What are their phenotypes, and why are they so different, considering the Irish are one of the more homogenous peoples? What can you infer about their ancestry?

They don't look that different. One is fatter and older. Same kind of face though.
This is Brendan Gleeson when he wasn't fat, they look pretty different to me, although I can appreciate they might not to someone from somewhere quite different.
You forgot Israelite
They might be homogenous now but they've had a lot of disparate stops along the way
Scythian and Egyptian
People have different phenotypes, even with homogenous populations. Ashkenazi israelites are slightly inbred, and they have people who look like Central Europeans, olive skinned Lebanese, Italians, and everything in between.
Correct
The Irish have pockets of EEF survivors (and a possibly Afro-Asiatic substratum linguistically). It is my belief that they were probably a key refuge for both the megalith builders of the old tin trade who fled the Celtic speakers moving in and had an even more ancient substrate beneath possibly owing to a group who spread west when the Egyptians and Semites went east, and were a sister population to the Berbers that spread north beyond the Saharan Pump. Just my speculation.
>The Irish have pockets of EEF survivors
So does literally every modern European population. Irish actually have some of the lowest rates of EEF admixture.
>and a possibly Afro-Asiatic substratum linguistically).
Every European Indo-European language has this. It came from the Proto-Indo-European period when they were raping EEF women and absorbing them.
Thats not how it works. There is nobody in Ireland who is purely or even mainly descended from EEF. Everyone in Ireland has some EEF admixture, like everywhere else in Europe, but the average is still only around 35% or something, lower even.
Some might be around 30%, some might be around 40%, but there isn’t a single person who is descended from EEF, only partially and usually minority.
The closest you have to an EEF remnant population is Sardinians, who are like 80% EEF descent. However even they have some admixture with either WHG or PIE or both.
In the middle ages a crew of 100 yemeni were stranded in the south, this changed some genetics down there. Also depending on whether their ancestry had english in it at all could introduce and viking slave genetics in post danelaw
Colin Farrel got approximately 98.7% Irish, and 1.3% central European on an ancestry test according to him.
>In the middle ages a crew of 100 yemeni were stranded in the south
You just made that up
It is true that there was a huge level of slaver raids from Barbary pirates. Look at the history of Baltimore. I never heard of a stranding, though.
>is true that there was a huge level of slaver raids from Barbary pirates
No there wasn't. Baltimore is the only raid as far as I know and the people who were kidnapped were all Anglo settlers.
The name 'Hasan' is quite common in some parts of Ireland, apparently due to an Ottoman trader getting stranded/settling there for some reason or another. Source: I know a London Irish bloke named Hasan from church.
>apparently due to an Ottoman trader getting stranded/settling there for some reason or another.
Pure nonsense.
>In Ireland/Scotland, the surname Hassan is one of the anglicized forms of the Gaelic (Irish/Scottish) form of Ó hOsáin. It is to be distinguished from Ó hOisín and Ó hOiseáin (Hession and Hishon). In County Londonderry, where it is numerous, it is spelt Hassan, Hassen, Hasson, Hassin and Hessin. In the Monaghan Hearth Money Rolls of 1663, it appears as O'Hassan.
Try reading the wikipedia references you wally:
>Recorded in many spellings including Hassan, Hassen, Hason, Hasson, and Hassin, this is a surname which has at least three possible origins, all quite different, all from different parts of the world, and therefore largely dependant on the roots of the namebearer. As a first example it could be Gaelic, meaning either Irish or Scottish, and a development of the pre- medieval O'hosain, itself from the Norman-English name Hal or Harry, and ultimately the German-French "Henri" of the pre 10th century.
>Secondly it can be Islamic, where it is recorded as Hasan, Hassan, and Husayn, names associated with sons of the Prophet Ali.

If someone is from Ireland and Catholic then their surname was originally what I posted and has nothing to do with the surnames that are the same looking elsewhere.

Complete fantasy. It comes from 'Hessian'. Hessian mercenaries were used extensively in the conquests and colonizations of Ulster.
>Complete fantasy. It comes from 'Hessian'. Hessian mercenaries were used extensively in the conquests and colonizations of Ulster.
You're the fantastist. Hessions where never used in Ulster and the Irish surname was recorded before there was Hessions in Ireland to put down the 1798 rebellion.
Haha that's pretty funny
North Atlanic/Tronder and North Atlantic/Litorid.
do you guys think races have one face unless they're mutted?
There's a running joke that's centuries old in Ireland about people like Colin Farrell that they are descended from survivors of the Spanish Armada.
Norwegians actually have the exact same jokes about dark featured Norwegians.
The dark features are just from the minority EEF ancestral component all northern Europeans carry.
That joke only exists in the USA, literally nobody in Ireland uses the "black Irish" meme
I have no idea how that meme even arose in America
>he doesn't know about the armada allegations meme
just say you're from dublin retard
Are you legitimately Autistic, OP? Every country in Europe, the Middle East, and even South Asia has variation in phenotypes. Do you legitimately and unironically believe that there's not a single black haired native Swede or Finn? You've never seen a blue eyed and pale Arab, like Bashar Al-Assad?
Jesus Christ, this board wastes so much time on these monumentally stupid threads.
