I am a 5'7 white guy from latam. Watch a shit load of MMA, like too much. up to 10 hours on weekends and instructionals before bed. Have an undergrad and masters degree. I do workout (resistance/strenght training) but don't train martial arts. So I'm not fat, somewhat muscular and generally athletic. I'd say I'm good looking and never had much issue with women, but never dated exceptionally attractive women. A hottie here and there maybe.

gf is 5'3 typical american white girl. Buff, does MMA, KB and BJJ. We've grappled I'm stronger and have tapped her out despite the fact that she has more experience, but her submissions are better than mine, she's more proficient at closing them. She's pretty hot, at least for me. Cute face and very muscular body, thicc legs and ass, a bit of a wide back, but still feminine. Nice hair and what not.

tfw no martial art gf who would triangle choke me with her juicy thighs

I have been choked in her juicy legs while naked, fricking amazing. Highly recommend it.

I met her outside of a gym but if you want a MMA gf yout best bet is to go to one. Specially in the US there are always nice strong girls and gyms tend to be friendly enough that if you're not a creep you'll find someone.

There was no invitation to conversation within that post. It can be surmised as "I think that's neat and I don't mean sexually". That's not to disparage him, I thought it was a nice comment, I just didn't think it was necessary to talk more about myself or my experience with the subject. I'm sorry if I upset you.

Oh, I didn't know I had to do that. I haven't really seen that happen irl, or maybe I just never really noticed it.
            >I just didn't think it was necessary to talk more about myself or my experience with the subject.
Yeah I'd like to know more about that but I guess I just don't know how to ask it without sounding like I'm conducting an interview.
            >I'm sorry if I upset you.

No it's fine, I just avoid talking about myself unnecessarily. The only reason I really got started in kickboxing was because my father coaches it and it just seemed reasonable that I would start training too even if there was less for me to get out of it. Though nowadays I do less serious training myself and help my father coach the kids/youth classes too. You do not practice yourself?

            >No it's fine, I just avoid talking about myself unnecessarily.
Understandable here, although I also notice I tend to have to walk a fine line between talking here or suggesting to go somewhere else, as the latter seems to drive people away too.
            >The only reason I really got started in kickboxing was because my father coaches it and it just seemed reasonable that I would start training too even if there was less for me to get out of it.
Ahhhh, what was your father like teaching you compared to teaching his students? Was he particularly harsh or lax? My father teaches too, but he teaches academic stuff.
            >Though nowadays I do less serious training myself and help my father coach the kids/youth classes too
Hope it's good father-daughter bonding time
            >You do not practice yourself?
I did jeet kune do for a while, but I quit because I became busy with studying and now I decided I want to focus more on another sport. I just thought for that sport, I have to get into it now or I'll be too old for it, especially when I want to see just how far I can progress. So far I'm doing pretty well, but I hope I can make it semi-pro. I spend 3 days on that sport, and another day on running, which is quite a bit considering back then I had a weekend internship going on too, and of course you'd have a lot of stuff to deal with on weekdays. How about you? How much do you enjoy kickboxing?

Harsh for the most part. Though he made some concessions on account of the fact it was an all male class me excluded. In terms of technical things he was very strict with me. Your father taught you too?
What sport is it that you do? I have only heard of jeet kune do in respect to Bruce Lee, I have wondered how widely it is practised. I tried out aikido with a local practitioner for a summertime but found other martial arts strange in their small differences, which is odd, I would have expected some compatibility due to the similarity.
For me it is something that registers as just another part of life like doing laundry or watching television I have been doing it so long. So it's hard to gauge how much I enjoy it I guess. Though when I have to take time of I find myself starting to miss it so I suppose that speaks to some fondness.

            >Harsh for the most part. Though he made some concessions on account of the fact it was an all male class me excluded. In terms of technical things he was very strict with me.
Sounds like my dad when he teaches family lol. He can still be very harsh to his students but in general he seems softer, at least at first. That said, I have seen him scold students to the point they cry (girls).
            >Your father taught you too? What sport is it that you do?
My father would teach me maths and programming back then, because that's his expertise. I play football (soccer).
            >I have only heard of jeet kune do in respect to Bruce Lee, I have wondered how widely it is practised. Yeah unarmed martial art is pretty diverse, as opposed to say swordfighting, where the basic strikes between the European and Japanese systems are largely identical. I don't think it's that popular overall, because it's a niche martial art that can get overshadowed by MMA for being more developed these days and more traditional martial arts for artistic purposes. It's kind of in between, and there's also not that much proper sparring because many of the things we're taught would be illegal in competitive sparring. That said, I chose it because I thought it would suit me better due to its influence from wing chun which focuses a lot on hand to hand technique.
            >Though when I have to take time of I find myself starting to miss it so I suppose that speaks to some fondness.
That's good to hear. I'm curious if you study or work apart from coaching? Just curious what the life of a coach is like. How much do they train on their own, how long do they take to prepare lessons, etc. But yeah I'm happy that you enjoy it.

For me it's always been amusing to see how different he is with the kids sessions vs adults. He goes from being super soft and supportive to almost demonic in his expectations. It also made me realise he started treating me like an adult a lot sooner than most.
            >That said, I chose it because I thought it would suit me better due to its influence from wing chun which focuses a lot on hand to hand technique.
Of course. One day I'd like to branch out and become proficient in other martial arts. My father practised many when he was growing up but settled on kickboxing, though he does sessions on other things like self-defence, ground training etc. Do you think you would ever go back to jeet kune do? Or do you think you would try something new? Or never to either?
            >I'm curious if you study or work apart from coaching?
I have other interests too of course but no my main focus is on coaching. My father wants me to take the reigns when he gets old enough to retire. Already I coach by myself but I worry if I would be able to train adult men properly, for that it would make more sense to bring in another coach more compatible in weight and strength etc.

            >It also made me realise he started treating me like an adult a lot sooner than most.
Did you think it was a good move on his part? Mine was a bit contradictory. Seemed like he wanted to treat me like an adult but then kept treating me like a kid by withholding information from me, or stopping me from doing stuff (before I was 18).
            >One day I'd like to branch out and become proficient in other martial arts
Ohhhh what have you looked into already?
            >Do you think you would ever go back to jeet kune do? Or do you think you would try something new? Or never to either?
I'd love to when I have time. It's just that for now, football is my dream, and I don't have much time considering I'm almost in my mid-20s. I'd also love to go back to HEMA. I want to learn both armed and unarmed combat. It just feels like many Asian martial art schools are too rigid, so I'd rather learn the European way, especially when they are fundamentally the same like swordsmanship.
            >I have other interests too of course but no my main focus is on coaching. My father wants me to take the reigns when he gets old enough to retire. Ahhh wow, an actual professional. How many years have you been doing this by now? But yeah coaches tend to have some sort of assistant, either one you hire or one that is like the model student I guess. Are there no female students in your area?

            >Did you think it was a good move on his part?
Nowadays I'd say so but back then I was always pretty resentful. Seeing how he treated other students my age versus how he treated me led me to jump to conclusions. You can see how that sort of thing might be misconstrued by a child but as an adult you see that more than anything it's a compliment or a vote of confidence in one's abilities.
            >Ohhhh what have you looked into already?
Nothing seriously yet but I'm leaning towards Jiu-jitsu. It is already popular locally so finding a practitioner should be simple.
            >I'd also love to go back to HEMA
I have heard so much about it in recent years it really seems to have taken off. It seems in many places globally there is a sort of cultural renaissance where old or perhaps neglected aspects of said cultures are being brought back into the collective consciousness.
            >How many years have you been doing this by now?
I started training regularly when I was 6 and I'm nearly 23 now. It's funny I've never been called a professional before.
            >. Are there no female students in your area?
Once we used to hold women's classes too, but that was a long time ago. Unfortunately there just isn't or at least wasn't enough interest locally for that sort of thing to make sense. Technically the classes we hold now are open to both men and women and in the kids classes there are quite a few girls, but it seems past a certain age (and perhaps due to the mixed classes) we don't really get any adult women training with us. Of course I would be happy to see that change but I do understand their reservations.
