a very, very small percentage of population were rulers at any given point in time though. if you were born 500 years ago you'd likely be a peasant barely making ends meet. the average person has it much better nowadays.

nein, imagine if you had a flock of cattle, and you lived off milk and meat. So I dont know what you think you mean by 'Barely making ends meet'. Nowadays you have to work in a stuffy office for money, rather than living off the earth. The earth provided everything that people needed

yes your life was stable and you had way more freedom from intrusive goverment. Not everyone was a serf and even if you were life was less stressful and chaotic. And if you wanted adventure you could have it.Now you cant have a simple stable life nor can you have any real adventure.

You can literally do that now. In fact it is much easier to do this than at any point in history. Why don't you? Because you prefer the comforts of civilization to the hardships of actually having to literally work for a living.

    >The industrial revolution and it's consequences have been a disaster for the human race

    Yes.
The industrial revolution brought in new employment practises that were massively detrimental to the living and working conditions of the wage earning classes. The opportunity to utilize technology in a way that liberates those from the bondage of exploitive labour seems to have been thus far missed.
    It's a human tragedy.

Technology destroying civilization is a fairly recent thing, even if you factor in environmental damage and AGW.

You don't want pre-industrial society, you just want society without Twitter or dating apps.

Depends what they do with it. Just because it has the word "Nuclear" in it doesn't necessarily make it harmful.

There are plenty of scientific research you can do with nuclear weapons.

Then the next generation is not my problem either, so what use is there to Ted's philosophy?

Any way, Ted was just trolling. He just wanted to hurt people in tech because he felt modern society had done him wrong personally. He cared nothing for nature or humanity, it was just personal revenge and him jacking off to the thought of people getting hurt.

I agree in most ways, the added convenience is nice but certain things like social media are destroying humanity.

But the cat's out of the bag now, there's no way to put it back in. We have to ride this all the way down until it explodes, and hopefully rebuild from the ashes.

you use tech to destroy tech. uncle ted made use of the fruits of industrial society to build and sent those bombs. and to spread his manifesto far and wide.

i don't think industry or technology itself is to blame, i think it's our irresponsible use of it to feed our superficial desires for glory, wealth, vice and corruption. people ought to realize that all things will end, but if we keep struggling to attain something external we will continue the same pointless cycle as those before us.
the brave man, no longer fueled by anything material has made peace with his mortality and embraces the freedom he has by following his heart. only then will he be happy and escape from the cycle

Before the industrail revolution population density was much smaller and so disease was much less prevalent, most of the treatments and vaccinations you have recieved in your life are for diseases which have only becme prevalent in the last 200 years. Furthermore you now have the risks of dying in car accidents, from gun violence, and if you are around people who dont practice good hygiene you are probably far more likely to get trivial colds as well as non-trivial diseases than a pre-industrial man would be
