>Rap is not music for one thing, I mean it isn't music, it's talking.

>Rap is not music for one thing, I mean it isn't music, it's talking. That's what it says: rap. Rap means talking. It's not music. It's talking in meter, it's got rhyme and it has meter. It has rhythm. It's not music. Ya know it's okay, I mean there's nothing wrong with it, I have no problem with it, it just isn't music. And people who get to be great at rap are not great musicians, they're just great at rap, ya know? There's no road from rapping into music, ya know what I mean? Music is something you can get better, and better, and better at, I don't know if you can do that with rap. I don't know whether it has that kind of space in it, or that it leads off into infinite number of possibilities. Music does.

The biggest proof that rap isnt music: rap listeners don't listen to any music. You could put a Beatles song, Beethoven, whatever in front of them and they would be totally flummoxed. They wouldn't know what to do. They've never encountered music before.

Correct? Rap is a style of vocals, used in several genres such as Hip-hop and Nu-metal, not a genre of music itself.
