Alright
Supra 3.0 and doing nothing but the down pipe and tune and leaving it like that
or
A base C8
I've driven both and Both are great the Supra in stock form feels lacking (which can be fixed with a tune and down pipe)
just a bit but i dont think that the C8's price is worth the extra money that most places are asking for.
Wildcards:
Used GT-R
Used 997
What would you pick? 80k budget
Why a base C8 if your budget is 80k? That should get you a 2lt Z51 which is both a way more capable and way nicer car than the supra. Only reason to go supra is if you want a manual.
I have yet to find any dealership letting even new base C8's go OTD for less than 85k. Thats why im looking at used cars right now and right now even used 1LT's are in the mid-70s and frankly thats way to much for a base C8 but i have it in my list as the most expensive option. The Supra, GT-R and 997 can all be had used for less than 80k.
Buy from Macmulkin. They sell at MSRP and the waitlist for C8s has never been shorter. You can even spec it outb ust how you like it.
C8. Having driven both you're out of your mind to think the supra is a contender or even as confident feeling in a high stakes race.
A tuned Supra beats the C8. And yeah i understand im talking tuned vs untuned, but the supra is much cheaper than the C8.
Im not tracking any of these cars. Just looking for a nice weekend toy and occasional street pulls.
Beats it at what? What are the "tuned" specs and how crazy of a tune does it need to compete? Also if I'm buying a brand new car I don't want to heavily modify it right after purchase I at least want to put 20k miles on it before I mess with it heavily and void my warranty.
he's right retard. DP + tune and the supra walks the C8 no problem with no reliability issues.
I'd take the tuned/modded c8. Stay malding ricer.
>NA
>tuned
>NA
>Modded
what are you even going to mod on these things to give them power besides making them not NA
Couldn't you hook up oxygen tanks to the aspirators?
Swap the beads and go for a tune, get rid of thar cylinder deactivation shit. And if I'm feeling spicy add a supercharger kit. There's plenty you can do for massive fucking gains.
i just did a solid 10 minutes of googling. C8 supercharger kits seem like they're about $20-25k for ~150hp gain, taking you from low 11s to mid 10s. they sound pretty sick but on a B58 you can spend half that and run 9s. but then of course you have to drive a butt ugly toyota.
not a bad idea since most corvette owners will probably have an o2 tank in the passenger seat anyway.
What if you get the Hennessy upgrades
no times on their site but in the video the gap it puts on the stock vette seems to be about a half second so it's probably about the same.
i just probably wouldn't mod these things. if you want a faster vette then just get the ZR-1 when it comes out. of course if you have unlimited money do whatever makes your dinky hard. but if you're on a budget, B58 + mods = cheap power.
you can get a 991.1 and maybe a 991.2 for 80k
If its going to be a daily or your only car go for the C8. Very liveable care in my experience. Just enough frunk and trunk space and a very comfortable ride. Fuck the z51 and go for a convertible if its your daily.
if i end up going the C8 route im going convertible. Same if i go with the Porsche.
personally i'd go with the coupe if i were limited by 80k
the convertible is cool, but at 8k more and all it offers you is aesthetics and more opportunities to break, it's hard to pick that over a coupe when the coupe has a removable top regardless.
Didn't realize that the coupe still had a removable top. interesting.
yeah, corvettes only come in removable, or automatic convertibles.
there's a few differences and the convertible is the 'better' convertible, since it has a bit better air flow and such, and its just way more convenient and personally i think it looks nicer. but even the coupe you can store the roof in the trunk, you just have to do it by hand, and the back window doesn't go down so there's a bit more buffeting.
For me the convertibe wasnt about aesthetics. Its about living my Outrun fantasies from when I was a little kid. Riding down the highway fast as fuck at sunrise, wind in my hair (hard to believe a corvette owner still has hair), blasting music, thinking about all my romances. It just feels amazing. Also people tend to be very talkative with you in traffic if you have the top down.
knew this looked familiar. I used to live in those apartments right behind the fire station / CVS. How do you enjoy that car here? So many entrance ramps and shit that is scrape inducing.
>How do you enjoy that car here? So many entrance ramps and shit that is scrape inducing.
I actually love it. I've had it about 4 months and scraped maybe 3 times, mostly when I was first getting used to it. The C8 isnt that low to be honest so if you take the entrance ramps slowly and at an angle, you wont scrape. I don't even scrape in chinatown. If anything Im grateful to be driving here instead of somewhere with snow.
based. I have a civi type r and it isn't low but it's lower than a stock civic by a fair amount and I have to watch myself with some of these fucking ramps. c8's are fucking cool to see though. I see boomers scrape like it's nothing and keep going.
Any cool roads you know around the area? Memorial drive just east of sam houston has tons of fun corners, looks great, and is well maintained. Its my usual lunchtime/midnight hooning spot.
Never thought I would say this, but the Nupra looks way better man, and there's less of them driving around, no boomer stigma just a lesser stigma from car people, guess you could weigh tjat against eachother but meh get a stick shift Supra, its cheaper and cooler.
It's just cheaper and slower. Significantly slower. It's still a cool car for the money but a c8 and nupra aren't in the same league.
If you're going for an automatic, just get the C8. Partly because we need to keep the mid engine layout alive, partly because it's better in most ways and partly because I don't want BMW to make any money.
i personally hate the poopra styling but if you don't mind it then that would be my choice. the vette barely has 400 ft lbs of torque at the wheels so that'll get boring pretty quick if you're actually getting on it and not just boomer cruising under the speed limit like 98% of C8s will be driven.
Manual Supra and mods would be my choice between that and the C8, especially if it's just a weekend car.
C8 is still going to be faster if you're just doing a downpipe and tune though.
>80k budget
used mustang and $40k worth of track days
16 base model crossfires
The supras look great with aftermarket bodykits
post 1 (one) example of a good looking mk5 zupra
ricer
I just like how they look. I dont even own a Supra. This is my C8
. I don't think you can get a more tasteful configuration.
3.3 0-60 on base Corvette vs 3.7 on Poopra. Not really a difference. Almost surprising since the corvette is supposed to be a supercar competitor. Guess Poopra is too?

>Not really a difference
Almost half a second is an appreciable difference. But anything under 4 seconds is more than 99% of drivers can handle anyway, so who cares at that point.
You can get sub-3 second times with launch control
manual supra is the best choice if you want something that will hold value and not give you a lot of trouble
the C8 is faster and more comfortable but the dual clutch trans has some reliability issues and regular C8s are far more numerous than Supras
Get the gtr
Will you grab a manual? Supra, maybe look into the 997 if you can find a good one, if you wanna grab the auto, get the Corvette, maybe look into an AMG if you can find a good example
you would have to add stickier tires to your mod list to put the power down. the stockers are barely enough untuned.
>McDonald's strutted rental spec shit box with a plastic engine
>fake vents
>fake engine noise maker
>fake diffuser
>torque converted automatic only
VS
>C8 Corvette
Kek if this is a remotely difficult choice for you then you stand no chance of making it.
Either just make sure it has a manual
Manual Supra is more engaging, if you want performance get a GTR, it is faster than the C8
