Firefox is the only browser that supports manifest v2 forever. Brave already said they will drop v2 in favour of v3 at the first point maintaining it becomes too hard. Fox wins again, botnethomosexual.

Didn't Firefox kill off their old extension standard years ago to fully implement the Google one? What's to stop them from doing that again? And besides ad blocking, any other extensions going to be effected by M3? Because if it's only ad blocking than it doesn't matter if Brave supports M2 or not, their ad blocker is built into the browser and isn't effected by extension rules.

Firefox removed their old system because it was impossible to maintain it any longer. The old system was too dependent on the core browser architecture which was preventing further browser development. Implementing the google system did not require the old system to be removed, rather it allowed the old system to be removed without being left with nothing.

        >Just because the developer stopped updating it doesn't mean anything. During this time, the web didn't change in a way that would inhibit uMatrix functionality. The grid still covers all the requests. The idea that a software needs constant updates to stay useful really needs to die. It is what has got us into this whole privacy and bloat mess in the first place. My clock or drawer have not needed updates for decades, why would a program? BTW, ηMatrix is still being updated, so if you really care about this "issue", use Pale Moon.

        vs Ublock:
        >huge, constantly updated, list of blocked elements is required for these to work. For example, AdGuard prides itself on having more than 1,800,000 malicious websites on record. Not something I would brag about, when it's so simple to just block entire classes of requests via uMatrix, rendering most of these adblockers irrelevant. By using them, you are also relying on someone else to provide you with the lists, instead of taking your web browsing into your own hands. If something isn't on these lists, it will not be blocked, and you cannot possibly make a list that will capture everything ever
