excuse you, it's the USS Shenandoah built in 1923 in Akron Ohio by the Goodyear-Zeppelin company and destroyed in 1925 when it flew into a storm front over the appalachians. it got ripped in two and half the crew fell out to their deaths, and the two halves drifted like balloons until they gently landed twenty miles apart. one of the survivors was shot by a paranoid farmer

It is. Their similar looks are not coincidence, both were designed from the plans Tank had for the Huckebein, which the Soviets captured in Germany. As Tank wasn't able to finish construction of the Huckebein before the war ended he had to settle for the Pulqui in Argentina.

To the best of my knowledge the "weird autist obsessive moron gf" is merely leading me on. She says she texted me, while I did not receive any texts from her. I told her that, she did not answer me. What else am I supposed to do?
I think i'm autistic, but only the bad parts of it. Like i can't do math well or remember dates but i'll make you feel weird. You drop a bunch of toothpicks and i won't know how many there are but i'll give you a shitty hug.
No it's not and you know it. Just another moron trying to bait incels for attention. Just like every butthole that does this you'll frick off eventually and nothing of value was actually made.
Here's the thing, I really wouldn't because she'd never shut the frick up. It's the same reason why I'd never date or frick someone into tech because after awhile, I know and I don't care and it's not ground-breaking to regurgitate information. This is why I don't trust anyone when they say they are autistic, less talking more doing, "autist".
I don't feel like asking for your discord and risking finding out you are not the one specific person I am looking for. Tell me if it is fair, I don't know if it is.

Great plane, what about it? Aesthetically I really like the ones with the intake up front like the MiG-9 or the Sabre and I understand they're not optimal but wish new ones were still made. I like most planes. Variable sweep winged ones are shit and overrated though, no exceptions. They usually look terrible in the swept configuration too.

The Tornado doesn't look that bad (for a variable sweep) but they usually look like shit. Especially the Tomcat, it's the wristlet equivalent of planes, thin as paper for how massive it is. It's gap between the tail and wings in the swept configuration triggers my autism too.

There is only one reason to dislike variable sweep angle wings: the maintenance costs. The more moving parts a mechanism has, the generally it is more expensive to maintain it in working order.
The B-1 is still in active service (so is its Russian clone, the Tu-160) and so are Tornadoes. If you dislike the Tomcat you just have shit taste and should reconsider your entire life. That, is just inexcusable.

There are plenty of disadvantages, for one there's no way it can sustain the same stress forces as a fixed wing. Also it's extra weight, inertia is really bad in a fighter, the last thing you want in something that is supposed to turn quickly is more mass, this is one of the reasons not every plane has VTOL too. The weight also reduces the operational range. And on top of it, it's not even a great advantage to have, the F-15 handles better than the Tomcat at both sub and supersonic speeds, and I'm pretty sure there weren't any big advances in engines or metallurgy in between the two.
Variable sweep is interesting but basing a generation on the idea was stupid and most likely there was something political going on, no branch of any army accepts unconventional things with that little testing that easily.

I would like to read the data about the F-15 being as maneuvrable at subsonic speeds, that doesn't sound right to me. And yeah, those are some serious disadvantages variable sweep wings do have, that is an undeniable fact.

Nice quads, champ. I tried quickly searching for a source but couldn't find one. There are accounts of pilots saying the F-15 beat Tomcat in air to air exercises most of the time though. The extra lift of the straight wing configuration in the Tomcat was mostly to help with delivering payload, it wouldn't help much against a plane that weights a third as much, no matter the speed. Dogfights also rarely go below transonic speeds, although I know this last point is moving the goalpost.
I don't have hard data, but I'd assume the variable wing of the Tomcat primarily serves to allow it similar performance and payload from a carrier. The 15 does not have to worry about that. Bet the 15 outperforms it on most fronts, but I do love the tomcat also. Navy planes almost always make sacrifices in some manner. Agree that anyone that doesn't like the 14 is lame.
It's not that much about the carrier but rather the payload. F-15 was not designed for nor ever had to carry as heavy a payload as the Tomcat. Maybe there's not much sense in comparing 2 planes that were developed and saw service side to side for different purposes, but having the Super Hornet is definitely better than having these two, so I still don't see much merit in variable sweep angle.

>The extra lift of the straight wing configuration in the Tomcat was mostly to help with delivering payload
The extra lift from the straight wing was to allow it to take off from aircraft carriers. > having the Super Hornet is definitely better than having these two
...The Super Hornet is a plane a good two decades newer than both the Tomcat and the legacy F-15. No shit Sherlock. And were it not for its very limited operative range the F-22 would shit on all those, I mean at the same time.

By the way. The F-22's main vulnerability in case of combat would be aerial refueling and the fact there is no stealth tanker in existence that I am aware of. The X-47B does not really count. As far as I know it is not yet operative in that role.

>The extra lift was for takeoff.
You're looking at this the wrong way around. Fixed swept winged aircraft can catapult off a carrier easily. If the Tomcat needed straight wings for takeoff it's because of its extra weight from all the useless shit in it, not because straight wings were a requirement for takeoff. In fact I'm pretty sure it would have been able to take off with swept wings just fine, especially when lightly loaded, but why bother trying when so many disadvantages were piled on it just to give it straight wings. >Super Hornet is two decades newer.
That's why I brought up the F-15 to argue against variable sweep angle at first, what I meant was that the fact variable sweep didn't make it to the next gen speaks volumes.

I do not believe the Tomcat has excessive amounts of "useless shit" in it. But I am pretty sure the point of the swept wings was to give it the necessary lift at takeoff while carrying its full payload of AIM-54s (the weapon system the Tomcat is built around, it is a plane born as a soviet supersonic bomber interceptor) and fuel, while retaining good mobility at high speeds, that the straight wings are not suited fore. The concept of variable sweep angle wings died because of better design and technology. If you look at the contemporary European made contemporary fighters (Typhoon, Rafale, Gripen), they all share a delta canard configuration. The most advanced US fighter, the F-22, uses thrust vectoring control that has some capabilities comparable to variable sweep wings.

I do not see any data that shows how the F-15 is as maneuvrable as the Tomcat at low speeds. The bigger wingspan and the different shape given by the variable sweep angle makes me think the Tomcat retains energy in turns better than the F-15 does.
