STRANGEST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE

Hi /x/ the strangest thing happened to me and I had to share it with you. First thing I want to say is that this is 100% real and not a larp and this is not sarcasm. I do not drink alcohol nor do I use drugs, so you can dis-count these as explanations immediately.
The window behind my kitchen sink looks out at the backyard and back deck, so every time you walk into the kitchen, you can see outside into the backyard. With winter coming, I have a stack of firewood about 3 feet high that I recently stacked on the back deck.
Anyway, sometime after 10pm last night I walked into the kitchen and noticed that there was something on top of the wood stack. I walked over to the kitchen window to get a closer look. It was a black poodle-type dog just sitting there licking itself like a cat. My neighbor has a black poodle dog just like this and it sometimes makes its way into my yard, so I didn't really think much of it, assuming it would just return back to my neighbor's yard. A little while later I returned to my kitchen and was somewhat puzzled by what I saw.
The black poodle dog was still sitting atop the wood stack, but this time there were four black dogs sitting in front of the wood stack, evenly spaced apart from one another in what I can only describe as a "sphinx" position. These four looked like labs or retrievers, but I'm not a dog person and am not super familiar with specific dog breeds. Honestly I didn't really know what to do, they didn't look particularly menacing, and were just sitting there as I said, but I was hesitant to just walk outside and disperse them.

Eventually the 4 lab-like dogs left and the poodle-like dog jumped off the wood stack and was just trotting around on my deck. At this point I walked outside to see if there was a collar on the dog. As I was inspecting the dog something else made its way onto my deck. It was a small white "dog" with the body of a small to medium sized goat, but it had a totally spherical, ball-shaped head, think of a white yarn ball with a face. It only had two eyes and a mouth, but they both looked completely flat to the head, as though they were drawn onto the head. As stupid as this might sound, "annoying orange" is the closest thing to what it looked like, just imagine it as white on a white goat body, but with less human-looking eyes. Somewhat mesmerized by the creature I squatted down and scratched its neck as you would a dog and the creature's mouth smiled. At this point a feeling of total prey energy came over me, like a primal, instinctual feeling that I was being hunted by an apex predator. I stood up and went back inside the house and nothing else happened for the rest of the night.

Sorry there is no spoopy ending, but as I said this is not a larp, and as far as I know, this actually happened.

There are a whole lot of strange things in the world, stranger than what you have experienced.

Up to you to decide what to do afterwards.

You can delve deeper or ignore it and move on. Keep it to yourself or share it.

Anything is possible and anything can be.

Cool story. Can't believe you decided to pet something so uncanny looking. We need a detailed description of the smile. Also, was the feeling you got a reaction to the strange smile or are you perceptive enough that you felt the intention of this creature and it was menacing? Also, what the fuck. The "dogs" were having a meeting in your back yard. Weird shit. Are you rural or burbs or what?

The feeling was, as I said, a feeling that I was something's prey. A mix between the feeling of being watched, and the feeling of being chased. I dont think that the feeling was necessarily activated by me touching the creature, it just became especially noticable then.

I wonder if you interacted with an alien or a paranormal entity.

that's really really weird OP, sometimes this happens when meeting animals we're unfamiliar with. assuming you dont have a fence? do you often pet random animals?
it's a really weird description of the goatdog thing though, not sure what to make of it. and you're saying it smiled?

Yes, like I said a totally ball-shaped head, that was almost proportionally too small for the body. When I scratched it, the mouth, which was like that of a human, smiled, and it gave me this super creepy feeling.

Unfortuneatly no, but it was in the middle of the night so my shitty phone camera wouldn't have been able to take very good photos anyway. And to be frank, taking a photo was the last thing on my mind at the time.

If this isn’t a LARP or a creative writing exercise (even in such a case, it’d still be a nice piece of creative writing compared to some stuff on this board, so props, OP), that’s indeed spooky. Have you ever looked into Forteana (the works of Charles Fort)? If not, I’d recommend it, as well Robert Anton Wilson’s “The New Inquisition”, also inspired by Charles Fort, where he dredged up a lot of strange paranormal reports from well-regarded newspapers over the decades, from people seeing cryptids as in this case, to UFO sightings, to rain of animals like fish and frogs over some cities, which scientists can’t definitively explain but have some hypotheses for (I know, it sounds ridiculous, but this actually somehow is a thing),

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_of_animals

    Spontaneous combustion, etc.

It’s also strangely similar to some shamanic accounts of meetings with such beings, who can take the guise of an animal, as in Carlos Castaneda’s works.

Also, finally, it just could have been an unfamiliar or deformed (but luckily not violent) animal you somehow had this strange encounter with, magnified by the darkness of the night doing strange things to our perception. Who knows? Happy reading and happy hunting, if you choose to follow up on these recommendations.

      > Spontaneous combustion, etc.
Spontaneous human combustion, that is, specifically.

We really live in a weird world.

    >be me, casual gamer and occasional stoner
    >find a game called "Smoke Break" on some indie game site
    >description says "Live the life of a stoner, nightly ritual smoke required"
    >reviews are all over the place, some say boring, others are just a string of weird symbols
    >download it because why not
    >gameplay is dead simple, you're this dude in a suburb
    >whole point is to walk out, smoke, and go back inside
    >literally just a smoking simulator with some walking
    >dude weed lmao
    >first few nights in the game, nothing happens
    >walk to the same spot, light up, chill, walk back
    >almost uninstall because it feels like a waste of time
    >I notice the sigils etched on the sidewalk and the fence
    >kind of intriguing
    >keep playing out of sheer curiosity
    >start seeing them during the daytime outside my apartment
    >probably just seeing things because I'm looking for them now
    >gameplay gets more interesting
    >notice subtle changes each night as I go for the smoke
    >one night the sigils glow faintly, another night they seem to point somewhere
    >start following them, leads to different paths, different experiences
    >things escalate quickly
    >shadows start moving, whispers float on the wind
    >feel a presence watching me from the darkness
    >in-game character starts to look paranoid, keeps glancing over his shoulder
    >can't tell if it's the game messing with me or if I'm getting too into it
    >gameplay turns into unraveling a mystery of the sigils and the suburb
    >every night reveals a new piece, a new event
    >started out boring, now I can't wait for the character's nightly smoke
    >game's got its hooks in me, need to know what's going on
    >tell myself it's just a game, but can't shake the feeling something's off
    >keep playing, each night in the game feels more intense
    >shadows seem to linger longer, even after the screen goes dark
    >whispers sound too close, too real
    >gotta find out what happens when I piece all the sigils together
    >it's just a game, right?

In Celtic mythology, you see accounts of "Black Dogs" (a.k.a. Trash Hounds or Gytrash). Strange black dogs that don't seem to do much other than appear and creep people out, although there are accounts of them being unlucky* or helping women & children.

*If you read/watched Harry Potter, Black Hounds are the inspiration for the Grim in Prisoner of Azkaban.

    FAUST
If I must share my chamber with thee,
    Poodle, stop that howling, prithee!
    Cease to bark and bellow!
    Such a noisy, disturbing fellow
But what do I see in the creature?
Is that in the course of nature?
Is't actual fact? or Fancy's shows?
How long and broad my poodle grows!
    He rises mightily:
A canine form that cannot be!
What a spectre I've harbored thus!
    He resembles a hippopotamus,
With fiery eyes, teeth terrible to see:
O, now am I sure of thee!

    MEPHISTOPHELES
(while the vapor is dissipating, steps forth from behind the
stove, in the costume of a Travelling Scholar.)
Why such a noise? What are my lord's commands?

    FAUST
This was the poodle's real core,
A travelling scholar, then? The casus is diverting.

    MEPHISTOPHELES
The learned gentleman I bow before:
You've made me roundly sweat, that's certain!
