Christianity is true, but it's popular cults peddled to the masses are as devoid of spirituality as the earlier pagan religions. You can find enlightenment through Christianity, the Orthodox wrote a good deal of texts, but it's way easier to find it in Buddhism.

      Anonymous

Orthodox theology doesn't make sense because it highlights man's free cooperation over God's moving in the man, but they cope by either reciting long winded word salad that goes nowhere, or by saying you can't understand because you don't have the Holy Spirit

        Anonymous

I'm not speaking about theological speculation, but about mysticism. Check out the Philokalia, the teachings of the Hesychasm have a lot in common with Theravada buddhism if you can overlook the massive emphasis on demons and self-mortification.

Buddhism is a false religion. Mara is the same as the devil, the "morningstar" that enlightened Buddha was also the devil, it's a common name for him. Buddhism is a deception and a massive lie. It has some truth but mostly lies. Same with Islam and Hinduism. Little truths with massive lies sprinkled throughout. Christ is Lord

don't you think the fate of your eternal soul is one of the most interesting things you could have a stake in though

I don't know if it's true or not but I do know that what god did to Job was unforgivably immoral

how can you have the ego to say "an omnipotent God might be real but I have better morals than him"
isn't is possible for him to have reasons beyond our understanding

      >because extraordinary claims required extraordinary evidence to justify their beliefs.
what if there was a lot of ordinary good evidence for something extraordinary instead

I have no problem with Christianity, but oh boy do I have a problem with protestants, especially americans who think that anything that happens to you is the will of God. Using God's will as a crutch removes any kind of responsibility you have. You can use it to justify anything, and americans do this a lot. How many times have I seen american "Christians" being the worst kinds of degenerates? Drugs, porn, grooming, weird fucking denominations etc. And everytime I point that out to them, they tell me it's "between me and God" and "God's will". Every fucking time. "Noooo you can't criticize me, it's not my fault!". But then they turn around and call ME a degenerate when I say something they don't like. What kind of hypocrisy is this?

Modern christianity is wrong. Too much focus on Jesus the man and not Jesus the anointed. Christianity is a metaphor legalized by the romans and turned into the literal. Just like the israelites did to their texts.
For example "you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live". This is a metaphor. I've seen god before and I did not literally die. God has no single face either. Almost everything in the bible is a metaphor or straight up a lie.

Hell is inherently irrational. Eternal torture makes no sense; why would you torture someone for eternity, and not give them a chance to change? It's only useful as a threat, but it's illogical to carry out. Past that, it's just sadistic.

Because NDEs are actually solid proof of life after death, because anyone can have them if they come close to and survive death. And they are so extremely real to those who have them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U00ibBGZp7o

As this NDEr described their NDE:

    >"Now, what heaven looks like? 'OMG' doesn't even describe how beautiful this place is. Heaven is, there are no words. I mean, I could sit here and just not say anything and just cry, and that would be what heaven looks like. There are mountains of beauty, there are things in this realm, you can't even describe how beautiful this place is. There are colors you can't even imagine, there are sounds you can't even create. There are beauties upon this world that you think are beautiful here. Amplify it over there times a billion. There are, it's incredibly beautiful, there's no words to describe how beautiful this place is, it's incredibly gorgeous."

And importantly, even dogmatic skeptics have this reaction, because the NDE convinces everyone:
    https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/mysteries-consciousness/202204/does-afterlife-obviously-exist

So anyone would be convinced if they had an NDE, we already know this, no one's skepticism is unique. And the book in pic related is known to convince even hardened skeptics that there is an afterlife.

    >muh brain chemistry

Neuroscientists are convinced by NDEs too. What do skeptics think they understand that neuroscientists do not?

    >muh DMT causes it

Scientifically refuted already, and NDErs who have done DMT too say that the DMT experience, while alien and really cool and fun, was still underwhelming to the point of being a joke when compared to the NDE.

And religious people become spiritual too after an NDE.

Something isnt true because you cant disprove it, rather it is true if evidenced in some manner, and all the "evidence" for christianity is equally explained by other hypotheses, not to mention christianity not making specific novel testable predictions and instead having vague prophecies that can be interpreted as events all through history or having not occured. Classic burden shift though

If you accept it's real it doesn't make much sense. God wants people to suffer for 80 years to see if they accept Jesus as their savior? That's why everything exists including the rest of the universe which is literally 60,000,000,000,000,000,000 times larger than Earth where God chose to focus on?

Because Pamela Kribbe channeled the real Jesus Christ, I can feel his love through the messages delivered through her. What "Christians" believe in is mostly just a bunch of dogma, fairytales, and lies.

Because there is always an element of some nerdy fag wearing a gay hat and robes asking people to donate money to him BECAUSE REASONS which should be the only red flag you need to tell you that it's a scam and not a genuine philosophical viewpoint.

There may or may not be a god or creator out there,or maybe even multiple, and if there is a god it doesnt mainly focus on this shitsphere we call earth

Christian mysticism is as true as any mysticism, mysticism is a grand unifying truth and points to the same thing in every religion and god is real.
But the sole scriptura Protestants that I know make extremely bold claims about miracles that happen everywhere and perpetually and then jump through hoops to explain why you cant actually walk on water(and move mountains and other things) as you logically should be able to do if what they are saying is true.

    >your single best reason why Christianity isn't true
Why would it be? How many magic rabbis with fucking D&D mend-wound spells have you seen in your lifetime? How many magic rabbis intervened to stop 50 million people from dying gruesome deaths during or as a result of World War 2? Use your own eyes and ears and you be the judge of that shit.

All the cool shit's supposed to happen when you're dead and that's way too convenient of a cop-out.
    >"Well nobody knows what happens when you die."
Yes we do. You decay and microorganisms (or macro-organisms if a bear gets you) eat you, shit you out, and your cells enter back into the food web like every other organism that ever existed on Earth for the last 2 billion years.
    >Yeah but how can you knoooooow-know?
Because why would there be a ghost world? How long has ghost hunters been on the air? 15 years? How many ghosts have they caught? Again, use your own eyes and ears and figure this shit out.

It's a lot nicer to think that this isn't all some big test. Sure, it's a gay quote, but it rang pretty true for me. I like to think that when we die, we'll either return to nothing or be immediately reincarnated. Just enjoy the ride and embrace the absurdity of it all.
