What’s the point of challenging gender norms if women automatically associate it with homosexuality anyways? I feel for a straight guy to efficiently wear make up and not look like a gay it would have to look completely different than how women do it.

i’m fine with straight men doing makeup as long as it’s well-executed. seeing zoomer girls go wild over dudes with shitty cracked nail polish and awful eyeliner is just pathetic
I don’t think manly make up should just be women’s but on a man anyways. I don’t believe they respect that.

this is true, but a lot of the dudes with cracked nail polish apparently do it deliberately, which just seems cringe. i think makeup can read as masculine and un-gay on men without being purposefully rugged. saying this as a biological woman with a lifelong crush on David Sylvian
it’s deliberate nowadays like shredded jeans but at the end of the day it’s hard to make it not look like total shit without tons of practice, and when you make an earnest effort people will just think you’re a bigger gay for putting in so much effort (or money)

currently I just wear a covid mask a beanie and dimmed glasses when I go out. my friends all recognize me in the getup, but I am a stranger to all else. pretty much the best aspect of covid was the sudden acceptance of wearing an identity concealing mask in public.

I wear eyeliner and loads of girls dig it. But I have a pretty masculine face and also dye my hair black to give a clear message it’s emo/goth and not gay. I feel like feminine/androgynous faces and bodies just scream gay.
