Slurp Thread (GRT)

Since the protocol doesn’t allow this to fall under 10 cents. It’s the best time to slurp.

          GRT needs to dump all the time to bring $$ to protocol. If it stay flat or going up the dapps could just pay for the service with delegation fees.
          When it dumps dapps need to provide more and more $$ to operate.
          Sorry fuckers but there is only one direction and 10c 1c or 0.1c is not the bottom

              Exactly why. The lower GRT falls the more gets sucked into query fees. Below 10C is where 300M get sucked up. It literally can’t stay below 10 cents

                Query fees are paid in GRT which are bought using a flat USD rate per query ran. This equates to the burn increasing dramatically and the amount of GRT removed from liquidity 10 fold

              • 2 weeks ago
                Anonymous

                Why would .1 usd act as a threshold for 300M being burned? And these 300M would be strictly from increased query load and subsequent burn? Where are you gettin this number?

                There were 20M GRT burned till date. Far from a supply shock when inflation is set to 3% per year.

                Most of that burn is from whale delegation. Query fee burn is going to be insignificant and won't offset inflation until indexing rewards are killed off almost completely.

                At current prices and query volume, the forecasted burn for query fees is something like 40-50M per year when the hosted service ends.

            Query fee pricing is denominated in DAI and paid in GRT. GRT price does not affect the cost of queries.

            Customers would need to delegate over 4B GRT to pay for query fees at the current price. Seeing as the liquid supply is only 4B after the unlock and most liquid GRT isn't being sold, holy shit you better pray that customers collectively attempt it.

            • 2 weeks ago

              Explain why customers would need to delegate? That’s not my understanding of query payments

                They don't need to and likely won't. There's old long-refuted fud that customers will just delegate for free fees killing all buying pressure and sending GRT to zero.

                Locked tokens for 2 months and killing all buying pressure makes no sense mate.

                You’re also not taking into account burn & inflation rate is voted on by governance. The team already has stated they expect the inflation rate to be lowered when the hosted service ends

                let me play along:
                15000000000×365×$0.0001 == $0.5B

                for the stacked let's assume that 5B GRT is stacked that gives you $0.1 yearly per GRT stacked. assuming healthy 10% APR.. that should hike the price to $1.. ok not bad

                But that operates on assumption that 15b queries are happening on the paid mainnet.. today we see 1b daily on hosted, it's hard for me to believe that it will migrate 1:1 to paid service and then within 6months does x15

        The DJ selection was kinda lame but it was fun tbqh and I liked the retrofuturist art-deco aesthetic. Had some great conversations with professionals from different walks of life over drinks, and free food all night brought straight to the dance floor. It was cool that in a way, most everyone there was on the come-up with their careers despite the bear market.

        Celsius threw a wilder party the next night though.

    Hey guys, insider here. You'll be hearing about this probably early next week, but Celsius/3AC/Terra is not the end of the crypto implosion.

    Edge & Node and the Foundation became insolvent today. Just horrendous mismanagement of funds. You can see how amateurish all of these people are from the fucking party pics. While it WAS a good party, not a single fucking person at this place has any clue how to handle money.

    Do you have any idea how much time and money was wasted on Geo? And that new web3 club space they bought in SF? It's ridiculous. Nobody on the team would admit it but they were leveraged up on LUNA and gave a lot of their treasury to 3AC to manage it. Just every bad decision one after the other. The Graph Day charade and the party was the last hurrah.

    I'll be looking for another job now. Fucking sucks. This coin had so much potential but random spergs and absent minded philosophy majors shouldn't be running a billion dollar protocol.

        Ok, I unironically agree that buying GRT now is like buying LINK back in June 2018, which was when it was also near ICO levels. However, you have to have diamond hands since if you look it took LINK another 2 years to even start to moon and since crypto is going in longer cycles we can expect GRT to only start to moon 4 years from now.

        So, yes, this is a perfect buying opportunity for making it after 2026.

        That said, I did load up on another 20K GRT bringing me up to 100K so I'll make it even more after I (re-)make it with LINK.
