Do these editions have facing page texts of the Latin original? If not then they're kind of worthless, sorry. Get Loeb in future, more expensive but far better investment.
I'm working my way through the Church fathers currently. Also reading up on early Church history; just got Bede's "Ecclesiastical History of the English People" and am going to get Eusebius' "Church History." I desire to understand the roots of my faith so that I can better defend it and because I find it enthralling.
Holderlin is too schizo for me. I’ve tried reading his essays but they just leave me scratching my head. No one here can seem to explain him either so I gave up
I've been really excited to read Holderlin because of this actually. My perception and understanding are a mess and I hope it will resonate with me because of this.
I have a few books in the mail:
A different translation of Decameron. I loved the Nichols one but wanted to try the Bondranella/Musa one. It is Signet so cheap as fuck. I like the work those two have done so I figured why not
Juvenal’s Satires. I could see him posting on LULZ. What I’ve sampled of him made me laugh out loud in parts
The Penguin Classics Ovid by Golding. I figured it’s finally time to try to tackle this bad boy. From what I sampled it was a little challenging but when I got into a rhythm it was smooth and enjoyable. Metamorphoses is more philosophical than some seem to realize so I’m surprised it isn’t more popular here. If Golding gives me problems I can compare to my Humphries version

I bought The Master and Margarita and My Year of Rest and Relaxation last week.
Not great, my own fault for buying into memes.
>My Year of Rest and Relaxation
you deserved it.
M&M is not bad, though.
Just came in yesterday.
>Athanasius

if you ever have a chance to grab the collection, look out for the 'Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture'.
