sorcerer or priest?

I am slowly starting to accept that I have an unquenchable thirst for spiritual knowledge from all areas. This is genuinely something I want to devote my life too but I am also accepting it genuinely takes a lifetime to really claim mastery and not to mention one really negates the other (religions tend to view magic as heresy/not to be messed with)

Which pathway are you inclined towards and why? If you had to recommend 3 books as a primer/taste for both/your selected path - what would they be?

This isn't D&D, moron. All you have to do is have unshakeable faith and practice an ascetic lifestyle and everything you want to know will be shown to you.

Unshakeable faith in what moron? This takes so many forms when following any particular tradition. If I went with religion - it would be God or Jesus , if I went with Magic it would be some sort of natural omnipresent force or some pantheistic universal thing.

I'm feeling the same way at the moment. But is there a difference between a sorcerer and a priest?

I'd want to walk the middle path. If there really is such a thing. To know both sides of the self.

I think there is because I don't know how people can reconcile dabbling in occult or astrology or hinduism style training with an entirely seperate tradition that says all those things are off limits.

That being said , exorcisms and the like are a thing so clearly there is some overlap. But then I'm reconciling about the wider world of magical entities and honestly it feels like such a shame to willingly close yourself off like that.

But I feel your pain man(or woman)

You can be a priest of something where it isn't off limits. Most occultists have devotional shrines and the Christian ones just don't bother to reconcile it. Theurgy is theurgy man. I'm some kind of buddhist and most of it is not off limits.

i'd say sorcerer if knowledge is what you want
priests are quite limited by what their church considers acceptable

The whole left hand path vs right hand path dynamic.

Do you want to know God, and put God in the center, or do you want to put yourself in the center and strive for power?

    "Is the dark side stronger?"
"No, quicker, more seductive, the dark side is"

Putting your faith in God is the light side.
Putting your faith in yourself is the dark side.

I've always been drawn to the priestly path, however organized religion leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so I've been doing a lot of thinking and prayer about how to go about this. I'm not a catholic or a protestant, nor orthodox, I'm just a Christian plain and simple.

I'm a baptized Christian. I've also had several experiences which make me realize just how vast the spiritual world is.
Once I heard the words "Though you will bear no sons, many shall say of 'abba'." During my pot smoking days I used to receive occasional visits from an angel who called herself Mariel. Sometimes she would sing to me, other times she would advise me to do this or that. It's been a while since she's visited me. I've seen prayer do strange things, I've had the Holy Spirit drive me to do certain uncharacteristic things I wouldn't naturally do, and on one case years ago I scared something demonic out of my cousin's house just by saying "in the name of the Father, stop that!". I had a dreamt about eating and talking with Abraham in a tent during the afternoon.

I've looked into other kinds of spirituality, but Jesus just pulls me back and it's feels right that he does, like a teacher pulling you away from bad influences.

That's my story. As for 3 books, besides the Bible, I'd recommend the book of Enoch, the Hermetica, and the works of Justin Martyr, which I'm reading through currently.
    Best of luck.

Priest. The path of a Sorcerer always turns out pathetic (see Crowley and co or instead just go to /omg/). If you choose the path of the priest I recommend "On the City of God Against the Pagans" by St. Augustine of Hippo. Protrepticus by Clement of Alexandria in which he deconstructs the Hellenic religions and praises Plato for recognizing the One, even before Christianity. Also the selected writings of the monk Meister Eckhart.

      >Which pathway are you inclined towards and why?
Priestly path because I noticed how weak and pathetic "Sorcerer" are.
      They say shit like:
      >"Success is thy proof: argue not; convert not; talk not over much! Them that seek to entrap thee, to overthrow thee, them attack without pity or quarter; & destroy them utterly."
And next moment the Gestapo kicks your door in and ships you to the nearest concentration camp for hard labour. That's how it went for the Fraterni Saturni.
Despite never being able to comprehend or know God, because truly. No generation of people will know him. I always had the feeling he was there and watching me. Especially since I had quite a few near death experiences where I miraculously survived. One time even thanks to levitation which I believe was my Guardian Angel send by God. that catched me in the right moment. So in the end the Sorcerer holds no power over anyone and even in his wasted lifetime he will eat the dust of his own iniquity for daring to betray his own Creator. But through God everything will be possible aslong as it is righteous. Besides that I also have a talent for talking infront of a lot of people and I am seriously considering to become a priest.

Thank you both for a detailed reply. It seems like some level of christian mysticism might be the best way regarding the priest path in the age of modern religion.

No problem, friend. I suggest you also look into sacramental theology, Theosis and catechism. I also recommend joining either the Catholic Church or Orthodox Church, the two succesors of Chalcedonian Christianity which is the one holy catholic and apostolic Church and also because most Protestant churches are bible literalists and reject any notion of mysticism.
The goal of Christian Mysticism is to form a closer union with the Most High and ones life to be one of prayer, meditation and contemplation.

it's subjugation to lies considering they don't recognise Mary as source resonance(s)
no Christian EVER existed that didn't recognise Christ comes from the mother.

I have no idea what that means.
            >no Christian EVER existed that didn't recognise Christ comes from the mother.
Yes, we recognize that Christ was incarnate by the Holy Ghost and of the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

            Christ comes from the mother
that is arguably why Mary was chosen as a PROJECTIVE FORM (by God) to house Christ as it's a REQUIREMENT of 2 minimum
NEVER can you have a single piece of shit claim it's HIS OWN
it HAS to come from '2' minimum; the projective MATERIAL of THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE is a mother and child : and the bond of ALL space is Christ : making Christ body a universal body but required a MOTHER source to parallel...
            that is Christ.
if anyone tells you a single clown gets a universal aspect with no relevance to a DUALITY requirement : as it's the BOND between two : then they are promoting an ANTICHRIST who sought to steal the aspects association from the world, the mother and the universe
            ultimately
I AM CHRIST by accepting whenever I choose and can parallel MY BODY (Christ) from the universe
for ~the single body with duality within~ is a PARALLEL of THE UNIVERSE and SHOWS the projective material is allegoric MOTHER and CHILD.

      this... unironically
      spirits are elements in motion
as we 'the Earth' are in motion
they can be harnessed through flames and smoke

Christ is a universal body because the projective material of the universe is a mother and child and : ~unconditional love~ (Christ) is the bond between 'all space' (universal body)
no Christian exists that doesn't recognise the mother source (Mary) as offering Christ (her gift)
so... that should show you a lot of larping people in the world with no real clue as to what Christ is or that it is 'their' body to parallel from the universe
