The used car market is a joke right now. Posted on May 22, 2023 by Anonymous The used car market is a joke right now.
How much can I get for my 2016 Ford Fusion SE with 27K miles and is in perfect condition? I don’t really drive it and don’t want it anymore
one billion dollars
Kick him in the balls why don't you.
List it in a major metropolitan area and probably 14k from the rates I see on Craigslist.
I bought it brand new with every option available for 28k. If that’s what they’re going for I’ll probably just keep it then
loses 1/2 it's value just driving it off of the dealership lot
You better drive it. Cars are not like other items where the less you used it, the engine and suspension components will stay almost brand new. You have to these things to keep things from rotting, rusting and ceasing. Reason you see commercial vehicle with 300k miles still running with few problems. And 8k miles 5 year vehicle with many problems. Engines are meant to run to lubricate and keep everything working fine.
Close to $0 because it's not EV.
I’ll give you $16K cash now. I’ll go pick up this weekend. IM me.
sent IM.. that's you right? lilgirlfuckhole8? weird name
16 or 17k probably. its a good car, and thats the top generation in terms of styling, in my opinion. dont know why you dont drive. driving is awesome. you can go anywhere you want.
>top generation in terms of styling,
it was stolen from Aston Martin while Ford briefly owned it
also, is it true that Ford does lgbt ads these days?
ford is now faggy
Ford worker here. Posters everywhere of "diversity is our strength" and "Juneteenth" The Ford company magazine proudly featured a MtF team leader from the Flat Rock assembly plant. Plus the "Super Gay Bronco" ad they made. It's over.
Making parts for you blew chunks btw.
Ass homosexuals think they're making something special by limiting our warehouse stock to 16 hours of production. Fuck that. I'd rather make them all and stock them and ship them out as needed instead of switching over those God damn work cells.
They want to save money with just-in-time lean six sigma Judaism that falls apart from even the slightest of supply chain disruptions. GM is the same fucking way.
i dont know if only there was a way of fining out what the market price is
Ill give ya 13 grand in Florida
You can try your luck with 17k, but cars depreciate really fast
>How much can I get
you will get 3k for it
the dealer will sell that same car for 25k though
You are sitting on a gold mine. You could triple up if you just part it out.
I'll give you two bags of seed
>bought sedan off kijiji for $19k before shit hit the fan
>a year later even with 25k added to the odometer its worth $26k now
I feel bad for everyone who didn't get a car before it went haywire, I've studied car buying and dealerships heavily. You're absolutely fucked now. Cars are now basically second mortgages.
It's sad. You look around and we're back to seeing cars on the road like it was during Obama:
Either nice ass luxury cars or cars falling apart.
Remarkable the effect having a braindead stooge in office has on the economy.
It's just remarkable that people put up with it.
Simple horizontal warfare.
It's ok, your old car is getting sold to afrikans to go pollute there.
which one, i live in pennsylvania and have Fetterstein Monster
Biden is nothing, blame his israeli puppet masters
You can put the blame on every president since JFK.
YOU MEAN tRump?
Every other car i see on the road has accident damage. These are newer cars with missing bumper and smashed up sides damage.
I noticed this too.
lots of bumpers missing and radiators visible.
Sometimes I feel like I'm driving in a demolition derby on the highway when I look around at all the banged up vehicles. It wasn't always this bad, only in the past few years (since the vax rollout) has it gotten noticeably worse. Also I'm sure all the turd worlders flooding in and being given free license to operate a motor vehicle isn't helping. Great time to have a body repair shop.
Because you didn't used to have to max your credit card to fix a fucking scratch.
I saw a Geo Tracker the other day, starting humming Ace of Bass
All that she want
Is another baby
He's gone tomorrow
All that she want
Is another baby
Oh woooah oh
they used to play that shit all the time
i hated it so much
now its never played cause it was shit
Was Cash for Clunkers a psyop?
Prob going to get a repo from SCA or Copart, but yeah even those places are super expensive now.
Rising rates are killing car loan origination. The rise in repo's is starting to fill up dealer lots again. I think prices for cars will be dropping soon. in any case, this isn't LULZ. exploding turbo vax cancer rates are gonna free up plenty of rides too.
>Cars are now basically second mortgages.
Only because people are retarded consoomers. They’re not poor, they’re just stupid.
>average new car price is $48,000
>there are about a dozen cars that are ~$22k (and under)
>no one buys them
Automakers have really been struggling with making a cheap car appealing. A lot of consoomers do not want to drive a cheap car, or they want a lot of tech features that really drive up the price. It's really the case of combined feature creep and hedonic treadmill chasing.
It’s maddening because most of them simply refuse to build a slimmed down cheap car. In the words of Steve Martin - just give me four fucking wheels and a fucking seat.
But no, instead we’re getting $40K shitheaps with subscription services for power steering.
>But no, instead we’re getting $40K shitheaps with subscription services for power steering.
This is how you know the average normie is born to be a slave. The fight to give people freedom of choice is a futile one, they just choose the chains again.
Today's big wars are not fought on the battlefield anymore. They have spectacle and get great viewership though.
Just look at the Mitsubishi Mirage and what your spoiled fellow citizens said about it. The brands are afraid of their brand reputation being tainted because everybody is busy sniffing and licking their own assholes to see it as a valuable little car it is. Everyone sees themselves as some sort of goddamn lords nowadays and you can see the consequences of that.
To be fair the new mirages are dogshit. Plastic cheap fake 3 cylinder pregnant roller skate feeling like a fucking go-kart or lawnmower.
I suggest looking to a used 2002 mirage LS coupe with the 2.4L
i dont fucking want blind spot monitoring. i dont need radar cruise control. i dont even want a backup camera. just give me a fucking car with AC and isnt duller to drive than a fucking magic carpet
Unironically that's where Asian bugmen still seem to excel. They're the only ones still making utilitarian vehicles.
I will never not be mad that affordable trucks don't exist and retards drop 80k on a truck they never actually haul anything with.
>Unironically that's where Asian bugmen still seem to excel. They're the only ones still making utilitarian vehicles.
Depends. Asian automakers have particular advantages that allow them to do that.
Japanese automakers have always been particularly resourceful with their engineering, so the packaging tends to be tidier. Korean automakers aren't just automakers, but part of larger conglomerates. Hyundai has the advantage of a nearly vertically integrated steel industry that produces most of the ultra high strength steel for the upper half of the auto market. They also own part of Kia to the point where they share platforms. Also, a lot of the high strength steel for cars and trucks is Korean or US/Candadian. We'll never trust the Chinese or Indians to do that right.
They're going to dominate the hybrid and EV sphere too. Toyota already dominates hybrid tech, nearly all hybrid tech is licensed or derived from Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive. Aside from Tesla (Panasonic), automakers will answer to the Koreans for batteries through Samsung SDI, LG Energy, and SK On. Koreans in particular really like to vertically and horizontally integrate their spheres of influence until they're the only game in town. Again, the alternative is Panasonic, which is busy supplying Tesla, or some Chinese supplier who will definitely cause a vehicle recall after 5% of the cars that roll off the line catch fire and explode.
>I will never not be mad that affordable trucks don't exist and retards drop 80k on a truck they never actually haul anything with.
It's a status symbol now, literally a money burning pissing contest. It seems every demographic has their status symbol car. Subhumans like high trim German cars, Americans like farm tools with a tuxedo shoved up its ass, etc. Normies desire luxury for the sake of luxury.
>It's a status symbol now, literally a money burning pissing contest.
That's what makes me so mad. These naggers are making me spend thousands of dollars on shit I don't need. I just want a truck to move things with. There needs to be a separate category of vehicles for people that actually work.
At least work vans aren't all super cucky yet.
>At least work vans aren't all super cucky yet.
Oh they're trying. Diesel in particular is getting really put through the wringer with emissions systems failures being the sore point. The diesels are fantastic until they break, and then any cost savings disappear as the service costs skyrocket
It's so bad that Mercedes-Benz offers the gas powered M274 motor for Sprinter owners who don't want to deal with the headache of having a limp-home diesel Sprinter and the nearest MB Van dealer being 500 miles away.
Not sure with the GM 2.7L turbodiesel yet. The owners seem happy with it, but it's not certain whether it's up to the task of constant idling, stop-start cycles, and general working abuse that is expected with American commercial vehicles. The biggest obstacle to a quality American commercial vehicle is its ability to tolerate neglect. Americans treat cars very badly in general.
JASON ON KIJIJI 13 YEARS OLD!
Just wait. Dealerships are stuck with over priced cars and will start to panic sell in the summer. New models are get delivered in august. They will need to make space.
Rising rates are going to cause a crash.
unless you get a 500$ dollar shitbox
Call your congresswoman about it
naggers stole my 2019 jetta during covid lockdown and I managed to get a 2020 for 0% interest because a covid promo. Had to schedule the purchase and no test drive but I'm happy with it. Only fucked up part is the 2020 doesn't have the 75k warranty like the 2019
I have never paid more than 2k for a car
I currently drive a 20 year old mercedes
Same. I have an 09 Kia Sportage I bought 2 years ago for $2000. Still running.
It's a reflection of how shit the new car market is. Nobody wants overly computerized unmaintainable smartphones on wheels, but these are the only kinds of cars that are legal to produce now.
I drive a 2007 wrangler. I’m never giving it up. It runs fine and has none of this gay wireless crap. I still use an aux cable to play music.
How is that still road worthy? It was a piece of shit brand new.
You are witnessing the filter effect. Vehicles that are still on the road after 15 years or over 100k miles have been well maintained or were the cream of the crop of their production run. I own a truck and an SUV from '98 and '05 that run great and are cosmetically okay. Bought them both almost 10 years ago. The things that go wrong at that age are electromechanical or bearings/seals. If you have a complete socket set and a few torque wrenches you can solve most of these problems. I wish more anon would get into working on cars. It's a fun hobby
>It's a fun hobby
It saves a fuck ton of time and money too. I don't have to pay for a mechanic or queue up on his backlog. I can usually borrow or rent out a garage for any bigger work. I don't believe richfags when they say their time is worth too much not to do basic services by themselves. They have to hand over their car to some underpaid lube monkey who wants nothing to do with their car.
I think the only thing I need to do is spark plugs. Car is starting to misfire every few months. Spark plugs are probably 120k miles old though, amazing how long the iridiums last on older engines.
I never thought about renting a bay at a shop. My first job was as a bay tech at my cousins shop and we had two lifts, a parts washer, a tire machine, a transmission jack, a motor stand, a cherry picker and three roll arounds full of tools. I will admit that working on the ground is a bitch. To all the anons who want to work on their own cars: buy a 3ton low profile Pittsburgh jack and some stands and a creeper from Harbor Freight. That'll cost you like $200 and you'll get more done and be more comfortable doing it.
>I still use an aux cable to play music.
Muh man. '04 Grand Cherokee V8 reporting in.
Just a few years back there were like 15 chips in an F-150; now there's maybe 1500. That's shitty business. But every company in the world is now a data company, so they're going to ramp up their spying to be profitable.
Cope. Reality is most working people can't afford (or even qualify) for new car payments. The average car payment is way up, and wages haven't moved at all. Used cars are hardly worth it if what you have still works without major issues.
where's his cope? most retards finance and nu cars are garbage
sit on dole
live in car
Both of my vehicles predate black boxes. New cars are for cucks and wage slaves.
Luckily this is one of the few cases where voting with your dollar might help. If new, low tech shitboxes like the Nissan Versa, Mitsu Mirage, Kia Rio and Soul, base models of other makes etc... start selling like hotcakes because new cars are extremely fucking gay then the trend might reverse. I think as the permarecession continues, more DIYers will start taking better care of their vehicles too (it's not particularly hard to do most basic maintenance) leading to a drop in overall gayness in new cars too. No one wants overly complicated pieces of shit when suddenly the easy credit dried up.
>Nobody wants overly computerized unmaintainable smartphones on wheels,
Go with a simple classic
These C3 70's Corvette's can be had for mid $20k's, this one sold for $24,000
350 ci, auto, A/C
like a child's toy car
What the hell is wrong with you?
You want a real car, or an iphone on wheels?
Good to see restoration-anon is back.
The reason that Pioneer is still a thing is because they produce aftermarket speakers and stereos to retrofit older cars to have the same Bluetooth systems the new cars do. Less than $500 to buy and install on a basic 2U model. What are new car companies thinking?
Bought a 92 toyo 4x4 with 160k on it for 3k a few years ago, now I see them going for near 10k with 200k+ miles. Shits bananas. Not to mention all the beaners taking them south
If you drive a financed car to Mexico, can it ever get repossessed?
In practice, no. US cars are regularly permanently lost to Mexico just from export.
you cant drive a financed car to mexico you need the title
I wonder if it was a good idea fueing the Obama era to destroy used cars for a government check to prop up the new car industry and we are seeing the ramifications of that.
>I wonder if it was a good idea fueing the Obama era to destroy used cars for a government check to prop up the new car industry and we are seeing the ramifications of that.
Yep, another thing King nagger is responsible for. Probably the greatest deliberate destruction of material outside of wartime in history. An incredible waste of energy and a tremendous burden placed on the environment to replace, all so Obama's backers could make a few bucks enslaving people via purchasing new cars. And these filthy israelites and democrats have the gall to call themselves environmentalists. They deserve the rope.
I have literally never heard of this
It seems the more you discover about obama, the more you hate him. Just like Reagan he has charisma and not much else
>wait until he finds out about the propaganda laws
>Buy rarer cars that have sat on the lot for a while 60+ days in far out locations
Lowball and have offer accepted
>get Carmax appraisal
>Take it to a dealer that will beat Carmax offers by $500
I have done this 5 times since the pandemic, started with a 2010 Taurus SHO and currently drive a 2020 Model 3 Performance.
M3P is a boring car but it's pretty fast. It's a very competent commuter that's able to launch away from waves of traffic. It feels like a smartphone, including its replaceability.
It is pretty fun. Certainly quick from a red light. Cheaper to run than my previous cars. I got it for a great price with FSD so I can make a few bucks and get something else.
>can't afford a used car
>just keep repairing my shitmobile
I'm still cursing Obama for Cash for Clunkers.
>The used car market is a joke right now.
I don't worry about it. Everyone selling a car thinks they're sitting on a goldmine, so let them keep it.
Got a low ks 70k miles falcon 2yrs ago goes hard as fuck only cost 5k makes 200hp fuck prices now tho
It really really is.
I saw a dealership selling some old 1980s shitbox for like 10k
Idk wtf is going on but I’m not selling my car to any kid diddler
>it's cheaper to repair a car than buy new
ebike if you can, literally saving 700/mo
With a car you can go anywhere
> he thought, out loud
>bought an HD LBZ Duramax 5 years ago with 60k miles for 21k
>used cars high
ITS THE ILLEGALS BUYING AND RENTING EVERYTHING
BIDEN BROUGHT IN TEN MILLION GOBLINS THERES NOT ENOUGH TO GO AROUND ITS CALLED SUPPLY AND DEMAND THATS WHY COSTS ARE GOING UP I WISH YOU STUPID FUCKS COULD UNDERSTAND THAT
Well yeah, the illegals are designed to reduce labor costs and increase profits for the oligarchy. Oh and we subsidize it through taxes to fund their HUD vouchers, EBT, Medicaid, etcetcetc
>the illegals are designed to reduce labor costs
Not for car manufacturing though. Those jobs only go to fat entitled UAW boomers who make $100k/year in jobs they've held since the 70s
the worst thing is those retards dont understand that in 20 years all those shitskins will be unemployed cuz of AI.. Americans might as well start shooting them now
Bullshit. AI isn't going to clean my toilet and clear brush.
80% of mutt flags are spics. They never acknowledge the true source of "inflation", a supply shortage due to freshly imported spic "migrants" buying these things with welfare bux. Same reason houses and food have doubled in price.
Nope--it was Trump Bux and 0% interest rates for an extended period of time, plus Biden Bux. You think illegals are getting mortgages for $300K starter homes and 7 year loans for $80k trucks?
I worked with illegals that had new trucks and went to the casino on weekends. They become American pretty quick
Yeah weird how welfare fraud and not paying taxes results in extra money eh?
>came into a massive windfall so I want to buy a 2023 Versa or a Rio 5
>don't really drive much to begin with and fuel economy is my biggest thing
>closest dealership with new cars in stock is in El Paso 2 states away
the new car market is in fucking shambles right now too, tons of demand from retarded who either don't know or don't care that they're getting raped on financing with the current rates and nowhere near the amount of supply necessary to fill it
"we're not in a recession" my fucking ass, I just want to get rid of my truck so I'm not having to spend 80 bucks a tank every week because gas is 4.99 a fucking gallon right now with no end in sight
Banks are apparently cutting credit lines to car dealerships. It's not about lack of demand. The banks are predicting a major crash and protecting themselves because they got fucked in 08 when everybody stopped buying and the dealerships couldn't pay them back.
They will just say not doing subprime lending is racist like they did in 08
Why are there no value models, though? high volume used to be a basic moneymaking strategy.
Not sure in the US but here ICE motors are being phased out by 2035.
Newsflash of today: same fate for gas operated boilers in 2029.
this. baseline they start at like 22k, at least. only manufacturer ive seen go below that is kia. but the old biggies like ford dont even have a car that low
Manufacturers realized they could just force everyone to buy expensive cars if they were the only thing on the market. Good faith competition in the free market is almost nonexistent nowadays.
>car manufacturers trying to max people out
>landlords trying to max people out
>wages are the same
>people living with roommates and driving old shitboxes
At what point does America get downgraded to third world status.
Already has, people are just keeping up appearances at this point. It's only recently that it's been publicized that even the upper middle class are getting squeezed.
>sounds like a decent investment
Toyota attracts a lot of I-KNOW-WHUT-I-GOT sellers who think that owning the badge means they're sitting on a goldmine. They're good cars sure, but not worth the massive premiums in many cases. In the end they're steel and iron like the rest of them.
Currently, people think that 2 year old Toyotas with 60k miles are still worth MSRP. I want to know what kind of weed they're smoking, because it's frying their brain like an overcooked egg.
I see ford doing 7-10% on new cars but they are their own credit line.
I work in a hospital and it’s worth noting that it’s usually the worst form of blacks who drive up in the nicest cars.
I’ve seen sports cars parked in front of crackhouses. No lie
naggers and international students. naggers all want their tricked out chargers and shit, and Chinese and Arab students going to college on the government dime all spend their dosh on tricked out supercars and bikes.
>I’ve seen sports cars parked in front of crackhouses.
What is massive cash in illegal drugs.
I see this all the time too. It's more annoying that I'm supporting these drug Lords with my tax dollars and snap/gibs
Arizona or California?
Because two states away from El Paso shouldn't even count New Mexico. I'm sure Flagstaff has new cars.
>Buying a new car with it
Don't be a fucking retard anon.
Just buy some cheap econobox.
You people are honkey nagger kike chink wetbacks!
I drive a 1993 Plymouth Voyager and I bought it 3 years ago and it had 200k on it
Changed the head gasket in 40 minutes by unbolting the head, jacking it up from the cat converter, and yanking out the old gasket and sliding the new $10 piece of shit in
Paid $500 for it, put 80k kilometers on it in 3 years, holy fuck the Chrysler 2.5 is a secret weapon, the most fucking reliable motor in history.
Holy fuck that was the worst and most autistic captcha of all time.
>I drive a 1993 Plymouth Voyager
>Paid $500 for it, put 80k kilometers on it in 3 years, holy fuck the Chrysler 2.5 is a secret weapon, the most fucking reliable motor in history.
>Holy fuck that was the worst and most autistic captcha of all time.
How's the transmission on those things?
Running an A520, been dropping the clutch and beating the ever living shit out of it, runs great!
Cannot believe this insane level of reliability, absolutely kicked the shit out of this thing and it keeps running. No oil change in God knows how long, I just top up the oil every gas fill up and put a little water in the rad... shit goes forever.
>I drive a 1993 Plymouth Voyager and I bought it 3 years ago and it had 200k on it
Very based. Too bad they let their AWD option go for stow-n-go. That gave Toyota a free win as far as AWD minivans go. A lot of North Americans don't know the Pacifica comes in AWD still.
>Simply unbolted the head
No, anon, you changed your valve cover gasket.
Not all of us are jncels not afraid of driving pussy repellant mobiles
Was about to buy a new truck, until they tacked on 5k over market value, and 8 percent financing, I’d end up paying 13k more than the truck is worth, so I had to back out
trying to sell your old car is basically begging to get scammed, that guys "perfect condition, low mileage" car probably isn't even worth a third of what he bought it for.
here's what I do:
>buy shitty old car for $1k bucks that you know anyways won't survive longer than 2 years
>drive it till its dead and to get it repaired would cost more than getting a new 1k shit car
>bring car to scrapyard and go back to step 1, repeat ad infinitum
>spend 16-20 something thousand dollars on a car that will last you the same amount of years with minimal upkeep instead of constantly replacing old shitty cars
You may have a german flag but you're clearly a retarded goat fucker
It might work 20 years ago when german cars were more reliable but since 2000s all of it is junk. Good luck lol
Sold my 2019 WRX Limited for 28k. Dumped that all into a 2022 Mustang GT that Ford was offering 0apr on. Life is good car bros
>2022 Mustang GT
You got the stickshift, right? Right?
>literally every used car doubled in value
>except the one I bought two years ago (it lost 40%)
WHAT THE FUCK
please share with us, which car lost you 40% in two years?
Larp. Name the car dude.
>houses double in value
>cars double in value
>food doubles in value
>inflation is only 4%
I'm at a point where I want to just exchange every paycheck for gold bullion because fiat currency is a shitcoin.
gold has capital controls and thus it's international price can be supressed.
They lie about it.
>They lie about it.
That's a really nice way of saying, "They're about to fuck everyone over and run off with all of the money to Israel."
If you came to the realization just now then it's already too late
It's hilarious to see boomer takes like from Dave Ramsay completely out of touch with how bad the used market is.
>bro just buy a used civic for $2000
>the reality: 250k miles 2005 civic completely falling apart from rust
>$10,000 (was purchased brand new for $15,000)
this guy has become my personal pet peeve. i had his workbook in the 90's, early 2000's. people like him are what keeps usury in place. a usurious system is indefensible and you aren't a winner when you become the landlord or some other social parasite that can then live off the labor of your fellow man.
Boomers are out of touch with fucking everything. They're still living in the headspace of the 80s and 90s where you could drive a new car off the lot for $8K or buy a house for $80K. My old man kept bitching about all the student loan forgiveness proposals until I told him what I still owed after making payments for 5 years and he just went blank like it didn't even properly register with him. Like he literally couldn't comprehend the idea that you can't pay off a graduate degree by flipping burgers for a couple summers anymore.
We're seeing levels of cognitive dissonance that shouldn't be physically possible.
I feel your pain.
Lol same. “What do you mean you’re still paying on a student loan?” As if the fucker didn’t have interest or something. Same dude bitches about maintaining his lifestyle while living off 5k per month in retirement with a paid off house, truck, and boat. If boomers think shit is gloomy with the younger generations now, wait until millennial and Z figure out social security won’t be a thing and with prices of everything they will never get to retire. I predict societally shit will really hit the fan in the next 5-10 years. I want to say I saw something that 70% of people who will reach retirement age in the next 10 years have 0 retirement savings.
The car dealership I walk my dog by everyday has a dodge pickup listed at $110,000. That's what my mom's fucking 5 bedroom 3 bath house cost when she bought it. The house is now appraised at like $600k.
Yeah but that truck might be worth $600k in a couple years, just do it anon
Was looking at cars again recently, got a 811 Score and 190k in paid debts and my last APR was 2.5% back in 2017 on a 48mo loan. Now every single APR is like 8% or 6% with perfect credit and 60-70% down-payment.
This market is insanely fucked and ill forever stay to paying cash, going to sell my 2017 for 15k sight unseen and sticking to my 80s and 90s Hondas. Absolute sucker clip these days even for the most qualified buyers.
This is NOT how you get generational buyers coming back again and again.
The economy is doomed in every sector.
My 2004 manual Hilux still runs like a dream.
Had all the radios ripped out and fitted it with modern infotainment system minus all the data harvesting shit, just a nice display and big GPS screen with bluetooth to play music.
Replaced the seats last year for a few hundred dollars.
Oil change and engine tuning once a year.
I'll keep this thing running forever, I'm never buying a computer on wheels, especially when that computer comes preloaded with spyware.
> 2004 manual Hilux
>I'm never buying a computer on wheels, especially when that computer comes preloaded with spyware.
well my credit is fucked from medical debt so I'm completely screwed
Pajeets need these used cars to drive for Uber Eats and find dogs to rape at the mall. This is why prices and demands are so high. If you're going to sell your used car to a New American, you should take a shit in the air conditioning ducts to make him feel at home.
how common is consensual beastiality in India such that they have to specify this case was rape
>how common is consensual beastiality in India
Is that a 2nd dog waiting?
Do I pay 18k for an f150 with 120k miles or wait?
Wait bro they can't give that shit away.
You'd be a complete mark buying in this economy. Hold on to your $ and go in on a private sale once it goes full upsidedown.
You'd get an f150 with 40k miles for the same price.
Dealerships are going to face the wash of a lifetime, banks don't want customers one bit and once it all goes to shit cash private sale will reign Supreme like its 2008 or 2009 again.
Same shit people kept saying about the housing market. Since I first started people saying that about housing, prices are up like 60%.
This Tuesday at around 7pm go to the YouTube channel "Sam and Nick's Perfect Clips" and watch the live show "Scuffed Realtor. It's this guy
Send in a $25 superchat and ask that very question. He'll tell you what to get.
I don't care if I look like I'm dick riding. Nick has helped me figure so much shit out.
Well fucking hell I'm looking for a used Sienna AWD, any other minivans out there with AWD/4WD that's as reliable as the Sienna?
>Well fucking hell I'm looking for a used Sienna AWD, any other minivans out there with AWD/4WD that's as reliable as the Sienna?
A newer AWD Sienna in XLE, SE, Limited, or Platinum trim. LE Siennas get the shit beaten out of them since those are family beaters. Limiteds and Platinums tend to be bought by rich families and old boomers with tablet addicted grandchildren. You're going to have to wait that one out because I'm waiting for one as well.
2015+ has reinforcement to pass Driver Side Small Offset Overlap.
2017-2018 had a recall for the 8 speed, the naggers over at the factory in MI didn't torque down a bolt properly so the transmission had an issue with shaking and vibrating uncontrollably. Don't know how many got fixed but people who know avoid 2017-2018 model Toyota Highlanders and Siennas with them. It's like 5-6 years by now so I don't know if they'll honor the warranty work for the TSB.
2019-2020 has the fixed transmission and the 2GR-FKS, you won't really feel 296hp unless you really rev it out, they recalibrated the throttle for economy and the transmission likes to hunt for gears if you're heavy on the throttle. Use manual mode if you are.
2021-2024 Siennas are all hybrids and will continue to be hybrids. Despite the lower power output, they are in practice faster than all Siennas 2016 and older. 2017-2020 Siennas are barely faster. Instant electric torque is magical for pulling a heavy vehicle.
>2021-2024 Siennas are all hybrids and will continue to be hybrids. Despite the lower power output, they are in practice faster than all Siennas 2016 and older.
I've been looking at used ones, I need one for my family and I like the hybrid aspect.
If you need one right now, it's better to shop around for a dealer that will give you MSRP. The used market is full of used up Siennas that are selling for MSRP, ready to settle down to another sucker. Why bother playing that game?
I would say that the 4th gen Sienna hybrid is an excellent choice. They went conservative on R&D this time around with NiMH battery packs, so if you own this thing long enough to refurbish the battery, it should be nearly identical to a Prius battery service, which is well documented on YouTube. The Sienna was already known for its longevity, and now with an uprated and upsized HSD drivetrain, it's got the potential to be even more reliable since the Prius is known to be a very economical and long lasting taxi candidate. This is in essence a Prius XXL.
Compared to the 3rd gen, the only reasons you'd want to stick with the older vehicle are a removable 2nd row or you like the V6 enough to eat through $1.5-$2k more fuel per year @ 15k mileage per year.
I never pay more than $5000. I shop the 10-12 year old cars. If your dick is too small this niche is not for you but I always end up with a decent, capable car that flies under the radar of itchy highway patrol assholes looking for flashy cars to pull over.
That Tahoe in your pic is a $15k vehicle in today's market. Maybe more.
Yes, that's how it used to be. In Europe people won't even consider selling their car if they don't get at least 5k for it.
I should write down everything this man has suggested.
It would steer everyone on /misc/ who's broke in the right direction.
All I know is Acura car and GMC truck because Acuras don't break and GMC trucks have parts that they can't give away fast enough.
all i know is this fucking asswqipe talks about every acura except my 2 integras.
>tfw havent seen another integra in over a year of owning it :O
i know ur here nickolas, i smoke on my 100$ carpet scrap until you recognize me senpai
The everything market is a joke right now. Houses, cars, groceries, you name it. The average westerner is about to be priced out of living. That's when the fun starts.
>let family pressure me into getting a European car
>spend nearly what I paid for the car on maintenance over the years because of the endless manufacturing issues
>finally decide enough is enough and want to trade it in and get a used Honda or Toyota
>despite being in great shape and having an engine that’s 50% new parts, the car hasn’t kept enough of its value to even cover the down payment on a newer used car
Learn from my mistake - NEVER buy European, frens!
If you're not sure, always go Honda Civic. There's literally nothing wrong with owning a Honda Civic.
Got a lead on a lightly used 2018 Civic I’m going to buy off a trusted coworker, under 60K miles, good condition.
Like I said, I let my family pressure me into it. I was fresh out of college, had a great new job, and was ready to get my first real car after driving a fucking 1980 Plymouth Horizon all through high school and college. Didn’t do deep enough research on the car - turns out the Germans engineered a complete shitbox - bad seals everywhere, had to replace the timing chain, serpentine belt, spark plug assembly, all the oil sensors, the fuel pump, the turbo, the list goes in. Yeah, some maintenance and repair is always going to be needed for any car, but I’ve averaged about $1.5-2K on it a year. I could have probably bought a new car with what I’ve spent keeping muh zuperiur jermun engineerink running. The car is in excellent condition and I’ve kept meticulous care of it, but I’ll unironically get more for it if I disassemble it and sell it for parts because nobody wants the actual car.
>turns out the Germans engineered a complete shitbox
Check the door jamb. Is the car actually made in Germany? If the car is NA it was most likely made in Guatemala or some other third world slum.
It’s legit German, previous owner shipped it over in 2010.
The worst car I ever owned was made in Dingofling, Germany. The BMW 750ix. Two engines before 90,000 miles.
What year/make euro car you got? in most cases if its any brand after 2009 youre a retard.
You'll take my D21 from my cold dead hands.
Fuck the manufacturers & dealers. And fick the israelites running the used market.
The used women market too
crazy bitch. Nothing a dick can't solve
She has humor. She can be saved.
Need to see her coalfax first, that's the determining factor.
Whemen moment. Instead of finding a man she makes tiktoks for views.
The new car and used car market got fucked during covid because of trump money, plus carvana and CarMax and.wall street funny money. Prices are way out of whack and need to correct but dealers are sitting on overpriced inventory, new and used. It seems like a buyers strike right now. Nobody left to buy $110,000 F150 and make $1100 payments for.seven years. It will correct but who knows when. Maybe if carvana goes bankrupt
you forgot microshit shortage
That was fake and gay.
>Maybe if carvana goes bankrupt
Dude, those spics in charge will run off with the money like they did last time. DriveTime and Carvana are from the same damn family of subprime lending.
The car market is already collapsing the dealers are just keeping their prices high online trying to sucker idiots, but you can find now cars that have sit to long and get them at reasonable prices. Things are only going to get worse for them as less and less people are able to finance
I keep seeing these fuckers’ ads spammed everywhere. I’d never even heard of them until six months ago. The fuck did they even come from?
Carmaxx, Carvana, I think a couple of other ones are just wall street fucks trying to BTFO the corner car lots. Carvana seems to have a date with bankruptcy though. They were throwing wads of cash at people during covid to buy old Corollas. They were one of the major factors in fucking up the used car market.
>The used car market is a joke right now.
The entire country is a joke.
had 4 cars before the pandemic
sold 3 for profit
right now is the time to dump the extra clutter sitting around car prices are insane
with the funds i bought a house and have 3 occupants already making me $6000 a month
sell that extra car now
invest in real estate now
i bought a car 2 years ago.
its worth 2x today.
i cant imagine buying a new car.
>the entire dashboard is a chinese ipad worth 3$
>probably looks like shit, too
The tablet UX is absolutely terrible for driving at night too. Night driving is something where having as little illumination really helps with visibility. I genuinely think touch interfaces are more dangerous than they come off as.`
I am going to put tint over the cluster and the touchscreen on my 2022 F150 because of this. I drive a couple hundred miles a week at night and I currently have to turn off the screen and put a hoodie in the instrument cluster recess to cover up all the lights. Thought my night vision was going bad but it was just all the blue light. I used to own a 70s Malibu and I could turn off the headlights and drive with just the flashers or no lights after my eyes adjusted at night. New cars are made for city cucks with street lights everywhere
>New cars are made for city cucks with street lights everywhere
Pretty much. I drive with sunglasses on at night if I have to borrow a car.
I wear my sunglasses at night
I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can keep track of the deer in the treeline!
You're not wrong. Work at a dealership and 99% of problems with new cars it's always some fucking stupid electrical or software issue due to all the needless technology they cram in the new vehicles. The only people I see who can afford new cars are old boomers who spend 100k on new luxury vehicles they have no idea how to use nor do they need them. I always laugh when brand new lincolns come in all dented to shit, with 10k of navigation and touch screens with the interior covered in paper maps the boomers use still
>it's always some fucking stupid electrical or software issue due to all the needless technology they cram in the new vehicles
It gets even better. High bandwidth CANBUS protocol is extremely voltage sensitive since everything uses PWM to communicate. If a module fails, everything downstream of it fails too. Even shoddy wiring can affect voltage, so some issues can't be fixed because it got cost-cut too much in design and production. If the engineers are dogshit (*cough* GM), something as simple as losing electrical ground will cause power steering, infotainment, A/C, and all high electrical load devices to fail, and can even do dumb things like induce misfires because the ignition system can't generate the 30k-40k volts to kill expensive iridium spark plugs since fuel economy requirements have encouraged automakers to create insanely hot spark and combustion.
BMW and Mercedes-Benz are particularly bad as well, but that's mainly because when things break, it has to get shipped from Europe and that's a lot of money and downtime. VAG is a punishment all its own with their inexplicably brittle plastics.
Best way to do that is a commercial vehicle if you want it new. Everything is optional.
if youve got a rec on a commercial vehicle, im open to suggestions. Checked out fords and their msrps were easily 30% more than the consumer lineup
Honestly I can't on the new end, because they're really tough value propositions these days. Vanlifers absolutely skyrocketed the price of commercial vans with the idea of a glamourous life of being homeless, trucks aren't that much better either with overlanders doing the same thing. The longstanding platforms have inflated to the moon.
Also, I think 2018+ means that you will get the backup camera no matter what. It's federally mandated.
The only ones that I haven't seen go completely insane are stuff like government fleet Suburbans/Tahoes and Nissan NV vans. However, Suburbans are going up in price since the new gen no longer has 2500 or 3500 spec ever since moving to independent rear suspension only, and people have a bitter taste about the Nissan Titan's abysmal reliability, which doesn't necessarily translate over to the NV. However, it is discontinued and does not receive reliable repair support.
It's funny. I have a 2004 Ford Focus that is going to hit 200,000 miles this year. I bought it in 2012 at $2,000 at 130,000 miles. When I did a price check on it a few months ago it was valued at $3,000. I really should sell it and get a newer used car before it dies on me.
>2004 Ford Focus that is going to hit 200,000
just keep it from rusting out, will run forever
I love cars and women
life is so easy
the same 2003 toyota corolla that i bought in 2015 is now more expensive than it was then
For me, its the state car safety inspections. I own a beater that'll never pass inspection. Cops are starting to enforce no-inspection stickers. Inspection stations won't pass vehicles unless they're immaculate.
>auto shop: you need new rotors
lemme guess, this is a service you provide and make a profit on.
>no inspection sticker unless you buy this product from us (that we mark up 50%)
rotor looks fine
>no, its not safe
everything flash rusts when they put 19 tons of salt per mile on the roads in the winter. its not unsafe
>the state gave me power to determine that. and since I need more money because times are tough, I'm gonna nitpick. The more things wrong I find, the more money I make.
must be nice
i let the homosexuals do the repairs once just to get the thing in the green and ever since everything has begun to fall apart. i will personally torch that fucking place.
That's how it goes with old cars. You fix something and something else breaks. I would honestly drive a 20-year old Toyota if it wasn't like that on their sedans. The newer ones won't even last 12 years.
Everything is a joke right now. Welcome to clown world
All cars are becoming luxury goods intentionally new or used. Anyone without one is soon gonna be priced out just like houses. My used car has doubled in value in the last 3 years when usually they lose value, fucking wild.
40, year mortgages and 10 year car loans are the new normal.
That is one of the main goal of the 2020-2030 Agenda. Get rid of the inefficient, polluting, space-taking and freedom giving gasoline cars!
>Cars are a depreciating asset
So why is my Kia Forte worth more now than when I bought it 6 years ago?
With current projections, it'll either crash hard, or we'll encounter a hyperinflationary scenario so harrowingly buck-breaking that anyone sitting on cash is going to get absolutely fucked.
Same ones that said inflation was transitory. Its pure copium. This is all happening just as WEF said it would. You will own nothing.
I'm just going off of prior history. It'll either be 2008 Part Two - Return of the Depression or Weimar levels of hyperinflation where a israelily buck broken economy prints its way out to try to pay denbts and reparations.
The US doesn't believe that it owes shit to anyone, so it'll probably be an economic crash, short of inducing civil conflict.
That's believing in gold standards and a countries military defeat. The USA has no military competition. And no one will challenge it. We go as far as reassuring Taiwanese we have their backs and supplying a ton of military weapons to Ukraine for use against Russia. No one dares question or challenge us. The country that rules militarily can dictate rules and do whatever the hell it wants. Voodoo economic is a made up bullshit by israelite demons to keep the plebs poor and subservient to them. Don't get you hopes high thinking this setup will fail and lead to some civil war bullshit. Watching too much israelite scripted, doomsday movies and shows.
>The USA has no military competition
except for those mountain-dwelling goat farmers in Afghanistan
It won't exist at all when battery cars take over.
Currently driving a Mercedes W212 facelift AMG line. 3.2L Turbo diesel with 70,000 miles on the clock and full Mercedes service history. I paid £7500 a few years back. How much would this car in this condition cost in north America?
>"I like Toyota Tacomas!"
>look up Tacoma TRD MSRP
>look up actual prices
>look up used prices
Not trying to negate your post, but I feel like tacomas have always been expensive trucks even when used. I bought a silverado 1500 in 2016 and I remember looking at tacos thinking how could a smaller truck cost more than this full size long bed with a v8
I just like the design. Also, the fact they're basically time-proof and you can order a new Tacoma engine like a pizza right to your door. It's why first-gen Tacomas still have value despite being 20 years old. Plus I merely hobby farm, I don't have need for a huge ass truck that can haul horses and such.
I agree, they've always been known as uber-reliable trucks. I'd drive one, but I'm a plus sized woman so i need a full size truck.
>I'm a plus sized woman
No woman calls herself a "plus sized" woman. YWNBAW.
that's one downside to everyone finding out Toyota makes the only cars worth owning. Used ones you'll see people trying to sell like 200+k mile toyotas for like 5k+
>Used ones you'll see people trying to sell like 200+k mile toyotas for like 5k+
I wish $5k, dude. There's plenty of Tacos out there creeping on 200,000mi and still fetching five-digits. That's because aside from maybe some rust on the frame, there's functionally nothing wrong with it. And what is wrong with it, you can swap out cheaply in your garage for the most part. It's like the Japs invented a Lego truck.
Like, I've seen a Camry engine taken apart after 300,000 miles on it, and there was literally nothing wrong with the cylinders, which is insane. Nothing needed to be replaced. Just a clean-up job and a reassemble.
Im not saying its not worth taking a chance on on owning and using a 200+k mile toyota, but its a huge risk. Its not worth more than a few grand,.
New Toyota trucks are now shit since they are now turbo v6 pieces of shit. If you haul shit, you need a V8, no way around it.
trucks last forever and that's why they are expensive.
50k for a car that lasts you 30 years?
sounds like a decent investment
Even 90s Tacomas cost 5 to 7 grand, when a ranger or S10 from the same era costs 2 to 4 grand. The Toyota Tax is real, and it's up to you if you want to pay it.
DON'T remind me. I am trying to upkeep my 2015 Ford I bought new and paid for. Regular tuneups, suspension upkeeps. Praying to the Lord it continues working with no major problems for another 10 years. I have 180K hwy miles because I used it for work. I can afford another car, new or used today.
I just sold a 1997 F150 4x4 for 10k here. It was probably in the nicest condition I have ever seen one though.. still 250 000 kms
The used women market is a joke right now
I paid $5000 for my Toyota Avalon in 2012. Drove it 100000 miles. Sold it for $5000. Kek!
The free money from the lockdowns destroyed the auto markets. There wasn't enough new cars being built to fill demand, and used prices went crazy, and have barely gone down.
Government picking winners and losers using the printing press. My next door neighbour got a brand new Transit Custom from free .gov money.
shoulda had these threads for years now
>>>LULZ stealing our threads
>bought beat honda fit for 1700 last year
>some carfags on israelitetube made a video about it
>shit's worth like 3 grand now
>some carfags on israelitetube made a video about it
>>shit's worth like 3 grand now
I fucking hate this. At least I bought an old Buick before this happened. But I already sold it. So I guess never again
How long do you think this bubble will continue? At what point will $1000 break consumers causing a repo wave?
i hope to God that it starts today. I hope today is the day.
>i hope to God that it starts today. I hope today is the day.
This, it can't come fast enough.
>At what point will $1000 break consumers causing a repo wave?
Already has. Problem is that repos won't cause vehicle prices to crash, because the cars that are flooding the auctions are junk cars.
It requires a flood of trade-ins to crash the overall auto market. People aren't trading in for new cars, and it takes a few years for new cars to crash in price because dealers using floorplan loans can defer it for a while until the bank gets pissed and calls the note to liquidate it at ANY price. Banks would rather get money than take their car back. That's the stalemate that's happening right now.
So what is your prediction on the outcome of this stalemate?
Depends on the duration and severity of the recession. Cars aren't houses but you can look at the housing market right now. It has the lowest sales in decades due to increased rates and car affordability is just as bad.
We will see a stalemate dead market for a while until 1 of 2 things happens:
1. Massive crash as people race for the door to unload toxic assets
2. Government intervention and artificial supply restrictions to keep prices high
Let's be honest it's 2
I got a good condition 2012 Toyota Rav4 for 10k the other day….
Was this a good buy? It only has 90k miles
In their unicorn farts fever dreams maybe.
What people fail to understand is that the 'Great Reset' already happened.
no, it is obvious. many haven't allowed their subconscious to become conscious awareness yet. in the villages in Florida, they are still building large tract retirement communities. one difference - the dwellings are all for rent, not for sale.
I'm so glad my uncle sold me his shitbox civic before moving.
i have 96 ranger 4L v6 with 250k miles still purrs like kitten, rust will kill it before anything else does
>rust will kill it before anything else does
iktf. I had to get rid of my zx2 due to rust, I beat the fuck out of it for a decade and it didn't care one bit. I just gave it good oil. great cars but they rust out like hell.
not my pic but mine had the same rocker rot.
any desert anons out there look for these, they're cheap as shit and with a manual trans they're very fun. miss that 2.0L zetec.
I've been trying to sell a 2016 VF redline SS with an LS3 in it for 3 months and I can't find anyone to fucking buy it.
Dude, you have no more homegrown Australian car industry anymore. Selling that VF is going to come with a lot of regret because you have the swan song of hoonmobiles.
Don't be that bitter Australian boomer who sells their burnout machine, only to realize 40 years later it's got orders of magnitude of value in nostalgia resale, and then legislate to ruin the act of driving for everyone.
I know I know but I need the money so badly interest rates have increased so much I'm at a real risk of losing my house.
Demand for cars is down and sales are down. That's why you see heavy advertising all over again. Are you working for a car manufacturer?
We're in a recession. You're going to see a lot of "buy now" as they try to get you to baghold all sorts of stuff.
I don't buy it.
Provide economic data points proving we are not in a recession. Because everything I look at says we are.
When I hear (experts say) we are in a recession or coming into one, I do the opposite.
So you have no idea what you're talking about. Thank you for confirming that.
its your shit country and you dont even realise they are pricing you out of " used cars " and forcing you to buy new ? how many vaccines did you have anon ?
people are willing to pay more for a car that isn't bugged by their ~~*democratically elected*~~) government? go figure
Car makers and the gov are working hand in hand to make new cars so expensive they become out of reach to the middle class. That's why used cars are so expensive now. Covid was part of that plan.
If you can't afford an EV, the gov doesn't want you on the road. They want you packed like sardines on public transportation.
Everyone keeps trying to buy my v8 truck from me. I will not sell it or trade it. I absolutely cannot wait until everybody has an EV and gas drops to under $1 a gallon, and everyone will wonder why their electricity bill quadrupled out of nowhere
>Everyone keeps trying to buy my v8 truck from me
A neighbor sold his Tesla and now driving a V6 diesel truck. Loves it. Added some open source self driving to it, basically can't beat it.
>Added some open source self driving to it, basically can't beat it.
What's this now?
hopefully this. Bought a V8 Tundra while neighbors are buying Teslas and Mustang Mach Es because of it.
Probably the objectively correct choice for the long haul, Tundras usually only hit the market because people ragequit the horrible fuel economy. Other than that they're very reliable.
>buy an '88 Dodge Ram 50 for $2,500
>only 74k miles on it
I love this little truck like you wouldn't believe
>tfw only 9k miles/14k km on my 2019 'rolla
I'm fucking rich guys
It's called inflation.
It's pathetic really. People are like. Wow used cars so expensive! Wow gas so expensive! Wow food so expensive! Wow house so expensive! Thank goodness Biden passed the inflation reduction act (note: it just increases inflation)
The Amerikan dollar is worthless and in its death throes. AmeriKKKa will fall and people will not even understand as their money is devalued 2x, 3x, 4x. They will not fight back. They won't do shit.
Any us bros think it'll get better?
I really need a new/er ride.
yeah, I think it will this summer into next year. I think there's basically a buyer's strike, plus recession, but the market is so fucking hosed it'll take some kind of big event to knock prices down to something reasonable, like down 30-50%. Carvana bankruptcy could do it--but they might not go bankrupt. Car maker going bankrupt could help. Big wave of defaults on car loans could help... It'll all add up. But it might be the last time for a deal when it does happen because the feds want to wreck the ICE car market.
Thoughts and prayers.
>Imagine not being able to drive to Germany and steal a new BMW or AUDI
we are basically being raped both by inflation due to an incompetent government/fed while entering a modernized version of the CAFE efficiency standards of the 70's. manufacturers have to meet these new government mandates on emissions and mpg, so we have cars with garbage cvt's or expensive 6,7,8, or even 10 speed transmissions. add direct injection on top of that, and you have cars that are more expensive to buy and maintain and are less reliable than the vehicles of a decade ago.
if you want a new, reliable car for less than 20k, your only option is the 5 speed nissan versa.
We are mainly being raped because the FED and all the central banks around the world are exponentially inflating the money supply.
got my mazda for 7k. quite a bargain tbqhdesufam. though as with everything, gotta have connections.
>car warranty is up
>wiper fluid indicator goes off
>light car on fire
What's the punchline? I don't get it.
kek my car is 10 years old and carfax value is 60% what i paid for it
i got a vw jetta for 10k prepandemic,, put like 40k miles on it and crashed it like 3x, only reason it didnt get totalled the second to last time was bc the airbag sensor failed to deploy.
sold it to carvana for 13k with a shit ton of damage i didnt report on it after another 'fender bender'...
i was 'microdosing' alot. fwiw
>bought 2007 Mazda 3 5speed for 3500 dollars plus government tip in 2016
>same car in shit tier condition is 5k+
>if you want any shitbox that's certified going to cost you at least 4.5-8k now
Honestly fucking insane, this cars on it's last legs right now but I don't want to go spend a stupid amount on another shitbox.
