      >In 2012, a German Court granted an injunction against a user of Retroshare for sharing copyrighted music files. Retroshare derives its security from the fact that all transfers should go through “trusted friends” whom users add. In this case, the defendant added the anti-piracy monitoring company as a friend, which allowed him to be traced through aggregation of bad Opsec.[18]

idgaf about "anonymity" when it comes to p2p. idea of p2p that it's resilient to censorship due to peers not being centralized
there are 2 coins to censorship side
when isp fines and sues you in court (applicable for places like australia and germany)
when isp blocks sites and peer trackers (applicable for places like russia and brazil)
        and i'm from the latter

Tor and whonix. Probably nothing wrong with Qubes OS, just havent tried it. Tails I dont believe is worth using. Your only getting a modicum of security improvement by having it boot from the usb, vs using a VM, but I guess its about use case. If I wanted a secure OS, on someone elses hardware, without having to install shit on their device, then tails on a usb, would be good. but I also hear running tails on a compromised device can compromise tails, so your basically back to a very narrow use case difference and frankly whonix 90% of the time wins. I also believe you can have any OS boot from a usb like tails if you wanted. All those encryptions are good.

It doesn't even attempt to hide connections. Anyone doing anything illegal or questionably legal, even with a VPN is exposed to law enforcement if the popo put in even the smallest effort.

never heard of this software. with p2p its a bit of effort to get warrants for every ip. easy to set someone up too. they might want more evidence. if you're a single ip with multiple files over a period of time they might be more inclined to get a warrant. This software may also use proxies along the way with p2p so its not as simple to get a definitive ip of people sharing contraband
