This is like one of the most forward thinking and avant-garde albums and it was made all the way in 1971. How did they do it bros? Maybe it was like the political tension of Germany or something but they managed to make an album that was unlike anything at the time.

Polydor was being retarded and gave them an advance of 100k to do whatever they want or something like that

They likely made the money back over time tbh. I like CAN,DOM,Sand,ADii,Hölderlin,W&W the most probably out of all of them but Faust does have a special place in my heart nonetheless.

Idk, it was pretty advanced. Also Cluster was pretty ahead of time.

    >feedback sounds
    >beatles/stones sample
    >actually decent jazz piano
    >zappa-esque circus music
    >grieg ripoff
    >nonsensical german conversation
    >varese ripoff
    >guy scraping a cement mixer round a warehouse
    >folk rock with "i'm 14 and this is deep" nihilist lyrics
    >actually decent hard rock guitar solo
    >thunderstorm sample
    >morricone ripoff
    >actually decent psychedelic jam
    >le wacky lieder music
    >AHHHH EXPLOSIONS AHH
    >more folk rock with "i'm 14 and this is deep" existentialist lyrics
    >album just ends
Wow, truly one of the most subtly constructed and deeply affecting philosophical and poetic statements in the history of rock music. Thank you Jean-Herve Perón for your truly groundbreaking "music".

Oh hey, it's an "anon who knows Zappa knows Varese" moment.

The first track is kind of weak for sure. You get like 7+ minutes where nothing really happens except circus music with some weird spacey sound effect happening over it

People here hear a little circus and undermined the whole song

Nah I really don't mind circus but a significant chunk of the 1st track is just two different circus riffs alternating without much else going on

It's an okay album with some great moments. It was revolutionary for its time, but in the modern age it's just another avant-garde rock album from the acid era. It deserves the praise it gets, but ultimately it's not worth listening to anymore.

I listen to this album all the time when I go to sleep. My favorite part is when they start doing gremlin voices.

Is there any coherent idea to all the random stuff in this record? None of it really fits together, why the Beatles sample and so on?
