Right now, AI music generators are at the level where they can produce music that is pleasant enough, but not extraordinary.

Right now, AI music generators are at the level where they can produce music that is pleasant enough, but not extraordinary. In the next five or ten years, they will cross the threshold of being better composers than the best humans.

How will this affect the music industry and human music listening habits/culture?

Music changes as technology changes. People thought the drum machine would put drummers out of business. I think AI will enhance electronic music, like you will be able to play around with voices and music, i think DJs will still have a job

How will it enhance music no one can explain this to me?

      >People thought the drum machine would put drummers out of business.

People though self playing pianos would replace real piano players. That was 1905.

That's not how music works you retard. There's no magical assortment of notes thats the best music ever. Also how is the ai going to improve composition, there's no where to go, unless it can invent new notes or something

they said the same thing about chess and poker. now, AI has reinvented those games and people have relearned how to play them.

you wish that was true, but it is not. you probably do not understand how stockfish and alphazero were designed and the critical differences between them.

stockfish was programmed with the best chess moves ever created by the greatest masters of the game. then it played millions of times and became so good that the greatest masters could not beat it.

Alpha Zero was created entirely differently. It was given the basic moves and rules and nothing else. It played itself millions of times. It created entirely novel gambits and positions that had never been played before by anyone. Soon, it not only beat the best human players but it beat Stockfish, which was essentially the greatest human player possible. It reinvented the game of chess.

There are obvious parallels to music and literature, if only you are willing to explore that.

It's just not the same thing is it, artists use inspiration, they don't sit there stressing over the exact right place to put each note because their isn't a right place.

Doesn't work that way with entertainment.
Humans will simply reject/accept music based on image and ideology and fashion alone.
People love the creator more than they love it's creations.

Like I'm always going to hate Rage Against the Machine even if they make the greatest song ever.

If Metallica makes an album with just fart noises it will still debut at #1.

see this homosexual already made his decision to not like it.
All the AI magic in the world won't change his mind.
He's already rejected it based on ideology.
AI is not going to change his sore vag in 5 years or in 100 years

Composition is coming up with a certain combination of notes with their lengths and the lengths of rests between them. Advancing composition isn't about coming up with new notes, it's about coming up with new combinations of the aforementioned that evoke pleasure and/or certain emotions in humans. This is definitely something that AI can and will learn to do better than humans ever could.

I simply do not believe you.

The whole point of AI is to become better and better with time if you dont know.

This is so retarded lmao. Like 90 percent of people listen to music because they feel some sort of personal connection with the artist. No one will give shit how good some ais beats or symphonys are it's not a thing that exists

In the future you'll be able to feed AI 10-20 of your favorite songs and it'll create the best album you've ever heard.

Yeh because when you mix fine wine, beer, toilet hooch, and Mike's hard lemonade all together you always get an amazing drink.
Nah, like non AI music it's hit or miss
