Should I go to the gym?

>low self esteem
>low confidence
>don't really have a problem with my body, thin and petite
>always thought the gym was for men and athletic girls
> really wants to go outside and meet new people, but don't know how
I know I will stand out because I'm a skinny, nerdy looking girl, but I heard exercising is good for self esteem and mental health, which I struggle with. I really want to try this out. I think this could be a good opportunity to make friends ( possibly a bf too?). Should I do it even though it's not for my body, but mind? I'm a bit nervous doing it alone.
Also, which specific exercise should I do? I like my body as is, I don't want to change it too much. Sorry if this is the wrong board ( ´_ゝ`) thx for reading

You should also ask on /fit
    Yes, go to the gym.
Some excersises require someone to “spot” you.be careful

      I see! Thx! Hopefully I get the courage to ask someone to "spot" me. Until then I'll do another exercise ^^;

Most people will be annoyed if you try striking up a conversation in the gym, even males.

Also, don't be afraid of going to a gym. Ever. Everybody is at the gym to improve their fitness and their physique. If people can't accept that at one gym, go to another. The public recreation center in your community will be filled with old, hairy, middle aged fat dudes who will mind their own business.

My biggest worry is annoying ppl ;_; what if I need help or have a question? I should just Google it... but then I won't make any friends. I think it's best to wait for someone to help right? Instead of being annoying. Also thx I'll remember that second part! Everyone is there to improve ^^

Chances are, someone will help you. I first tried a deadlift a few weeks ago and I watched a lot of videos on and shit and thought I had it down (it’s actually much harder than it looks) but then a guy came over and helped me since obviously bad form would be a problem once I hit like 150+ lbs or whatever.

Exercise is the #1 thing you can do for a sharper mind.
Just start with elliptical, or bike, or run.
If you feel adventurous then try lifting, you will need a trainer or some books to know what you're doing. For a beginner it's a little more dangerous in terms of injuries.

Thx! Also I love bikes, that's a good idea! But, will any of these exercises make me too muscular? Lol

Definitely not. People who look muscular have been training for YEARS at high intensity.
You don't need to worry about looking too muscular, you will just slowly become more and more beautiful as your health improves.

Yes because you'll never be a cute kawaii girl sitting on her chair with her feet up looking at weird videos on your silly little computer

That's not a woman. And I'm NOT saying this as a meme or shitpost.
Look at the feet - too big/ugly for a woman.

    Yes
Listen up boy, you'll get a bunch of Terrible fitness advice online but I'm here to save you tons of money and time.
You will workout full body once a week. Yes, that's enough. Your body needs rest time to repair broken tissue and build new one.
Only do one set of reps. 3-5 reps with a weight that won't let you do a 6th full rep. That 6th rep is the most important, it's called muscular failure. It's basically you putting all you got to try to complete the rep for 30 to 60 seconds at full intensity. This is the stimulation that will tell your body to build more muscle fibers.
    That's all. You'll get muscle

Also cut all carbs. Don't listen to roidtranies. Don't eat bread or oats. Ear animal protein, you'll be fine

Aww ~_~ but i love bread. I know I need a better diet, but that's for another discussion!
