what do you mean? I mean the passages were he is complaining about various people in his diary. Off the top of my head there were a couple about senators, or that one about a blackish character.

being sincere about what bothers you of other people is not seething

seething is what you do when you are unable to do something about it

Marcus Aurelius is about the furthest away from being a person who would have seethed about anything. I've read his meditations and nothing came across as him "seething". Perhaps you are on about the negative visualisation he does at the start of the day to deal with all the ungrateful rude people he will encounter thats not the same as being actually upset.

          >A black-hearted character, a womanish character, a stubborn character, bestial, childish, animal, stupid, counterfeit, scurrilous, fraudulent, tyrannical
I don't know, sounds like seething to me.

I hope you wont give up on your studies of Stoicism, you seem a bit antagonistic for no reason but at least you are aware of some of the Stoic source material though its sadly somewhat obscure nowadays or discounted for being "toxic". Its a shame it would really help a lot of people deal with hardship.

            what

Apparently the only way to deal with your emotions according to some people is to talk about them openly with others even though that's not natural for a lot of people especially men. Stoic thought is lumped in with "toxic" masculinity as a bad way of dealing with things which is obviously utter bullshit and they misunderstand the philosophy.

That's pretending there's not a problem when there is, entirely seperate to taking a controlled rational stance towards a problem.

Sadly a distinction not everybody understands and they are lumped together

            >just choose not to be upset or feel pain bro
wow thank you aurelius, truly a galaxy brained take. I haven't been upset or in pain since.

being compared to Aurelius is a compliment in my eyes. At a certain point if you are going out of your way to misinterpret all I have to say anon just stop being a pussy bro and control your emotion responses its party of being masculine.

its been all around the world and served many great men who accomplished their goals in life instead of being someone who makes ironic posts on a history imageboard

i wish we didnt live in a society so people like you could filter themselves out of life instead of being carried through life with everyone elses taxes

            >uhh you are grievously pain? just don't be in pain bro

Wait, he anticipated scenarios he could be angry about so that when they happened he wasn't angry?

thats the essential aspect of it, he would start the day like that and remind himself of what he is thankful for as well. He wasn't some robot, it was a disciplined state of mind. Its about controlling his reactions and emotion not completely supressing it and pretending they dont exist.

Meditations wasn't exactly intended to be a great work of Stoic philosophy. It was just his personal diary for writing his thoughts. He'd probably be horrified one of the only surviving Stoic documents left is his diary.
