honestly if your stuck on step 0 maybe its not a good idea to keep goin bud
Start by finding just ONE thing to focus on. Focus on that one thing. Your breathing, a mantra, your waifu's butt, whatever... just stay focused on that. Once you are used to staying focused on that for an extended time period, try removing that thought from your head, too. Repeat until your mind is empty.
Let thoughts come and present themselves without judging yourself. Just needs to get it out of the way. Apply the label "noise" or "unimportant for now" respectively, until thoughts/concerns/distractions stop appearing, or what appears is "signal" or "important and relevant" or "you". Invite it to come out and fill your mind/consciousness.
Can also start with disciplining imagination, by trying to keep a red triangle in your mind for as long as possible. After a while of this training, emptying the head also becomes easier (the not-triangle).
when you typed empty did you think about the pressure needed to activate the p key? step 1, dont conflate mindless with awareness, thinking is confusion, pure and simple, once your aware of everything needed to activate that p key you dont think about it at all, and its not mindless, you are aware.

Breathe as long, slow and deep as you can for 1-2 hours. You'll notice the quanity of thoughts you have lower significantly.
From there I like to do what I call "language watch". Literally, meditating and watch for the emergence of any words, phrases, images and just watch them without pursuing.
Pretty much repeat these two steps and you can get very far down the path to extraordinary experiences.

turn off lights on your room, light a candle then sit in front of it and stare at candle flame while clearing your thoughts
use a timer, the moment a thought enters your mind stop and see how much time it took
your goal is to have zero thoughts entering your mind for an hour
