this is market segmentation and everybody should ignore vulkan, metal, etc, and just do pure opengl 1.2
how can you have strong opinions of what other companies do but still use apple or microsoft shit? why even make this thread if objectively CANT give a fuck? every day you compromise
What else is even there to add to OpenGL? Vulkan isn't even worth the extra headache unless you're really pushing the hardware to it's limits, and even then there's compatibility to consider.
vulkan has shader pointers which were made core in 1.3 (VK_KHR_buffer_device_address) so it can be used for real compute in a cross platform manner
never touching opengl again
luckly using vulkan for compute with shader pointers is very easy

Idk I think u just retarded
No, I'm pretty sure I still have OpenGL on my computer.
>ms isn't doing opengl
>apple isn't doing opengl
>sony isn't doing openly (openly at least)
>nintendo still is (!)

probably only because theyre using a mobile soc from 2014 kek
I'm not gonna miss it
works on my machine. even in the browser.
I still use opengl 2 all the time
>fast
>multithreaded
>simple
>one way to do things
you don't need more
>web
dropped
>inb4 works native too
don't care
You don't, the rest of the planet does
"web" means that it's a new graphics api designed as a part of web standard. but "web" also means that it's a crossplatform graphics api.
every vulkan compatible gpu has full opengl support through zink
Good riddance, I'm not missing the global state machine in Vulkan.
I am.
>depreciates OpenGL
What's happening to OGL???
Literally nothing . All development is focused on Vulkan .
opengl is a shitty meme
there isn't a more fair victory on earth than that of directx over opengl
dx is botnet
>THEY TOOK THIS FROM YOU
They didn't. It still lives, and it's called Vulkan

No they didn't? You can still use ANGLE worst case and get a properly working GL ES almost anywhere.
what did they take? opengl applications work fine
Good. OpenGL was garbage and slow as shit. I am glad that it got replaced by Vulkan.
OpenGL 1.2? Doesn't that version use a fixed pipeline? Fuck off, I'm not using that shit.
Also, fuck OpenGL global state machine.
>global state machine
oh shit it's orwellian
good
