The Pains of Being Pure at Heart really nailed this in the early 2010s.
They also have the distinction of being one of the last good bands pitchfork shilled

    fucking love both those albums. basically perfected the upbeat shoegaze/jangly pop sound
    strongly recommend pic rel, super underrated gem. every track is amazing

    Tullycraft is really good twee resurgence. kind of on the power pop side of things and the vocals are very wimpy but still very good. their song "pop songs your new boyfriend's too dumb to know about" literally shouts out some of the twee classics, like heavenly, beat happening and halo benders. i think the earliest album is like 2000 too O_O
