stayed in europe for a year and i noticed they didnt have modern washer and driers like we have. they looked straight out of the 80s. mechanical popout buttons and no digit screen with the time left. and they already dont have AC like we do in america. 99.99% of the cars looked like they were from the 90s and 2000s, even the bmws and mercedes. are europeans just too poor for modern appliances and cars?

Agreed. My dad has two old washers in two vacation homes and they don’t have shit on the modern versions. Old versions don’t even test the load to determine spin-speed or needed water volume.

The funny thing is I have old and new stuff. Some of the old stuff is great, like fridges, guns, air conditioners and hand tools . Some is total dog shit, like TVs, cars and water heaters.

shut up nagger. These things are designed to fail. The spider that holds the drum is made of aluminum, the drum is stainless steel, result, spider fails after anodic corrosion. I purposely looked for old tumble dryer, they are build like tanks and are easy to fix

the heating elements in them are built before planned obsolesce

the one I have is older than me and I am in my 30s, I had to write down how many minutes to leave an amount of clothes in it as it can roast them

If the element ever breaks I could probably get a heating coil made or make one myself instead of sourcing a £80 wire and some guy to take the thousand parts away to get to it

also its all analogue so don't have to worry about the shitty pcb failing

Cleaned every part put some grease on moving parts. Works flawlessly. The ironic part is it wasn't even a high tier machine in the 90s. It is getting closer to 30 years old and it's a gamble everytime I open it, the plastic inside is starting to feel brittle, so there's that.

I agree that Europe is a shithole, but picrel is what a current year washer looks like if you don't live in a poorfag country. The common European tends to use things until they break. The older the appliance, the higher quality it tends to be.
But no worries, European countries are also adoping consumerism and buy "new and shiny" even if the overall quality is worse, the product can't be properly maintained, and the right to repair is shit on.
In IT, European countries even adopted the "It's a software/AI issue, so we can't do anything about that"-lingo of Americans.

        Anonymous

No, your take is a consumerist fallacy which can be true in some cases, but not universally so. You also have to factor in ease/possibility of repair and maintenance, failure rate, probability of an incident occurring, etc.
Look in the IT or audio industry for example. The quality of new software and IT infrastructure fucking sucks when compared to back then evenn though there are more standards and compliance guidelines now. Older analogue Audio equipment is also so much more superior and reliable when compared to digital Audio equipment. Your take is precisely why people buy into shady trends like Zero Risk Security, moving IT infrastructure to the cloud, RayCons and other lower quality "Made in China" ware.

the older parts wont be available forever much like how spare parts for a phonograph are nearly impossible to find. newer stuff has plenty of spare parts and they are built better because of the decades of past experience

            Anonymous

Yes, but the same will be eventually true for newer ware if said ware is even designed to be repaired. A lot of things are especially designed so you can't repair them. Spare parts for old things are still available (even if scarce) after such a long time because there still is a demand for it. In some cases, companies just reduce the production of spare parts because stuff the consumer can easily fix himself is undesirable from the business perspective of modern companies.
And again, I'm not saying that all newer ware is universally inferior to older ware. I'm saying that your claim, which implies that newer ware is universally better quality, is not universally true if you apply all facets of "quality" that might be desirable from solely the consumer perspective.
In that sense, I think unamericanized Europeans and Americans couldn't be more different.
On a side note that might be unrelated to the rest of this post, several state governments in the USA and the EU both apparently find a "right to repair" desirable, so maybe American and European consumers might not have such a different mindset after all when it comes to the quality of older vs newer products.

I also have a fancy "wireless" tumble dryer. It sucks balls. A tumble dryer just needs a mechanical timer and a heat setting. That's it. Nothing else. Less shit to go wrong and no needless bollocks that is superfluous to making clothes dry.
I remember my mum talking about when automatic clothes washing machines became big in the 80's. She fucking hated them and used to bang on about how utterly shit they were, and that twin tubs, though bigger, were way better at actually getting your clothes clean.

By the way, touch screen appliances are cancer. Mechanical buttons are superior.

This anon gets it. This chad right here understands the importance of designing things with cleaning in mind. I clean mansions for a living and I am constantly dealing with these fucking NPC tier garbage pieces of 'tech'. I posted earlier lad, I saw a dishwasher in someone's house that was connected to the internet. I see idiots with toilets that plug into the wall. Microwaves and ovens that start cooking if you so much as look at the buttons.
The same trannies that buy into this touchscreen cancer tech also somehow found a way to complicate light switches.
I don't think globohomo light switches have made it to the UK yet (I'm from there myself) but some real good goys here have them, and I don't even know how I can describe them. They're that retarded. It's like a clicky button that you have to press about 5 times to get the lights to come on.
I will continue to spew my anti globohomo diatribe to anyone who is willing to listen. I'm just so happy to see someone else who hates the touchscreen shit. I hate it so fucking much.

Yes! Refreshing to hear. When I bought a new fridge there were so many with wifi connections I had to specifically find one without. I refer back to the old saying: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. These companies are just preying on søy cretins that will buy anything so long as it's marketed aggressively.

Fuck mate this is a genuine fear of mine. My wife and I are saving for a house and we've discussed how it's going to be basically impossible to get non globohomo appliences. I vowed that I'd actually make my own appliances before I have a fridge that's connected to Twitter. And I mean it too. I think people will start designing these things and sharing the blueprints to print them yourself. If someone could make a washing machine in the 1900s (without PCBs and 3D printers), then surely a modern day computer savvy chud could do the same.
Do we have those retard light switches in the UK yet lad? It is actually astonishing that someone even conceived a way to complicate a light switch. My mind begins to unravel just from thinking about It.
Hope you're safe from all that shit lad, sounds like you put the time in to avoid it. It'll only get harder and harder.

Dude just don't put them on your wifi. I have a security camera on my front door. WIFI is turned off. It records on a local SD card. You have to be some kind of retard to not figure out you don't need a subscription to everything because they told you so.

That's not the point anon. I know for instance you can host your own ring doorbell so it doesn't send anything away. The point is the lack of choice.
I do not want a fridge with a screen on it. I simply refuse. It's not that I think I'll be 'forced' to use these things, because I won't be forced to do anything. It just now requires extra diligence and work just to have functional appliances in your home.
The point is this. What was wrong with a light switch the way it was? Why do washing machines even possess the ability to connect to a network? Why on earth is any of this necessary?
I don't want anything with a touch screen.
I don't want anything connecting to the internet.
I don't want anything that plays a retarded chime.
I want a machine that washes my clothes and that I can clean easily. I will have things the way I want them but it might even require me making and building my own stuff, that is how much I refuse to buy globohomo shit.
It's my right as a consumer to decide what I want and it's not for sale.

You can still buy all that analog stuff. You are misrepresenting it like digital is your only choice. Buy an old house with analog stuff. You are giving up before you even tried.

They're trying to force you to get smart energy meters as well.

Not here though. In America you guys are on some weird fucking acid trip if the majority of your population has been fucking psychologically conditioned into cheering non-whites getting all the fruits of whitey while not doing any worthwhile work.

you're really gonna pretend like sweden doesn't put minorities on a pedestal when you literally revamped rape statistics to avoid stigma against them? when they're running around with grenades in impunity?

Our politicians did, not our people. Even today the microaggressions are are more than apparent in Swedish society towards brownskins. Every single Swede knows that any polite or nice interaction between brownies are just forced, akward at best with room for passive microaggressions. Brownies are trying to seek validation from the higher up Swede while the Swede gently wants to indirectly end the conversation calmly. Only a judaized Stockholmer would be passive enough to see everything as a strive towards multicultural utopianism. In America it's more harmonic yet forced in a completely different and unrelated way that is just as random like schizos when they have to conspiracymaxx to Alex Jones flat earth level arguments.

I used to have an old Whirlpool washing machine from 1994. My fucking god, that mf was strong. Literally just repaired like once in 13 years and it was a minor reparation as well. Those heavy duty 1980s and 1990s Whirlpool and Electrolux washing machines were absolute unit compared to the shitty slop-machines manufactured today.

I work at a thrift store.

Pro-tip hit up these places and try to look for white goods (fridges, washing machines, microwaves etc) from the 80s.

They're basically bullet proof. All modern shit is designed to die within 5 or 10 years so you have to buy a new one all the time

The other dials are cool. Load size is straightforward. Water temperature is fine too. But this one has a hand wash option, which is clearly a lie. And then goes on to suggest that we take a casual attitude towards getting the laundry clean
