so give the AEW belt to Okada, that would have been a way bigger way for him to drop it.

Let them both float around NJPW for a while to sweeten the collab deal and offer them a big main event in their territory with an AEW guy coming over to take the title back.

Or, you know, do fucking anything but the retarded shit they ended up with?

It's a heatless, boring, vanilla face vs face with a crystal clear outcome. This 4-way is much more interesting than that.

All Atlantic being a four-way spotfest is fine but the absolute fucking state of having the IWGP being a four-way. Just give us a straight up one on one between White and Page, Page is shit but it's better than Atom Smol being involved. Tony is such a fucking clown, he gets handed this partnership and produces dog shit.

Before Punk's injury and Jay White's win, the world championship matches didn't look remotely in doubt - each company's top guy retains his prize, each company's top belt gets a successful defense. The politics dictate it.
Now we're in the most interesting of all possible timelines. The AEW championship is specifically an interim belt, so either man in the match can win it without making AEW look bad.
The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship isn't just being challenged by AEW talent, but also by Okada, who can win it without making NJPW look bad.
And look, the chip on Jay's shoulder to lose it like that would be massive. It'd also cement Forbidden Door as an actual "buy this PPV" event for the NJPW audience, which would be great if they are going to make it an annual event as planned.

Tanahashi is working the G1, retard.

So it's effectively a singles match between Okada and Jay, but worse because it involves adam cole?

I'd agree with you 100% if it was just a triple threat between White, Okada and Page.
The inclusion of Cole takes it from conceptually good to a clusterfuck that gets dragged down by a guy vastly beneath the other 3.

Tanahashi can work the G1 with the interim belt. It doesn't need to be on Dynamite every week and it doesn't need to be defended on the G1!
Hell, Tanahashi having wrestled the full G1 while holding the interim title is a perfect excuse for him to lose the unification bout to Punk.
