This was at church btw, so it wasn’t totally out of place in the sense it would be in more casual environments

Why did you go double-breasted with odd trousers for church? Your hair is a bit messy for church as well. Shape up, young man.

The tie is too loose, the jacket looks too long and too big for you, makes your shoulders look narrow and your hips wide.
But I like the clothes themselves, they just don’t fit you

This. It’s especially hard to get the fit of double-breasted jackets right. Maybe try a single breasted next time and go with a full suit instead to not look a frat/boat club baby.

Hmm, I took that pic after getting home at the end of the day so the tie being loose I sort of have an excuse for.

As for the length, I think that’s how it’s supposed to fit. The guy I bought it from said a jacket should cover your ass, which that one does just about perfectly. Modern jackets are cut higher, but this one is from the 40s so I think we’re just not used to the proportions as much.

The width may be where there is a problem though. I’ve had a few people mention the width of the hips but there wasn’t a universal consensus, hence why I posted to get a better sample size. Important thing is that the shoulders are the right size since they can’t really be changed

It may just be the angle the picture was taken, but if the suit covers your ass, it is a correct fit. You might just have weird proportions. Tell you tailor to take in the sides and show us how it looks afterwards.

I’ll post another picture from a better angle later. I don’t really have weird proportions that I can tell. Most casual clothes generally fit me as they should off the rack and I’ve never had much of a problem with the proportions not matching

The jacket waist is too large and the tie knot is comically wide. Fix the fit, the idea behind it isn’t bad.

Yeah the tie is pretty wide. I just tied a Windsor because it’s easy but tbh I rarely wear ties so I didn’t know how to do anything else at the time

    >you don’t need to be /fit/ to be /fashion/!
    kek
OP looks like he’s borrowing grandpa’s suit for the sock hop

    • Anonymous says:

Hmm maybe the jacket is too wide then because I’m actually pretty active. Not bulked or anything but I climb and play water polo so I’m not a skinny fat or hungry skellington

    >the jacket doesn’t match the pants
The heck is the point of only wearing half a suit? Either wear a suit or don’t, gay.

        >OP isn’t even wearing a proper suit
        Holy mother of gayry

You should take in the waist, and also take some length off the bottom.
If you’re really into it, I suggest also slimming up the arms a little.
And like others said, the tie knot is too big and loose.
But good on you for wearing a suit! Gatekeeping will not bring suits back, everyone should be encouraged to wear a suit as it is a dying fashion

        >good on you for wearing a suit
The gay is wearing a sports coat and pants, Anon. Picrel is a suit.

        >everyone should be encouraged to wear a suit
        Based.

          >posts some garish polyester chinkshit monstrosity
          >tie sticking out the bottom of the vest like a dick out of a waistband
Come on anon, I even like the black and burgundy dinner jackets but this is just too much. Unless you’re secretly the devil who owns in a nightclub in LA, there is no way a normal person is wearing this around

He’s posted similarly garish suits in different threads for the past few hours. I thought he was being ironic at first, but now I’m worried.

Pretty cool but I would resize the jacket, get a different haircut (zoomer bowl cut doesn’t fit the outfit) and specially change the tie’s windsor knot. Windsor knot is easy and popular but it is VERY big and ugly and makes a suit look ridiculous, try a half windsor or another thing.

Hm thanks that actually looks really good. I’m getting a general consensus about the waist being too big so I’ll definitely take that in when I go to get it repaired. Tie can obviously be fixed with a different knot or skinnier tie. Still unsure about the length but I’ll think about that too.. 50/50. And good touch with the pocket square, I’ll add that to the list too

My hair has always been really curly. If I don’t buzz it, that’s how it looks. And yeah I’m gonna learn a new tie know because that tie is already fat and the knot doesn’t help that. And resizing the jacket has some general consensus so I’ll do that too, mostly by taking the waist in
