If they're just doing it to piss you off and it makes you happy, they'll drop it and move on to something else. If they're actually trans and you were wrong? Good job, you were a good parent.
I mean this is how I would handle it, but to be fair I don't think the "it's just a phase" argument specifically refers to teenage rebellion against unsupportive parents. That is a subset of the "just a phase" argument but teenagers go through phases whether or not their parents are supportive of it and most parents want them to go through those phases in ways that will only have "temporary" impacts on their lives.
