Tie clips are functional and could look good for most instances. Most men wearing ties don’t wear them, so they still stand out a bit. There is nothing sartorially incorrect about wearing a tie bar, go ahead, if you would like to wear one.

no, if you don’t have a really nice, tasteful, and expensive looking suit/shirt/etc, you risk coming off looking like a security guard or a doorman or a limo driver or a mormon. if you had that level of taste you wouldn’t be asking LULZ, ergo, you’ll look like the help or someone who is about to annoy you

Better yet. Get a nice little tie tack. I had a cloverleaf one that always got a lot of attention. Small, simple, but noticeable. Passed I lost it and never replaced it because I wear ties way less now.

Depends on the environment. Generally they are pretty formal. And the tie will also have to be, like a silk one. Mainly for a suit, not a sports jacket more informal look.

A wool tie, and it’s a no. So you have to ask, what exactly is it for.

And surprisingly how many people just clip it on the tie, and don’t understand, it clips into your shirt too.

I enjoy lesser formal accessories to that look, less intentional.

I like it for a mod Mad Men-era look with a skinnier tie. Wear it with more casual toned down suits and it’ll look sharp. Grey flannel suit, white shirt, dark-Ian repp tie in conservative colors

I think tie clips are only acceptable in USA, in EU we generally look down on tie clips. There are better accessories, like cufflinks.

They are highly frowned upon in Europe, only mall security wear those.
You don’t need one since you’re not going to make any kind of physical effort which would scramble your tie.

I know fa is stupid, but calling tie clips security, or pastor is hecking dunce.
They’re functional, and look good. They’re not even uncommon if you look at/work with people in dress uniform.
