How do I get hair like on the right?
My current hair (left) is really straight and thick and not very manageable.

I’ll keep growing it out but what else do I do?

how do I make my jeans not crease like this? They still look like this when I cuff them so I don’t know if getting them hemmed is gonna change anything

What colors should I go for outside black? Whenever I buy something new I get black because it’s just easier but I don’t want to always be wearing monochrome black fits.

Are there any nice belts that use these ratchet systems? I find them much more comfortable but most of the ‘leather’ ones look like plastic

Should I buy multiples of the exact same shirt when I find one I really like? What about slight color variations of the same fit (red/brown/khaki)? What’s reasonable behavior?

    • Anonymous says:

Buying multiple of the same fit is definitely a great investment. WHy not get something that fits you great? I personally wouldn’t get multiple of the same shirt cuz if u overwear them it might look like you only wear one shirt. Wearing only one shirt will expose your power level anon

Is picrel using placket stays or something?
How does the unbuttoned collar stay so upright?

Do placket stays affect anything or become uncomfortable when you actually button up to the neck and wear a tie?

And would I just bring my shirts to any tailor and have them install placket stays if I want them?
    Thanks

First thing you need to do to learn this is move into south central Los Angeles and hang around the folk they wear Joop Homme Fragrance, and then maybe… they’ll tell you the starch that they use to iron clothes 🙂

If it was me, I would probably go to the fashion district in Los Angeles in person, smoke a really fat blunt of weed that goes out every 15 minutes and observe what goes around 😉

I got some interior paint on my pant knee when the spray can exploded. Its a small circle, about silver dollar sized, that blends in pretty well with the indigo dye. They’re new selvedge jeans from bronson so i don’t really mind it, i just want to know if it’ll fade along with the dye or will it stay dark as the rest of the denim fades around it.

I’m looking for good brands of tees on the style of pic related (meaning black with some gray/white futuristic minimal/abstract design) maximum I’m willing to pay for a tee is 80 bucks. What does /fashion/ recommends me?

I came across a very cheap flecktarn parka that fits me and I bought it for its meme status. But now I don’t really now how to assemble a fit with it. What do I wear that won’t make me lok like a sperg?

    • Anonymous says:

      Black cargo pants
Black military boots, like jungle boots
Graphic tee with some trendy meme streetwear brand like off-white, fear of god or palm angels (wear the jacket unzipped of course)

    • Anonymous says:

-Jeans ranging from black to dark blue
-Sneakers or boots, black or gray
      Even earthy colors would help.
      -Some shade of brown chinos
      -Green or also brown/red pullover

Also has anyone got trouble with how people sell their shit on vinted? I’m getting tired of people proclaiming to sell "long" coats that just ends at the sleeves.

      • Anonymous says:

If you’re talking specifically about flecktarn parkas, they’re purposedly made with somewhat short sleeves. Applies to all german parkas and overshirts.

        • Anonymous says:

Not really flacktarn in particular, just your average coat, wether it’s made by loden, zara, superdry or any other kind of brand.
Feels like i have to thrift for an xl in women size just to get a long coat, men either have normal or (rarely) 3/4 due to people tagging or describing their article like shit.

What should I look out for when buying hebrewellery? I’m currently eyeing picrel from coolshirtz (curious to hear what /fa thinks of that brand in general). The site lists it as being .925 Sterling Silver. I understand that alloys are better for hebrewellery purposes, but I want to avoid buying stuff that might contain all kinds of heavy metals and the like. Is there any way to verify the origins of the material? Any things I should becarefulwith?

Looking for black leather derbies as similar as possible to the Doc Marten 1461, but higher quality. Must be on the casual side (round toe, beefy soles, contrast eyelets/stitching). Bonus points if not made by slave laborers. Price not a concern. Any recs?

i recently lost 50kg, which is great and all, but buying new clothes is a pain in the hecking ass so im hoping i can get pushed in the right direction. ive already sorted shoes, trousers, jackets and accessories, but tops are doing my head. i want
    >shirts
    >knit sweaters
but its impossible to find decent quality ones at a fair price at high street stores, and the usual recommendation is to go to thrift stores, but uk thrift stores are either full of garbage or overpriced hipster dives. are there any brands i should look for second hand online, or do i just have to suck it up and buy cheaply made bengali shit from m&s or whatever?

    • Anonymous says:

I feel you I recently lost alot too congrats anon. Tshirts I’m finding target good fellow, old navy / gap shirts and st John’s bay from jc penny. Not to sure on that side of the pond but I’ll look. I agree hard to find nice shirts with out branding or graphics that don’t shrink.

      • Anonymous says:

exactly what you want exists. loopwheel t shirts. theyll run you 50-100 per shirt from germany and japan or 10-30usd per shirt made in china with china cotton. only one place in japan and one place in germany have the machine to make the fabric but theyre sold under many brands. some are fake and not really loopwheeled but still really heavy cotton. widely available in vintage and military patterns.
search loopwheeled tees or heavyweight cotton tees on the plebbit rawdenim board or sufu, tons of info. i like samurai and studio d’artisan for pricy ones, bronson and sauce zhan (cheaper on taobao btw) for cheap ones.

        • Anonymous says:

op here, i was referring to shirts like the one harry is wearing in the pic, for t shirts im just sticking to fruit of the loom shit. the quality of expensive t shirts is wasted on me lol

          • Anonymous says:

they either have loopwheeler or merz b schwanen make the fabric for them like plenty of brands do or its not real loopwheel. plenty of stuff is marketed as loopwheeled but not true loopwheel. those look nice though they probably are. too lazy to check if they say.

    • Anonymous says:

For sweaters, I always recommend https://www.sweatershop.com/ . Fisherman stuff is on sale for about 40 quid which is the same as highstreet stuff, but it’s the best quality you’ll get for under 100. for shirts you’ll just have to keep at it with the charity shops, somebody’s bound to have donated their dead grandads old shirts to one of them

    • Anonymous says:

All the good second hand stuff is on Vinted or ebay now. Charity shops just sell their nicer stuff on eBay and are full of Sheinshit and Primark with a few exceptions.

      • Anonymous says:

In all fairness, it is pretty hard filtering through all the garbage online unless you know what brands to look for, and going off of the material is risky because people new to fashion have no idea what good stuff looks like so they can easily fall for fake 100% wool descriptions

        • Anonymous says:

Vinted sellers usually post the labels if they’re selling something that’s 100% wool or will be willing to take a pic for you, but you do need to be able to trawl.

          • Anonymous says:

Fair enough, but I still thing anon would be better off just getting something off the website linked. No use in giving himself a headache over it now when he can deal with that stuff further down the line once he’s more into fashion

poor here, how many jeans should i own if theyre all i wear? the wrangler texas come in darkstone and stonewash, but the stretch regulars would let me get rinsewash, darkstone and light wash for the same price, so im wondering whether the difference in quality/longevity is major enough to warrant only have two pairs in a less diverse colour range

    • Anonymous says:

When I was below the poverty line and wore exclusively jeans I had three pairs I had on rotation. That was the sweet spot for me. Even these days in which I ownn about a dozen pairs I wear mostly three on the reg.

White sweater over burgundy dress shirt?
This looks very weird. Ik its pulled a bit too straight.
But idk I feel like white shirt w burgundy sweater is fine, but this white sweater over burgundy feels off. Especially because its see through.

    Should I return the sweater?

    • Anonymous says:

also this combo doesn’t work at all, i can tell you’re still new to this so keep it simple and get a white shirt, ditch the tie

      • Anonymous says:

The tie is required for my job
The combo I wasn’t a fan of, however in reverse (burgundy sweater, white shirt) I think would’ve been great.
The tie I wasn’t a fan of but didn’t have anything else that could match that specific shirt. I have a few on order.
I usually wear white shirts though. I just wanted to wear the burgundy that day. I didn’t wear the sweater though.

.925 is perfectly safe and fine. not sure how you’d verify origins, just buy from a reputable source and look out for the proper stamps

hey anons i’ve been having trouble on dating apps and with life in general. my therapist says i need to stop seeming so mean and weird if i want to attract my ideal long term partner (e.g. pic related top right, from hinge). most of my incoming likes on these apps are weird alt girls—nothin wrong with that, but i’ve yet to date a girl without a personality disorder and i’d love to be able to

so yeah anons, should i cut my hair short and dye it back to its natural black? i was figuring i could get a yung leo (pic related, top middle) and wear pomade every day and dress less weird and just wear dickies, chucks and distressed black/white tees every day. then again if this is all futile because a chick like in that pic is too far out of my league, then forget the whole hecking question

just like be yourself man, if you know you’re mean and werid, then stop? lol

I suggest picking an art form and diving deep into it. That you can learn things like scale, rhythm and repetition, value, etc. in a way that keeps you motivated.

Also use some kind of inspiration board. Try to anchor it with things that have longevity, like old and respected works that somehow still look fresh. This way you can build up your own sense of visual style and won’t fall for trends.

You can’t develop your artistic taste by reading philosophy. It is sus when people write philosophy books about art forms that they don’t actually practice at a high level. Peter Kivy on music is a prime example of this kind of useless writing

Yeah well dickies and a white tshirt is good but you’re competing against all the other guys wearing the exact same thing who want to date the same grungy alt girls.

My advise is you anonymously reach out to the girls you think are hot on instagram and find out what their ideal guys wears and acts like and then find the common denominator between all their preferences and establish your appearance and personality based on that.

You’re already an autist asking /fashion/ what to dress like so you have nothing to lose.

Go elsewhere and find new ideals, push new limits. its no wonder why you’re so mean and bitter if you’ve been pushing the same aesthetic and ethos since half way through high school.
Brother, its been 10 years. Throw yourself into the shit and come back stronger. It’ll feel good.
And if after that you’re still really into Kurt Cobain and similar, then it’ll be with renewed vision and taste. And that’s good too. But for heck’s sake, you gotta do something.

      Godspeed, brother.

Depends how warm you want to be. You’ll need more layers with wool (go secondhand) but an ugly npc puffer will keep you warmer.

There’s sprays specifically designed to clean them. Alternatively, a damp rag with a drop of dish soap works (if they’re not leather or suede)
          >dress shoes
          >boots
Cottong rag, horsehair brush and leather balm. Use the cottong rag to remove dust and dirt, then brush to remove the stubborn dirt. Apply a light coat of leather balm (neutral/uncolored) let it sit for about ten minutes to an hour until the leather has absorved the balm, brush until you get a light shine.
Optionally you can add a bit of shoe polish to give them extra shine, following the same protocol.
Do this about once per year to twice per year depending on how much you wear your shoes and how often they get exposed to harsh climate (rain, ice, snow, road salt, etc.)
To maintain just brush the shoes/boots before putting them on and afyer taking them off. Let them air dry (not close to a heat source) and store them someplace dry and without direct sunlight.

In that case the leather shouldn’t be frail, just dry clean the inside and for the outside use a plain humid cloth.
As for maintaining the supleness of the leather, use a moisturiser or any kind of leather feeding cream once a month, that should be the trick.

I’m sure anyone who’s handled milsurp know what I’m talking about and my question is how do I get rid of it so that all my other clothes don’t start smelling like it when storing it together.

    • Anonymous says:

If it’s what i think it is, there’s not much to be done.
You could try to wash using sodium bicarbonate to reduce the smell because so far, i’ve thrown a radio station bag into the washing machine about 15 times and it still reeks.
Alternatively, shove all of them in a specific bag in hope the smell doesn’t touch other clothes.

      • Anonymous says:

Damn, bummer. I’ve washed the clothes a number of times and even aired them out for weeks at a time, but the smell still remains, if only a bit weaker. I wonder whether it is just a musty smell because of the conditions it has been stored in before being sold on the civilian market, or if it’s due to some chemical agent used to impregnate it to protect it against moths/help with waterproofing. Anyway, I’ll give the sodium bicarbonate a shot, thanks.

And what is it? As the other anon pointed, there’s this distinctive smell that only affects military surpluss clothing regardless of country of origin. It’s not present on any other vintage secondhand clothing and it never really goes away. For the record, I never got that smell transferred to other clothing. I’ve always been curious about its origin.

Can’t pinpoint exactly, my best guess is that it’s to ward off bugs since moths love eating wool, mosquitoes are hungry bastards and ticks are everywhere in forests.
But so far i haven’t tested that theory yet since i mostly wear in autumn and winter where none of those bugs are present so if anyone wanna try to wear a battledress or anything that got that smell during spring/summer, go ahead.

Unless you’re buying from a one-man operation type business like someone making their own stuff on etsy and the like, very unlikely. Nobody gives a shit nor will pay enough attention to you.
You’ll have to be a real serial-returner for a business to blacklist you, and even so, they might just limit your returns.

I have a 80% return rate and havent been banned from anywhere. There is one store where I have returned all three things I have bought and they still let me buy their stuff. Of course they all did free returns, there are stores that have paid returns those prolly care even less

where do i go for a pair of regular chinos? been wearing the m&s stretch ones on the right for a while but now i just want a 100% cotton pair that can last for a while. do i go for dockers or what?

    • Anonymous says:

Anywhere? Uniqlo, arket, cos, zara (maybe not that since they suck now), outlet retailers like about you or zalando, whatever you like. Sure dockers is fine too
The only thing that matters is budget and material quality and how it fits which depends on your own proportions, so you will have to try them on anyway. For something as basic as chinos there is no reason to pay designer prices either, nobody will see the tiny logo on your ass, anything over 100 dollars is too much

recently ive been trying to avoid the usual high street stores in favour of brands that have been around for a while, but if im out anyways then i might as well stop in and see them. that being said, an irl of mine recommended the 1930s double pleated ones from bronson mfg, which are under £40 even with shipping and seem well received enough. any thoughts?

but, am tranny (boymoding right now), but when I am looking better & can pass, I def want to be able to dress more fem, but one question
are there any wide toe box shoes/boot styles that can be cute/casual that 1. don’t look stupid & clown like. 2. don’t look like child’s shoes (some times when you look that stuff up too many come w/ the cringey e-boita/people not dressing their age type of styles, & I want to avoid that

I mostly want wide toe box shoes cause 1. I don’t like how my toes looks smooshed, but more importantly 2. I have rheumatoid arthritis & wide toe box leads to less flare ups in my feet for me

why do you people/people as a whole care about fashion?
I get into fights with my family all the time for repairing my clothes (my repairs aren’t big, just buttons/repairing <1in holes), they think I should just buy new clothes all the time and my closet is full of clothes I never wear because it exceeds the amount of clothes that can fit in my washing machine.
Why should I care about fashion? I get 0 benefit out of it and it just costs me money
I’m ugly anyway and so it really doesn’t make a difference first impression wise.

at least one lighter neutral and one darker neutral. those should go well enough with most of a typical person’s wardrobe. people won’t give a shit about how many jackets you have. you should care more about having the jackets you need for any scenario you’ll realistically be in.

My foot is 10 inches. I’ve always worn a 10 even though that’s allegedly 2.5 sizes too big and they’ve never gone flying off my foot.

I don’t plan on returning these for being the wrong size and I think that’s more likely to happen going galaxybrain and ordering a 7.5 when 10s have always worked.

graduating out of hs soon (18). my daily wear is hoodie, shirt, always generic sweatpants unless training then i wear shorts, (i only wear longsocks but i dont pull them up??? does this matter??) slides, jordans, or running shoes. went onto /fashion/ 4 years ago and saw the rate me thread and thought everyone looked weird and gay. I come back to present, and I look in the WAYWT thread, it’s the same thing (from my view atleast) and anons are making fun of them for looking like school shooters (they do, but atleast board culture is good). I even looked at r/fashion (yes reddit), but it’s just women. Is fashion and style just a giant meme? I don’t care about looking attractive or getting girls. I just don’t want to look like a bum/hs kid on the street, but not some snobby college kid either. also am not ESL.

What haircut would /fashion/ recommend for a man with straight hair and very prominent cheekbones? Right now my hair is kind of long and it hides my cheekbones but when I got it cut in the past it would always look weird to me, in part because my cheekbones seemed to jut out.
I’m not sure if pic rel would work on me since being as /fashion/ as Bowie is impossible but my jaw is similar and my cheekbones are very wide like his, but his forehead seems wider than mine, at least in this specific photo.
I don’t want a mullet, fade or zoomer broccoli hair. Is it a weight issue? Should I gain weight to make my cheekbones stand out less?
