I honestly find the thread incredibly disturbing and upsetting. I mean, no, I don't think that Layla is a b***h or anything (she's fricking seven, way too young and moronic to be held accountable), but the way that so many redditors attack Lucas when he's a god damned first grader is just blood-curdling (and, silly 7 year old relationship or not, he had valid reason to be upset). "Lucas is possessive" "Layla doesn't need to be taught to keep the men around her happy from an early age" Just... why? Why be this cruel? Why take this so deathly seriously and bring bullshit feminist rhetoric up to attack someone who's barely out of the fricking toddler years? God damn people are scary, I should just live in a fricking cave and have nothing to do with the entire human race.

Just goes to show much values have eroded on a societal level that they think he was in the wrong here. Then again, is a reddit board or whatever they are called there that is dedicated to judging people really the best place to judge the values of society as a whole?

no you moron, vocal minorities are vocal and strong opinions scare you because you consider yourself moderate and draw the line right below what you vire as acceptable

I have strong opinions on some things, but 'having strong opinions' isn't a complete Get Out of Jail Free card for being a bunch of frothing lunatics. Having strong opinions isn't the same thing as having completely insane and nuance-free ones. You can have 'strong opinions' that still exhibit some degree of sanity and reason. I also have strong opinions sometimes where I judge people severely for crossing certain lines, but those people are generally adults, not fricking seven years old. Having ""strong opinons""" doesn't require being completely fricking looney.

Sorry, I don't understand what the problem is. Yeah, I have lines of what I consider acceptable. There's opinions I agree with, opinions I disagree with but consider respectable, and opinions I think are stupid. So what? Doesn't everyone have those divisions?

        >"Layla doesn't need to be taught to keep the men around her happy from an early age"
They're right though. Being raised exactly that way set me up for failure and caused a multitude of serious issues and occurrences in adulthood that could have been avoided if I'd been raised with a different mentality. It's a harmful thing to teach young girls, especially when society at large is already drilling that into their heads, the least you can do is stress the opposite to give them a healthy sense of self-worth.
It should not be hard to grasp why teaching a young girl she should be striving to make men around her happy and not make them upset is going to come back to bite her hard

I did a very poor job expressing myself. In the comments a lot of people are basically saying that if she does something wrong, she should learn that's it the man's problem. She should do as she pleases and forget the aftermath in relationships. This was more what I was referencing when I greentexted his comment. I agree with you that it can be harmful and that a failure to make another party fail (when they do nothing wrong) can be taken as a personal failure.

          >It's a harmful thing to teach young girls
Yeah, but in this case, they're... not teaching that. Lucas has ample reason to be upset. And hell, as far as I can tell, Lucas isn't trying to enforce anything, he just wants to stay away from her. It's the parents who are turning this into a thing, with Lucas' parents contacting Layla's parents.

I see both points of view, in that children are complete morons so it's not serious but the father is right to be concerned about the girl's character and it's fair to try to use this to impart proper values

Based. This is the correct approach but modern humans have lost all ability to communicate with each other. Hope that entire family suffers. My son has literally zero competition right now growing up because were the only ones in the area that teach our own kid math and common sense shit that's 3000 years old.

It's a kid so no, it's not really cheating, the girl probably doesn't understand what a relationship is. I don't see any point in punishing her for doing something that she probably didn't really know was wrong.
The parents of both of those kids should just talk to their kids about what happened.

What are your thoughts on the redditors who are seething about Lucas and calling him controlling/abusive/likely to grow up into an abusive husband?

It's abusive trying to get a woman to be loyal to one man. All women deserve to explore their sexuality

Plain moronic, he's just a kid too, kids are emotional and get mad easily. Lucas apparently assumed that Layla wouldn't hold hands with an another boy, whether that was a good assumption is kinda hard to tell since we don't know what he and Layla might've promised to each other.

Shit, I feel for little Lucas.
Had my first girlfriend when I was 7 too.
    We held hands, kissed, etc.
And then in the course of a week I was promoted to betabux. She only gave me attention when she wanted me to lend her pencils or something and kissed another boy.
Little 7 year old me got redpilled on women. All they are good for is fricking, because beyond that they'll just use you for all you can give.

Who's talking about punishing the girl? The dad just wanted the mother to have a talk with the girl about what it means to be faithful to someone, and the mother interprets this as "punishing" her. All the mother has to do is sit down with the daughter and explain what it means to have a boyfriend (even a pretend one), and how hurtful it is to break that trust. It's literally just a learning moment for a child to help them understand how their actions can hurt others. The fact that people have a huge problem with it is pretty indicative of how faithless and brain-rotted most of society is. By sanctioning this behaviour, you're effectively encouraging your child to place no value on commitments and their word, to have no consideration for how their actions affect other human beings, and to place their own short-term desires and whims ahead of the relationships they've established. Frick people are moronic, I hate them so much.
