    >replacements are all worse and slower on any hardware
    >aren't as universal
    >the few benefits they claim were already solved with OpenGL libraries and extensions in the 1990s
this is market segmentation and everybody should ignore vulkan, metal, etc, and just do pure opengl 1.2

No, I'm pretty sure I still have OpenGL on my computer.

"web" means that it's a new graphics api designed as a part of web standard. but "web" also means that it's a crossplatform graphics api.

    opengl is a shitty meme
there isn't a more fair victory on earth than that of directx over opengl

    >THEY TOOK THIS FROM YOU
They didn't. It still lives, and it's called Vulkan

What else is even there to add to OpenGL? Vulkan isn't even worth the extra headache unless you're really pushing the hardware to it's limits, and even then there's compatibility to consider.

vulkan has shader pointers which were made core in 1.3 (VK_KHR_buffer_device_address) so it can be used for real compute in a cross platform manner
        never touching opengl again
luckly using vulkan for compute with shader pointers is very easy

No they didn't? You can still use ANGLE worst case and get a properly working GL ES almost anywhere.

what did they take? opengl applications work fine

Good. OpenGL was garbage and slow as shit. I am glad that it got replaced by Vulkan.

OpenGL 1.2? Doesn't that version use a fixed pipeline? Fuck off, I'm not using that shit.

Also, fuck OpenGL global state machine.
