Poor people are often poor because they spend more money than they should. They conflate personal belongings with wealth.

            Anonymous

            >They conflate personal belongings with wealth.
I don't think I yet understand the full scope of what you meant there.
            ---------------
There is wealth of resources, which can include things like:
Knowledge, connections, power, businesses, patents, people who work for you, having some form of savings etc.
Your first sentence really brings the light onto resourcefulness and virtue of living below your means.
You could consider that knowing how to cook well is a skill of nourishing yourself(and nourishing yourself well is important) above your means by spending below your means.
            ---------------
But with this latter sentence you want to bring attention to something closer to:
Bill Gates owning a lot of farmland, Black-rock owning a lot of houses in US.
Which brings it to the core the concept of trying to "flex on the poor".
And you see this in plenty of rap videos, it's this fake projection of wealth while the rapper is actually deep in-debt to the recording studio.
Just like some artists aren't rich, because they own/rent a lambo(especially with money that they got lent to by a recording studio).
People aren't wealthy because they bought a 1600$ gpu, while struggling to make ends meet.
(And a gpu is basically extremely negligible value compared to something like a farm with equipment and a plot of land to cultivate)
(Or even value of owning a house and paying property taxes instead of rent)
            ---------------
Having in mind resourcefulness(how much money could you spend on this, what you need, and ideally you spend none), inherently low deprecating value.
I guess you really summed it up well in just 2 sentences.
It really just goes down to living below your means, and gradually building up resources which you can use to build up actual wealth, rather than spend on mere consumables.

You’d be able to get a 7900X and a 7900XT for less than a single 4090 if the price for the 7900XT is in that range lol

        Anonymous

Not with the memory prices and capacity. They are matching the 4090 on that.
Expect $1200 minimum. If not more.
The big loss will be the 7800XT being $650. There's no fricking way the new AMD will be based and release their 4080 competitor for more than 10% less than the 4080 12GB, even if it performs less. They'll gouge for a $850 price point for sure, even if the specs are correct and it's a 12GB model this gen.

If RDNA3 isn't able to on par with 4080 12GIB at RTX in RT. It will not persuade anybody who is set on RT being next big thing.
Rasterization performance is kinda important but it will end-up being just like 16-bit color mode was for 3Dfx in its heyday.

            >anybody who is set on RT being next big thing
The games already run like shit without RT. You need to be a masochist to enable it, tank the framerate and then "fix it" by adding even more smear than TAA already does with DLSS 3.0 Nugamers were a mistake, they'll jerk off that their $1500 GPU does 4K 60 FPS on ultra while ignoring the fact that the game has vaseline smeared all over it because of TAA or other bullshit that completely destroys image clarity. Go disable TAA in a game that allows it and look at how dogshit the hair looks, literally a shimmering mess. Then compare it to the hair in pic rel. Looks amazing and no TAA needed. Devs are just lazy and publishers moronic with unrealistic expectations.

      Bad take.
7900XT will be faster if you ignore frame interpolation gimmicks full of artifacts and power viruses.
AMD was guessing the 4090 would be 2x the performance of the 3090. Instead it's about 1.6x. And they aimed to beat that 2x, not just match it.

With rumors of RDNA3 boosting near 4ghz, and how high the core counts were leaked to be, there's no way it doesn't completely demolish the 4090 in rasterization. There's a reason why Nvidia spent 10 seconds displaying rasterization performance, and spent hours on meme buzzwords and snakeoil.

        Anonymous

You don't know what the word Rasterization mean. You're thinking of shader.
And that's a lot of preemptive hype for a rumor at best.

Rasterization has become a generic term for OpenGL/DirectX rendering that is done in a "hacky" way rather than ray traced.

And don't screw with the current pricing. They'd still make bank, capture market share, and make consumers relatively happy. Do something like what Sony did with PlayStation 4 game sharing.

yeah, if the market truly has calmed down with the downfall of crypto they would win big by doing this. we've had years of "just make any card and price it however and it'll sell out immediately" and NV seems to be betting on this being the case again (or then it's going to be a paper launch to get the old cards out first)

RX 6600 was between 1080 and 1080ti performance but price was too high.

If they would simply refresh the 6600xt slightly on the new 6nm, and make it $219 MSRP, 130W TDP, I think that'd do well. That's what an RX580 successor would look like imo.

put it in a pcie2.0 board and it does.

The PCIe 4.0 x8 is literally meaningless.
It's 15% performance loss in Doom if your board is 3.0, but still >144fps.
Every other game it's a 0.1-5% fps loss if you're on PCIe 3.0

put it in a pcie2.0 board and it does.
I don't care if only 1% of people does that.
            Is a limitation the rx580 doesn't have.

A CPU from a PCIe 2.0 board is not powerful enough to drive the RX 6600. It's between gtx 1080 and 1080ti performance. Just get a 1050ti, maybe RX570 at most, or upgrade your CPU.

The only way PoW will die is you completely destroy the economic incentive to do it. PoS doesn't do shit and will only only become a geekier form of trading paintings, collectibles to avoid taxes.
