Read these posts thinking about 2010, but then remembered that 10 years ago was 2013.

where the fuck have you been? seriously? no one even uses firefox anymore. use brave, or literally ANYTHING else that is chromium except vivaldi, opera, or chrome, those are closed source spyware.

This isn't an issue with non-retarded OS. You can also disable automatic updates.

      😀

      Not (OP)
      I don't have this option.
Do I need a special version of firefox to get this option back?
      I used to have it.

I haven't been able to find any information online regarding it.

Yeah install the snap version then it will only update at a time when you aren't running firefox.

        >I use Windows
Everytime i've used Windows, Firefox had autoupdates off, to the point i had to go out of my way to update it since my uni was consistently 5 versions behind everytime i used it

What are you talking about? Only retards need to regularly turn their computers on and off.
I want to keep my browser open as long as _I_ choose to. Brave has no problems with that, only crappy browsers misbehave.

you do realize chrome is even stricter in forcing you to upgrade? what am i saying, ofc you don't, you're a /misc/troon addicted to console warring between tech companies

      Anonymous

nah you dont use chrome. Chrome won't force an upgrade while you're using it. It happens either during startup or shutdown - if you have disable background service.

and you can disable updates altogether in firefox, so we're all arguing in another dogshit homosexual bait thread made by a seamonkey

Eventually the update notifications become more aggressively. I wouldnt be surprised if they restart (when not in use) after a week.

I get you cum guzzling homosexuals got used to being raped by devs from California on a daily basis, but since when breaking your workflow and losing data is minor? Oh wait, people can't have respect for themselves anymore. We must endure because, like, when they, like, force you to do extra unnecessary steps, it is, like, freedom.

Works on my machine. Updates are via my package manager instead of being scattered across individual applications

      Anonymous

It's the opposite, the package manager is the problem.
If the package manager changes Firefox's files while it's running, then Firefox has no choice but to force a restart.

Just, don't update your system while you use firefox?

What are you even trying to say now, nagger?
The point is that using a package manager is not a "fix", it's actually the only reason the problem can appear.

Based. We believe that Firefox is the best browser, it’s the one from Linux and it allows for a little more ricing. Chrome is globohomo and steals your data. Why don’t you have auto updates disabled? Literally everyone disables auto updates on new software. You don’t go through menus the moment you install something? Anyway, still using Firefox.

    That’s a wrap boys, I think this one’s done.
