That is different though, the correction is that you only have to buy two bags of chips, not four, the get the sale price.

They're not the same. 4 for 10 means you'd need to buy 4 total to get the deal. Just like you can't just get 1 bag for 2.50

      >you can't just get 1 bag for 2.50
sometimes you can. At the grocery store when things are 2 for 5 you can just buy 1 for 2.50.

Usually stuff like that will say MUST get 2 to get the deal

Otherwise the 1 bag of chips is regular price instead of 2.50

It depends on the store, here. Some let you have it for the price listed, others make you buy multiples.

    It isn't.
    >Flyer says you need to buy 4 bags to get the deal when the reality is you need to only buy 2.

Stores where I live often use "2 for $5" to mean $2.50 each but they would like it if you bought more than one. When they require you to buy two to get the special price they say "2 for $5, must buy 2". You can of course buy 4 for $10 too unless they also say "limit 2 per customer", in which case you can usually get more with multiple trips to the register unless you're buying stupidly many in which case they become suspicious that you're taking advantage of their sale to stock a competing store that's going to resell them for a profit - though this is usually just when they're selling them at cost or at a loss to bring more people through the door.

If that store uses "4 for $10" to mean "must buy 4", the correction is reasonable.

    its clearly different
    >4 x 10 = 40
    >2 x 5 = 10
