He's talking about a Nismo and it does handle exceptionally well and does some tighter tracks in faster lap times but anything with a long straight the Corvettes c6-c7 even in base trim eat it

No. Also for anyone who hasn't realized this, V8 cars are superior in every regard the ONLY reason they make V6 sports cars is because other (gay) non-American countries have displacement taxes. A base mustang GT is like $90k in Belgium due to these fees and taxes. So in those countries if you decide you need a V8 your car WILL be expensive as frick so they just make it luxury and sell it at a high price. America is essentially the only car market in the world which can have cheap V8 cars. Australia maybe too. Japan and EU no way. So don't kid yourself, those cars are inferior to V8 cars in every way. Fuel economy is equal, sound, power, are all worse. Weight is no different. Now you can still really enjoy them, they're fun cars and I'd love to own one, but again if you happen to be lucky enough to live in the USA then don't settle for an inferior option. Also the way things are going it seems V8 cars will be banned in the not too distant future so make your move now.

Depending on the prices, get a 350z instead
At least where I live, 370 is 2x the price of the 350

Look around at a G35/350z platform first. Note the differences in price between the two and take into account the repairs/mods you could have done with the difference. Make your decision then.

Finding a low mileage manual 350z HR is going to take months of searching and it'll be pricey as frick as they only produced it for a couple years before the 370 came out. And the 350z DE, which is the most common by far, is extremely slow by modern standards. It only has 20hp less but something about the power delivery or tune makes it so much slower than the HR. It's about as fast as a V6 accord, maybe a bit slower.

        wtf are you talking about
HR has a higher rev limit, DE has more torque, they have the same exact gearing, most 3rd party reviewers have 0-60 times being very close

350z's are fat and relatively low power compared to modern standards yeah, still faster than miatas and brz's though

      I can get 2016-2017 one's for about 20-25k CAD.

You can do absolutely ludicrous things with a 3.5L with the money you save not buying the 400. Both the automatic and manual transmission in the 350 are best in class. The manual is used in 800+ horsepower LS builds with a single adaptor plate, and the automatic in the Z/G35 is shared with the Nissan Titan 5.6l with tow package. It’s fricking beefy.

In 2003 when the G35 was first released it was faster around every German track than the bmw 3 series lol cope about this however you need to.

They lost the edge eventually, but stayed exponentially more reliable because they refused to change what worked well and held up for 1/4 million miles

    Go for it, OP
I own a base model with the upgraded Akebono brakes and the S-tune package, most fun I've ever had in a car and I've driven quite a lot of JDM crap. Nismo's (especially V1's) are going to be extremely expensive once Dominicans realize the 350Z will be cannabalized to keep its hotter older sister on the road. Don't even think about FI unless you're Arabic or willing to put a vr30 in it
If you're extra based get the Nismo S-tune package, objectively better looking than the V1 and V2 Nismo's and when ordered from a dealership they'll match the paint

      >Don't even think about FI unless you're Arabic or willing to put a vr30 in it

Twin turbo or supercharged 370z/g37's are insane. Not sure why you mentioned Arabic as that makes no sense. Seems like your just salty about not having the skill to TT your setup. Vr30 swaps are so expensive and labor intense which is why they are extremely rare. It makes no sense when you can get 600whp on stock internals or 1000whp+ on built blocks.

      It's a good car.

It's amazing with the right mods.

With modest weight reduction (light wheels, remove spare tire + jack, cat delete, lightweight seats, lightweight flywheel, etc) and full bolt ons + tune you can be at 430-450 HP N/A and under 3100 pounds, at which point it's an insanely fun car.

FI is fine if you stay under 400 torque and don't absolutely beat on it like mad. With the right engine mods you can push for 500 torque relatively safely, but again if you're gonna go do 10 drag runs a day or take it to the track FI will break shit without supporting mods.

      This.

I wanted a Z but after seeing that the factory Nissan service manual covers both cars (because they’re literally identical aside from interior, every single bolt is in the same place on the two cars, engine trans diff and suspension geometry are identical, ect) I decided to just get a G35 because it was like 3,000$ less on average for the same mileage and condition but literally the same exact platform and car underneath, but stretched a bit so you can move around friends and girls in back 🙂

The G looks more “professional” like non boyracer, non tryhard, but undoubtedly the Z was offered in nicer colors and will hold resale slightly better because of le z. Not that g35s haven’t been appreciating though. Every time I look they get more expensive, people are figuring out it’s the literal same car.

        Anonymous

If by heavier and worse handling z then yes. Only reason I got my g is because I couldn't afford the HR at the time

          Anonymous

Yeah I mean it’s got leather all over the place, a stretched chassis, headed seats, sunroof, ect. It’s heavier but you can buy any non interior part for a 350z and it’s identical and fits right on the G.

Some Z trims did have a VLSD while the G was all open diff though.

I bought mine because it was the cheapest way into the platform, never regretted it, I dog this car everyday and she doesn’t skip a beat at 220k. Might do the timing chain guides soon, I’ve seen a 500,000 mile G35 all original never rebuilt for sale in my area, they’re runners assuming you don’t live in snow.
