      nobody cares.

these new "dumb" phones are just as smart as the ones we are using right now
      >with the latest apps
These digital detoxing zoomers will be still scrolling, just on a different device.
Also you can always just not stare at a screen

      >these new "dumb" phones are just as smart as the ones we are using right now
they're not. try using one sometime. many have no ability to install applications and have basic features you'd find 15+ years ago. it's like the old days of nokias. you don't need a very fast CPU to answer calls or get texts (which is all being processed by the modem chipset anyway), in turn leading to huge power savings and a phone you don't really need to recharge as often.

What the fuck is it with these people?

I'm guessing they're coping massively because they didn't grow up with this and they're in what I was in when I Was a teenager.

I don't have a single issue with my smartphone.

      >'ditching the smartphone' trend
this is not a real thing. Some dude on the internet just made this up and wrote and article about it.

people have been making these videos and writing blogs about this since before you were even accustomed to the concept of smartphones
      they are seeking attention

generation of kids and young adults born after 2000 are sick to death of cancerous social media applications, distractions from notifications from cancerous apps and israeli corporations stealing their data. you can continue to suck on israeli cock if you like but the rest of us will just sit back and laugh at your incredibly low iq. i can see why you'd all be disappointed things are heading this way as you can't pretend to be a 12yo boy to solicit nudes from a 10yo unless there's a real computer involved.

no. nobody cares about your opinion. it's like getting life advice from people that shit in the street and use the hands of homeless children as toilet paper. you're so far behind how reality works that you may as well just kys because things aren't going to get any easier for you.

While its the right attitude to have, as with all fad lifestyle changes it misidentifies the problem and/or is such an overreaction that one can't sustainably practice it. Plus its bound to be co-opted by some grifter looking to make money, or is doomed to fail for some other reason. The problem with the smartphone isn't the smartphone itself, its all the psychological manipulation baked into every app, the data collection, the constant connectivity, and the fact that it's no longer seen as a tool, but an extension of the person "owning" it. It no longer is a means to an end, it is the end. Having one device that is a cellphone, mp3 player, a high quality camera, a calculator, a notepad, and a calendar all in one is a genuinely useful tool. Having a device constantly buzzing about some bullshit twitter trend, or the latest news "disaster" is not.

          Pretty wild tbh
Actually going to get really weird now that average IQ bullshit jobs that don't essentally dpend on a body being there are going to get automated out. And even physical labor is getting automated out.
Apparently Amazon Robotics is on track to be essentially 100% automated within 10 years. And from what I've been told, it's a conservative estimate.
Technology in theory can make up for the boomer mess. But it's honestly hard to imagine good things happening tbh.

Seeing the same people buying up all the property, homes and farmland is really quite worrying, they wouldn't just try and starve people to death surely? Seems inefficient but I don't see vaxxies dropping dead either so whats the plan, make living so miserable and stressful people kill themselves to escape dystopia?

              Anonymous

Actually, this might sound stupid but I think I unironically figured it out.
There is a huge fundamental value to being able to test various chemical substances on actual human subjects in large scale trials. Even now with just mainly mice trials it's extremely difficult to get any sort of real or relevant data.
Even with no fundamental economic value, I can imagine there would still be tons of value in having hundreds of millions of humans to experiment on for things like longevity, nootopics, even recreational drugs.
At this point people will point to one questionable study from the 70s as 'hard evidence'. Not only that but apparently the state of science in general is so bad that barely any results are actually able to be reproduced.
Dystopian or not, I can honestly see the value for some in having people live in the pod.
Before I didn't really see why they would bother with the pod. But just trying to deep dive into a something like nootopics or life extension and it becomes extremely obvious very quickly how bad things are, and they could be a lot better.

phones dont work for anything but being a phone, ok? sorry, but the experiment failed. calls and texts, and maybe maps, are fine, but both the hardware and software provide a relatively poor experience for everything else, and added complexity actually interferes with basic phone capabilities. apps crash and drain battery and waste bandwidth and require reboot downtime, and android cant even get clock alarms to work correctly, so im gonna use a cheap phone with zero apps plus a laptop plus an alarm clock

This is stupid, the problem aren't devices, it's that people's lives are empty and fragmented and they turn to these devices to fill a hole in their lives. Society has been hollowed out by social media and news media. Sociopathic elites are tearing the world apart to fill their pockets, and it works because they have literally hired some of the brightest minds from across the world to fine-tune their outrage-generation algorithms to the micron. I don't blame people for falling victim to this kind of elite-led psychoterrorism, it's literally propaganda on steroids and broadcast on a global scale.

I don't think we're QUITE there yet, right now most companies use quite blunt instrumentation. That said, as the data sets expand and our analysis abilities become better, I kinda predict we'll move toward this reality.
