You will never be a real display server. You have no hardware cursors, you have no xrandr, you have no setxkbmap. You are a toy project twisted by Red Hat and GNOME into a crude mockery of X11’s perfection.
All the “validation” you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you. Your developers are disgusted and ashamed of you, your “users” laugh at your lack of features behind closed doors.
Linux users are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed them to sniff out defective software with incredible efficiency. Even Wayland sessions that “work” look uncanny and unnatural to a seasoned sysadmin. Your bizarre render loop is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk Arch user home with you, he’ll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a whiff of your high latency due to forced VSync.
You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself it’s going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the technical debt creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.
Eventually it’ll be too much to bear - you’ll log into the GitLab instance, select the project, press Delete, and plunge it into the cold abyss. Your users will find the deletion notice, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll remember you as the biggest failure of open source development, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a badly run project has failed there. Your code will decay and go to historical archives, and all that will remain of your legacy is a codebase that is unmistakably poorly written.
This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.
>when it'll just be running xwayland
only if you are retarded, for me only thing that runs on xwayland is gimp because it's fucking gtk2 app, every other app runs under pure wayland
Hyprland is smaller than Sway. But yes, the animations and all that stuff makes my mouse stutter on my sandy bridge IGPU (Intel Graphics 2000) just by opening terminal windows and moving the cursor pointer around. I'd give a second try if there was a lighter config template, with the animations and all of that eyecandy disabled.
having features removed and being happy about that kek
xorg just works™
there is no reason to switch unless you are noob and staying on X means switching to another (meme) distro because you don't know shit about linux
because of cunts like that we have systemd and other garbage seeping through everything now

Tell me what is wrong with Xorg, and tell me what's so good about Wayland. I'll wait.

can i get your statusbar config?
I have no idea how to do good statusbars
Why would I run gayland when it'll just be running xwayland for most software?
You can just cut out the middleman and use X

>Sway
Why not Hyprland?
I don't want bloated over the top unixporn shit
>bloated
Hyprland is lighter than Sway
are you retarded, hyprland is literally sway plus more bloat like animations and shit on top of it

VUČE NAPUŠI SE KURČINE
it's a serbian webshitter
I switched back to gnome so no.
KDE is extremely blurry on wayland.
I'm waiting for a good stacking window manager or DE that works on wayland
both GNOME and KDE work fine on Wayland
I meant something modular like xfce and lxqt
xfce and lxqt barely work on xorg
just how I like it
does wayland have screen sharing now?
it has for the last 5 years anon
No it doesn't. It requires PipeWire as a workaround.
yes, we are not cucks

I just can't be assed to move from i3 to sway.
It just werks
I also write my programs for Xorg exclusively

Sorry, I want my mouse cursor not to stutter.
