It's meant to reflect their distance from psychedelia - the maximalist and colorful covers of Pepper and MMT reflected the tunes on each, so their rawer and more stripped-back record is pure minimalism. Simple as
While on acid the boys though how about we leave the cover blank so the listener can draw a cover based on their experience while the music takes them on a metaphysical journey. Very innovative and cool. Ahead of the cultural curve as always. Good work on the cover concept boys.
Yea I’m sure you know better op. I’m sure you have a superior taste to John Lennom, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and all their hoardes of affiliates in 1968. I’m sure had you chosen whatever shit cover your twitchy mind could cook up The fucking Beatles would’ve been more successful. I’m sure of it.
it contrasts nicely with the inside witch is a chaotic mess of photos, writings, memorabilia etc (again, unusual at the times; they might not be innovating and creating it, but they're certainly in the 5 first bands to do it)
Alphas seem to have this visceral rejection to the idea of listening to a set of songs in the order that the musicians thoughtfully selected them to be presented in. It's the death of narrative progression as a artistic device.
It's clear from the history of the band that they were all feeling hopeless about the future of the band, and were not interested in close collaboration. They were all off in their own worlds and heads. The album was a reflection of their spiritual beliefs at the time, as well as the lack of pretense they wanted to give the music. It was just music for music's sake. Of course it still has meaning but perhaps they wanted listeners to have more personal reflections on what this meaning is, rather than present them with a framing for how to interpret it. This explains the enduring popularity of this album because although it is disjointed and strange, there is some moments of clear message for every kind of person who would listen. It's in many ways a reflection of how growing up often means growing apart from those we grew up with. That's why the album's tone is either ironic, angry, sentimental or simply melancholic.
Just imagining the air plane flying away and the finger picking fade in gives me chills. They were not interested in a singular focus getting in the way of honesty and sincerity. So when it's time to pick a cover to show what the album is about, they went with nothing, because it's really an album about nothing in particular.
> best songs on the album: prudence, weeps, blackbird, savoy truffle >honorable mentions: birthday, yer blues, warm gun, helter skelter >everything else: trash, honey pie might be the worst song they ever made
could have been a great single album. as it is its the only Beatles album I dont listen start to finish
oh bla fucking dee oh bloody bla fucking dah? fuck off
The problem is that people can't agree on which half of the songs are best and which half should go. Eg
> best songs on the album: prudence, weeps, blackbird, savoy truffle >honorable mentions: birthday, yer blues, warm gun, helter skelter >everything else: trash, honey pie might be the worst song they ever made
Filtered by long, long, long.... what a chud
I'd get rid Savoy Truffle and Long Long Long instantly, they're forgettable as fuck and George doesn't have the voice to compensate. Judging by the low streams on spotify most people would get rid of them too, the only song with fewer streams than Savoy is Rev 9. Meanwhile you always have people hating on Obladi like

but the only songs with more streams are Blackbird and While my Guitar Gently Weeps.
Doesn't stop it from being a GOAT album!
It's a great cover. You're an idiot.
It’s a bad cover. YOU’RE an idiot.
The original LP was pretty cool since the name 'The Beatles' was embossed into the cover so from a distance it looked pure white.
literally advocating white supremacy........
just letting the world know which side they'd be on in the upcoming race war as described in their prophetic song "helter skelter"
CHARLES MANSON POSTS FROM THE GRAVE!
How much acid have you gotta be on to take that away from a song about a kiddies fun fair ride
so fucking true
This was the art movement trend of the time; minimalism. It was the result of a lot of drugs
It's meant to reflect their distance from psychedelia - the maximalist and colorful covers of Pepper and MMT reflected the tunes on each, so their rawer and more stripped-back record is pure minimalism. Simple as
what does the let it be cover even mean?
its super shit
Fits the album
It's white so you can draw your own cover art on it, dipshit.

minimal/blank covers have been done a lot since but it was pretty unusual for the time
> haha we're le Beatles we don't need a cover
Yes
They were bigger than Jesus Christ you know?
it contrasts nicely with the inside witch is a chaotic mess of photos, writings, memorabilia etc (again, unusual at the times; they might not be innovating and creating it, but they're certainly in the 5 first bands to do it)
Unironically the worst post-acid Beatles album
let it be is worse
it definitely has their shittiest songs
Number 9
they did a "proper" cover, check the deluxe version cover
>paul has the biggest head of all 4
Was this intentional?
See that's fine. Now all they need to do is give it a proper name. The Beatles sounds like it's the first one
worst opinion ever posted here
it's a very maximalist album cover
this album is such ass what a downgrade from sergent pepper
revolution 9 is kinda cool tho

>It's an album about nothing
JERRY SEINFELD FAN SPOTTED!
The world should create more alternate album covers
Dude this legit looks like a dark victorian painting made in an asylum, George looks like he has no soul
Why do people call it the white album and not Self-Titled?
Because it's not self-titled and 'self-titled' is a retarded concept
It’s too confusing
The best minimalist album cover is The Durutti Column one which is just covered in sandpaper, so it scratches all the other records on the shelf.
So they did that BEFORE The Feederz?
Yes, they did.

I feel sad for you.
When I was young, I would listen to the whole album from start to finish and never skip any songs.

Savoy Truffle is a classic. I like it even more after actually having a tooth pulled out
bengalfuel has better album covers
WRONG BOARD!
OI MATE GIVE US SOME TEA AN A PROPER COVER LUV
Fuck the both of you!
This cover was the inspiration for Spinal Tap's Smell The Glove when they had to change their cover.
holy shit lmao just realized they're the BEATles and they play music lmao thats clever
