the noise is deafening but it's a good looking paperweight
The only hesitation I'd have about buying a used Vega at this point is that they were good at mining and HBM is fragile. Buildzoid has mentioned a couple of times that he wouldn't touch a Radeon VII with a barge pole these days because he's seen so many dead ones. Vega might be a little more durable due to the older process node I suppose.
You've never owned one. I had a reference Vega 64 for a while and it wasn't a loud card at all, especially once tweaked and undervolted.
>You've never owned one
but i did
>especially once tweaked and undervolted
so, a gimped card isn't as noisy? got it
What do you want to do with it?
It'll get primitive shaders! Any day now!
for gayming (windows): needed to disable freesync, otherwise monitor stutters after a game. Had lots of crashes with the march 2023 driver, went back to 21.6 something, works great so far.
Got it for 150 yurobucks with box and receipt used from a guy who used it in crossfire to play sekiro.
It's a bit noisy at maximum power but because I [email protected] fps, the card doesn't blow in most non post 2021 triple A games .
for ganoo lonox: tried gnome and KDE, both Wayland and X11. Except for KDE Wayland traditional bugs worked flawlessly in every config. No need to install a driver for recent (kernel < 4 years) distros, blender works like a charm and I don't feel the lack of cuda from my rtx 2070.
Also tried stable diffusion, couldn't generate images above 489*489, memory would saturate above. An image would take about 5-20 (can't remember but like that) seconds to generate with default settings from webui.
I'd say for the price I paid for I'm really happy about it. If it lasts two years before failure I'll be satisfied.
wtf.... this sounds like hell.
yikes, had memevidia gpu's all my life and never had any of these issues
What the fuck. Holy shit OP just get a 6600. No issues to speak of on my 6700XT. AMD will never top RDNA2.
you could've gotten a 5600 XT or 6600 XT for $150, dumbass.
i guess it's like $150 on ebay, not too bad for a budget card
>AMD
>GPU
buy a dildo instead
Was gonna get a flashed V56 then someone pointed me towards the RX 6600 but that's only x8 (and my CPU at the time had PCIe 2.0) so I started looking at used 5700XTs and ended up getting a 6700XT.
Vega was unironically really good, the price was the bad part.
>BS high power consumption by default
>No longer officially supported
>No support for contemporary features like RT
Just a get an RX 6600. Small, quiet, up-to-date. Or if you're lucky you can get an RX 6700 10GB for not too much more and, with any luck, coast trough the generation.
T. R5 5600 + RX 6700 user
VEGA is like the last flagship before crypto shit, HBM feel like a Datacenter GPU in your home.
I wish I bought used one at that time
their support is dead, get a RX6XXX instead, unless you can get that one for really cheap
GCN is fucking garbage
Get a budget rdna2 gpu like the 6600xt instead
Reference I probably wouldn't, but I'm pretty happy with my Nitro. Stay away from ex-miner cards though, they're likely to suffer HBM failure.
Buying AYYMDEAD HOUSEFIRES with no Feature Level 12_2, no AV1 hardware decoding and encoding, no DisplayPort 2.1 & HDMI 2.1, no AI technology
THE ABSOLUTE STATE OF AYYMDEADPOORFAGS
nvidia drivers dont work for me well and cant run my monitor at all so i cant get one
old and underpowered. get an rx6600 which is newer and a bit faster. unless the vega64 is significantly cheaper.
don't you think it's high time to learn to make your own decisions? you know, like grown ups do...
