If I remember correctly, a salary past a certain amount plateaus you happiness. Basically, money does make you happier, but it eventually reaches a limit. Upgrading from a 45k to an 80k salary would make you happier. Upgrading from 120k to 180k probably would have much much less of an effect. You reach the point where you have all the material items you ever really wanted and still can't buy meaningful relationships with other people.

A salary of instant 3836382725383 million trillion gorillion would make me the happiest man forever because i could then do quite literally anything i want
180k would mean i still have to show up to work because i cant retire on such measly funds
relationships and community are a fucking meme

money solves problems. if a problem can be solved by money then it will make you happier when the problem goes away. if you have problems unsolvable by money, having money means you can focus on those problems without worrying about other problems

the goal of making money is that eventually you hit escape velocity. 200k to 300k doesn't change anything. but going from millionaire to billionaire changes everything

Money itself doesn't equal happiness, but money provides you the means to do other things that could make you happy.

Money buys freedom. For many that can lead to happiness but for some it leads to apathy and emptiness.

You have to spend money to survive, to buy food and shelter and such.
You work in order to get money.
However, if you procure enough money you no longer need to work all the time. Because you have enough money to buy your food and shelter without needing to work. That is how money buys freedom.
However, some people need some kind of structure. They need a daily grind like a job. Without it they begin to question their lifes meaning.

    Money =/= happiness
But it makes it a lot easier to be happy. Financial problems and paying other people to do the grunt work lets you have time to do fun things

money increases your happyness up to ~300k USD/yr. Somebody will tell you less but that's an old study. New thing called inflation, google it.

So the answer is yes, but only to a point.

    >Yes and no
Money can certainly help you out in life, and if you have enough of it there are certain problems that you will simply never have to deal with as a result that it will never cause you Unhappiness
Money can also buy you things that make you happy, like if you have a hobby, or a vacation
    > However
I think most of the happiness money buys is fleeting, and that true long term happiness doesn't come from money or anything that you can buy, it comes from real true meaningful relationships and having a purpose that makes you feel fulfilled

You surely cant engage in lots of hedonism if you have money, but most people with lots of money are sociopaths with shallow emotion so feel empty despite how loaded and privileged they are. This leads to the sociopaths abducting people and goring them for sport to get rid of boredum.

i earn above 90% of all population in my country working a relatively prestigious gov job and am in here with you during weekend as a young dude where most other dudes my age are out with gfs and friends and shit

    what do you think

you'll find there are many people who are well off (but not rich) that are unhappy, judges prosecutors people from the federal reserve assuming those earn well where you're from, so on and so forth, many of these dudes are 40+ and childless, go ask if they're happy with their triple digits

you dont have money you have a salary and a wage
      >you cant afford a space station and a rocket >you cant afford a private island
      >you cant afford to give your loved ones if you had them a 5 star hotel in a different country every day for a year
      >you cant afford to quit your job forever
      >you cant afford the finest medicine in the world to treat you or your loved ones
      >you cant afford to bring someone out of homelessness
      you are not rich
      you dont have money

        >you cant afford to bring someone out of homelessness
i earn well enough to afford my living expenses twice, I do not understand your point

        >you're not rich
never said I was, but if being in the top 95% isn't enough then my understanding is that money does not in fact bring you happiness because people who earn way less have everything I wanted to have

        >b-but you're not a millionaire
not the point of the thread

"Money doesnt buy happiness" is something rich people tell poor people to keep them in submission.

Money liberates you, you can be free, you can do anything, even bend laws (Fines are pretty much paying to do something that is forbidden for poor people)
I would rather choose to be rich and make my happiness than be poor and try to make my happiness

      >you can do anything, even bend laws
i can't bend the laws of reality and turn myself into a flawless anime girl. if i knew that i could buy that then i would already found myself on wall street
rich old people age and decay. all the powerful men and women are still geriatric and fat. we haven't gotten to the point where the wealthy are genetically enhanced hyperchads yet.

Money by itself isn't happiness since it is just a bunch of paper. But as a tool it can be, where you can always use it to invest in shit that you like, and donate to things that matter to you, like accelerating trannies into killing themselves by paying for their dick cutting surgery.
