Wrangler is more capable off road and is safer due to having a more competent engine. and better gas mileage to boot with 4xe. theres no reason for the Jimny to come to the US

It's been proven that the jimny is just as capable
The wrangler has a terrible safety rating and ironically FLIPS on the small overlap
The 4xe offers 3 miles of range

Its shit compared to the jimny

so it didn't do shit, and Ford isn't even a jap manufacturer. where's Toyota's fine? where is nissan's fine? where is Shitsubishi's fine? they all sold small trucks in the US and all skirted the toothless chicken tax.

the supreme court refused to hear the appeal, so Ford is going to have to pay. The japs got around it for a while by importing bedless trucks, like the Chevy LUV but that loophole got plugged. Now they all build them here in the United States. Of course you already knew that

All that amounted in was them being forced to ship the unused seats back to Turkey/Spain to be installed in cars again. Originally what they did was import them all as passenger vans then yeet the rear seats before the customer picked it up if they wanted a cargo van. Pretty based, like how Datsun trucks used to be imported without beds, then the beds were built here and mated with the truck so the final assembly point was still the USA. Don't know if that loophole got patched, but it might have as I haven't heard of anything newer doing that. The Subaru BRAT also famously skirted the chicken tax with the jump seats in the bed.

so basically, it didn't do shit. the Chicken tax isn't what stopped small trucks from jap manufacturers in the US, it was the simple fact that people stopped buying them. why do you think even small trucks from american manufacturers also died. the transit connect is also getting discontinued btw, not because of the toothless tax, but because of low sales.

It's because the government hates poor people. It's assumed rich people are smart enough to not wreck hypercars and poor people are too dumb to not flip a shitbox (this is true btw) so the government doesn't let cheap fun cars exist in the US. They claim it's for safety but they still allow motorcycles, it's just about suppressing the lower classes by making transportation more expensive.

Underpowered. Suzuki couldn't sell enough to make it worth while because only 3 homosexuals in the entire country want a Jimny. You, your boyfriend, and Doug Demuro. Unless you're Doug, which means there are only 2 homosexuals that want that Barbi jeep.

    hello i am jimny fanboy,

is it possible to turn a grab an samurai (or sidekick),,
throw in a better drivetrain and upgrade suspension/wheels, sound deadening to make it drive like a range rover or something,,? (electric steering pum,p maybe?)

big fan of the chassis and look,, but not sure if pumping gear into it will make it any more better to drive (especially at higher speeds),, anything as long as im not fuckin rumbling my ass off trying to make a long drive

I daily'd an 87 tin top for a couple years. The cushy seats and tall sidewalls made it ride comfy enough. The manual steering rack was fine. I took it on a couple 4 hour highway trips and it was comfortable other than the lack of A/C. I just opened the windows and wore earplugs. The only real issue was it struggled to maintain 65mph up hills. I believe these issues were addressed with the Sidekick/Vitara, but I haven't been in one personally.

The 1.6L 16V engine from the Vitara fits the Jimny with some modification and there's plenty of suspension options and offroad accessories available. Keep in mind that big offroad tires will make it significantly slower (acceleration and top speed) and more difficult to steer. If you're wealthy enough to mod the Jimny, you're wealthy enough to purchase a second car for long trips, which is what I'd recommend. It's really not that uncomfy though, any straightpiped car on coilovers is worse.

It's never gonna be a super comfy ride, that short wheel base makes bumps just harder to smooth out. They can definitely be modernized a bit, but sound deadening will be a challenge, the doors are damn near paper thin, and you don't have much room to put in sound deadening.

If the engine in my Samurai ever gives up the ghost, I'm gonna do a VW TDI swap. Their are kits out there for doing the swap, and you get a massive boost to mileage.

    CAFE standards is why.
They would have to offer up some other portion of the lineup to offset the worse mpg these get due to fitting in the smaller passenger vehicle category that pickups are conveniently sized to not go into. But they're not going to try to humor crash regulations on their tiny vehicles either.

So it might be better to ask what their US relaunch lineup would look like that would eventually introduce the Jimny Sierra? I don't think anything from their kei lineup would come, even if the Hustler would move units just on name alone.

The carwow video on it shows the roof bulging a bit when the door closes. It doesn't really do that on mine, which is the passenger version. Don't know where else they cheaped out on but the roof is definitely softer.

    >IT RUNS CLEAN ENOUGH FOR EUROPE
it doesn't actually, they had to bring it back as a commercial vehicle with no rear seats because the emissions are too bad for a passenger vehicle.

The reason isn't crash standards or emissions, it's market demand. They wouldn't sell many in the US, and where they do sell them they already have a couple year waiting list, so they don't need new markets anyway.

There's probably demand for the Jimny itself but not enough demand for it, nor for the other Suzuki models to justify a costly return to the US. It's a cheap and simple SUV that you can mod to shit while also being the perfect Barbie car for Stacy's suburban trips. Setting up the logistics and creating dealer networks is probably gonna cost more than whatever optimistic sales figures they can predict.

        Anonymous

Stacy drives an SUV because it's bigger and taller than everything else on the road, which makes her feel safer. The Jimny isn't gonna cut it for that niche.
