It’s just amazing marketing/shill strategies. You’re absolutely correct, docs are tacky and cheap quality garbage, but they capitalize well on their history from when they were a more respectable brand and they know exactly what kind of people (gayS!) buy their boots these days.

famous brand name is all normies care about so probably thats it but in all honesty, the basic version is kinda cheap and available everywhere, just take a black sharpie and delete the yellow stitching. got a pair 6 years ago that are still serving me well
    >inb4 selvedge redditors come at me with their obscure aktshually superior lower price choice of a boot
i dont care, off yourselves gays

i really adapt to any shoes without even thinking of it, i literally cant comment on comfort when it come to clothing since i can wonder around the house in skinny denims or in baggy sweatpants without feeling any difference, the only thing i can say is that going from summer low shoes to any kind of high shoes in the winter take me a week of painful skin tearing on the back of my ankles to adapt

I would rather wear these and have normies and girls think I’m cool than wear any of the shit that gets shilled in the schizo boot general

to WHO? you should mention that. I do not want to anally penetrate a 28 year old obese brown man in the ass, okay?

Nigga, you absolutely should spend a significant amount of money on something you’re going to have on your feet all day that is going to give you better support and look objectively better than a pair of shitty docs

Most people IRL don’t give a heck about fashion and can’t tell plastic from leather. What’s your point? Those brands are shilled so much because they’re actually good and will last you a while. Docs is constantly shat on here because there are actually people here with an ounce of care for quality. stupid 60 year old Skin-heads and millennial lesbos buy these cheap plastic boots, made with cheap oversea labor, of quality worse than $20 thrift store finds, and you expect everyone with half a brain cell to turn a blind eye and let you Docs shills turn newfags on to this dogshit.
inb4 seethe, dilate, die, or any other non-response stupids are using now to deflect from their shitty opinions.

Because people like shoes that look functional, and their history is compelling. The real question is why it’s so hard to find cheaper alternatives that aren’t garbage.
They’re bottom of the barrel corrected leather with a melted sole, no shank and take months to break in properly.
They aren’t worth half of what they’re sold for.

Dr Martens boots are an ugly-chic icon. The answer to your question is nostalgia; they remind people of the past and they love that. The fact that they’re ugly is what makes them so special. It’s why we love the things we love – they’re not perfect, but they make us happy. They make us feel comfortable and at home.

Already got some jadons for when I wanna look extra sassy and/or height fraud, thinking of getting some of these next

I’ve been using a pair of made in Thailand docs for the last 10+ years and they are still in perfect shape.
I’m an architect and use them also as work boots when visiting construction sites. I only clean them some days with water and apply some Nivea cream all over them when spring arrive.
I use them EVERYDAY throughout winter.
    Zero issues. Still comfortable.

It’s very much a youth/counter culture boot. Like metal band tshirts, collars, coloured hair and chains. I wouldn’t expect a 30+ year old wagie to wear them

I’m 23 and I’ve never liked them. Got my first pair of paramemes recently and they feel super solid, way higher quality than any combat-style boot I’ve had before. Although I’m still getting used to how tall they make me feel.

They are pretty durable for the price. Otherwise, shitty tasteless boots that will hurt your feet the first couple of months you use them.
    Stop wearing them at 20.

Utterly based. That or “men” who warrant themselves too intellectual to wear sneakers or any other footwear for that matter.
You’re trying too hard guys, just wear a hecking pair of sneaks every once and a while. I’m not asking you to wear hecking sandals everyday just some god forsaken sneakers.

People can wear any style they like, I dont really give a shit. But what you can say about Doc Martens is that their quality is objectively bad.

You guys are hecking stupid, Docs, especially 14 eyes are skinhead boots, women, liberals, and communists appropriated it as usual. Look at these and imagine them with white and red laces and then try to tell me otherwise.

I don’t understand why so many people throw a fit about them other than for quality reasons. Reeks of upset tryhard fake-elitist shit. I really like the way docs look aside from the yellow. Combat boot silhouette when done well is largely timeless, although there are better examples than docs.

I just want simple black combat boots that aren’t stupidly expensive, and this is the only brand I know that fills that niche. I know Solovairs exist but anons here shit-talk those as well so idk what to think

I live in Germany (murcan) and I’ve noticed that every young woman in my town wears these, or even worse thicker boots of the same style. People here physically look pretty good but the fact that all the girls look like they have massive clown feet due to these boots creates a weird image.

Lesbian dress sense is just a way to signal to other lesbians. I doubt even they think a bowtie and doc martens actually looks good – it just makes them look like a lesbian.

decent, affordable working class man’s boots (hence the rubber sole) that were co-opted into being a "fashion" shoe by women who look down on any sort of manual labour, the price exploded as a result
