What's your music taste?
I went to school during the early 2000's and when I told my music teacher that I listened to rap he called it "garbage negro babble." He was a pretty cool guy but got fired for hooking up with one of the students. Also, this was in Europe before everything turned to shit.
if he's actually good at it he can show you how to play Nirvana and MBV songs. that shit is ridiculously easy to play if your advanced enough to play prog

Well actually all 90s music is making a comeback rn. Deftones, Nirvana, Alice in Chains and others got trending in Tiktok recently. I have a 14 yo sister who listens to Alice in Chains, Hole,Death, Acid bath, Electric wizard, Grindcore and Goregrind stuff, so it's not only grunge, but rock and metal in general who are making a comeback
Same here, I was in high school late 00s/early 10s and absolutely no one I knew liked Alice in Chains or Pearl Jam, etc., and if I was lucky I'd meet another Nirvana fan. Early on, people were mostly into nu metal, death metal for some reason, and rap, and then came the huge dubstep era a little later on.
Yep. Millennials had shit taste, listened to garbage, and disregarded the superior Gen X music. Now people don't give a shit about homosexual indie crap and are going back to the last time rock was REAL, which was the early 90s.
Grunge is a Gen X genre. Millennials wouldn't get it, they were children. The entire mood and ethos of grunge completely aligns with Gen X culture, their attitude towards life, and how they come across to other generations. Being in elementary or junior high when it was popular doesn't qualify someone to "understand" it. The life of a child or adolescent is completely different from those who were older during that time, that actually had to deal with life and society.
Zoomers might be getting into it, but they will never "get" it either.
I didn't read the whole thread but some guitar teachers are just dumbasses or straight up just scams. I heard a story of someone that didn't want to teach someone because he had the "wrong" type of guitar and he needed to buy a jazz guitar, this teacher conveniently could get the student one for a pretty good price kek
Other common scam is the ones that claims to teach "all styles" or "all levels", not even top players in the world can do this
I told my tuba teacher that the oompa loompa song was the peak of tuba music, and it will never be anything more than le funny fat man waddles soundtrack outside of oompa loompa-esque singalongs
My guitar teacher had shit taste. He wouldn’t shut up about Donovan and The Grateful Dead. Ended up ditching him and teaching myself.
>Donovan contrarian
BLEH! Nasty poser hippies are the worst. Next thing you know, he won't shut up about Jeff Beck and David Crosby
jeff beck was good though. david crosby was rock n roll santa
>jeff beck was good though. david crosby was rock n roll santa
did you remember to prep the bull today?
you got filtered kiddo
Guitar teachers are like dogs. Dogs choose their owner.
He made you quit so he didn’t have to deal with your shit drop d playing.
you are underage
no im just a loser
dropped, not because of the loser part

>What's your music taste?
normie grunge and incelcore
he actually used to be a musician
what are his tastes?
its all kraut and prog stuff
if he's actually good at it he can show you how to play Nirvana and MBV songs. that shit is ridiculously easy to play if your advanced enough to play prog
i mean the guy is like over 60 hes definitely a guitar god by now
i might but id probably embarrass myself by not knowing who they are i think ill ask him how to play some rio reiser songs i like that guy
tbh only reason i started listening to grunge again is because shooter doesnt fucking make music anymore
is he charging u like $3 per month? lol why would you pick someone that old
Well, probably cause the dude has a lot of experience and can teach shit
but u said you just want to learn how to play simple stuff
i mean my goal is to end up writing music myself
very cool, stick with it with your teacher then. writing your own songs is the best feeling in the world.
Based teacher. Ask him to teach you how to play like Allan Holdsworth and Manuel Göttsching.
i'd much rather pick prog and kraut over "incelcore" lmao
SHUT UP
He's right though. I have a friend who likes some e punk tbf but it gets old very fast when you're sitting around just listening to it.
Based Shroomer Boomer Music Teacher versus Incel Zoomer Animu Student

So where's the problem?
>this was in Europe
you are not european hahahhaa
Don't take his taste seriously. Notice thay he's just a guitar teacher and not a musician.
I guarantee you he plays live music regularly.
>tell guitar teacher about my music taste
>he mounds
Is grunge getting popular again? When I was in high school (mid-late 00s) no one else I knew listened to it.

I also wanna add Sublime, CKY and Streetlight Manifesto were staples for high schoolers in my area pre-dubstep

Liar
Older millennials grew up on grunge

Middle school kids arent rebellious and don't deal with depression and despair. Their ears also don't work until they are 18.
>tell guitar teacher about my music taste
>he rubs my shoulders and offers to suck my dick
10 year old me must have had good taste.
I don't think that was a guitar teacher dude lmao.
bro I think you shouldve reported that
God this thread is so circlejerky. Stupid rockists.
Ikr. People here think they just have the greatest taste in the whole world or something because they like loud music.
Right? Pathetic losers
Should make you proud, his music taste obviously just was enough to teach insecure brats the guitar.
