Russian fighter jets

Why do Russians suck at fighter jets? The only time a Russian produced fighter jet downed an American produced fighter jet that I can think of is a Mig-25 downing a F/A-18 during Desert Storm. Other than that, nothing. A lot of Mig29s, which were supposed to counter F-15s and F-16s, were downed in Desert Storm and when NATO bombed Serbia, it destroyed almost the whole fleet of Mig29s. I'm not saying Russia should've been at the top but they should've at least downed one American jet for two of theirs. Just look at pic related and all those numbers.

Because 90% of their air combat was between export monkey models piloted by untrained, unmotivated african and arab trash, massively outnumbered and outgunned already with logistics and intel issues.

      >in desert storm
      >in Serbia
In desert storm the Iraqis had absolutely dog shit air defense. It was outdated and ineffective, poorly integrated and largely dependent on old school anti aircraft artillery. Because of this Saddam realized they could just be destroyed on the ground easily so he ordered them to fly to Iran. The Iraqi French Mirage F-1s and Soviet Sukhoi Su-24s, Su-25s, and MiG-29S were the aircraft ordered to flee to Iran.
In the bombing of Yugoslavia the Serbians didn’t really have many aircraft and focused on the usage of anti air defenses. Also outdated like the Iraqi air defenses they were at least oriented better and the Serbians excelled at the shoot and scoot. By the end of the NATO bombing campaign the Serbians were effectively still unscathed but the threat of a direct invasion forced them to surrender. The Serbian Air Force was in pretty awful conditions during the time and had 6 Mig 29s shot down and 4 destroyed on the ground.

It also just ignores the Soviet style. They intended aircraft and extensive air defense networks to be used simultaneously.

Where are all of your SU-57s btw? All russian analogovnet wunderwaffes seem to somehow exist only in memes and video games.

The Su-57 has been used in Ukraine. The Soviet and later Russian strategy depends on large amounts of air defenses to create area denial to enemy aircraft. This then allows their aircraft to stay at altitude further back and intercept any enemy aircraft.
Russia divides Ukraine into multiple sectors, each sector has 2 aircraft assigned for air superiority in the air 24/7. Due to this Ukraine has imposed a flight ceiling of only 500 feet for their aircraft, over 500 feet and they're fucked. To fire they rapidly pitch up and then release their ordinance to fire in a parabola. There isn't a lot in service yet and that role is primarily handled by Su-35s.

From the same article, the USAF alone flew over 5 million sorties, for an final ratio of 0.4 aircraft lost per 1000 sorties from ALL causes.

It is the Mig-25 for me, peak star fighter aesthetics, I could easily see it doing dogfights on Mars above the soviet colonies.

      >SU-57
It has unironically more A2A kills than F35 and F22 combined.

That is because the F-35 is an overdesigned piece of shit that is too big to fail for the MI, so it keeps getting orders and feature bloat until it ends up being yet another too expensive to actually use toy and the F15-16 has to carry yet another generation as a workhorse.

      >doesn't elaborate why

He probably doesnt even know about the soviet doctrine of purposefully avoiding the previous and only making "losable" military vehicles, no expensive golden death stars, they were always calculating with a higher loss ratio from more and rougher contact. Partly from WW2 experience which impressed on their brains like the first goth titty on a 10 year old, and partly from their chosen grand war plan of invading the fulda gap.

Weren't alot of Soviet planes deliberately built like that so as to survive the EMP pulses encountered in a nuclear war?

No, they weren't built like that because the didn't have the ability the manufacture solid-state electronics.

          Wrong.

Weren't alot of Soviet planes deliberately built like that so as to survive the EMP pulses encountered in a nuclear war?

Many of them did, as again, these were expected to be used in the great boogalo, rushing into europe as nukes are going off left and right.

Thats like using blackpowder muskets instead in the 20th century and stating that its because in case the ammo factories get bombed.

Soviets actually had some critical infrastructure running on semiconductors (like the power grid). They were just way behind on that tech and were forced to import.

You are really not understanding how much the soviets deliberately valued and planned for ruggedness. Like for example, up until very recently they had a fleet of like a hundred steam locomotives stored in siberian shitstain villages, in case of a nuclear war happens so they could still keep critical war logistics flowing even if literally all their major logistics centers get bombed and they have only firewood available as fuel.

          why not the 31?

Its not the same without the all-white paint. Cuck grey has the be the worst fucking thing that happened to military planes. Why on earth visibility even matters if all real combat is BVR now, atleast just let the pilots paint nose art on them.

No idea but it's he fundamental reason why a lot of Soviet tech sucked. I think it's just cope because it really trickles down to things other than the plane itself, for example the missiles benefit a lot from better electronics
