Another easy one is to just convert a bp revolver to 45lc using a conversion cylinder

          Want nonlethal?
Less lethal defence sells maxed out hdp50 airguns that will shatter bone in a semi auto fashion with steel or ceramic or glass balls

I have an A2 on the end of my CZ scorpion. I don't think it does anything. I experimented with stock muzzle device, A2, and a massive triple port muzzle brake. Couldn't tell any difference. There isn't enough pressure from a pistol round to cause any really noticeable effect with muzzle devices. I went with the A2 because I like how it looks.

No it is still a firearm and is classified as such. Its antique status just negates any federal transfer requirement. Years ago there was some dude who tried to pull this stunt to hunt and got reamed in court.

Yes, that classifies it as an antique. Federally. It has to use the same style of ammunition as the original (no rimfire or cased ammo) that is why you can get a Kentucky long rifle made in 2023 sent to your door.

I also might try to see if there's anything on the Swedish K SMG. That would be pretty useful, or perhaps any of the Blueprints on the Gewehr 43 (and perhaps I could "reverse engineer it" and simplify some aspects).

Cost/benefit. Tooling up for a top break in dead calibers or .22s just won't pay the bills. There exist repro companies out there and their price reflects their costs.

Sad. Ide kill for a bunch of modern copies in a reworked 44 Russian cart.
Put in a low corrosion powder and boom: fits all the requirements for a gun that skirts the law and wouldn't require an ffl for transfer.

Can't buy ammo need to reload it yourself. Good antique cartridge gun plus cheap loading press and brass will cost you like 1k. Can just drive to some gun show and find something with ammo for twice cheaper. Or just buy a bp revolver from midway for like $300 spend another $100 on caps round ballsand powder those things can stay loaded forever as long as you don't keep it in a bucket of water.

              It is.

A big rule with antiques in general is: low velocity soft lead.

If you follow those rules smokeless won't break a old gun for 100s of rounds.

$100 usually less depending on condition. You'll see them in all conditions at pawn shops or gunsmith specials online .They fire such a low power ammunition it's impossible to pop them. You can find ammo for them at ammoseek. Just make sure you buy what it says on the barrel. .38 S&W is not .38 Special.

Sgammo sells new .50 bmg armor piercing incendiary ammo. This was a covid-19 era government order surplus. So very fresh ammo made by Lake City, not handload by Bubba "4 fingers".

I was planning to try firing them out of a helium driven airgun actually.

A crossbow would be much more effective.
