PUNK was BULLSHIT - a Fashion statement

What the fuck happened to my generation? We took no shit and believed NOTHing that came from so called AUTHORITY figures. I am living with two so called punk rockers - one voted for Obama and the other one wants to know when to buy me a MAGA HAT> I don't even vote for president and I'm pigeonholed by these fucks? It ain't all good and it never was.

You fail to see the big picture. DIVIDE DIVIDE en infinitum. That's my point. Everyone thinks their generation was the end all be all of correcting the ills of society but in reality it was more identity politics defined by your shoes and your hair. Fashion. nothing more.

Schizo. The church speaks latin. Nothing spread Christianity to more groups faster than the fact mass was held in the latin language. The devil doesnt speak latin but Hollywood has rotted your brain to associate the two because their occult depictions bastardize ecclesiastical latin. She would either speak an incomprehensible language, glossolalia, or Enochian

Uh no. The writers made the devil speak Latin, because it was the language of the realm. Funny how they stopped doing the Latin masses in many loCALES... I was close to an S.J. who became the head of a cathedral that still had daily communicants, most of whom were lawyers that I worked for. They got up very early for the latin mass, and had coffee before getting to the office. I didn't mean to get into Vatican ll shit in this thread but it is actually related. The priest turned around when they stopped doing the mass in Latin. I guess you know that but perhaps the symbolism is lost on you? /js I doubt it. Don't fuck with me.

Anon is spot on here. There was no age division in music before punk. Even when younger people were famously advised not to trust anyone over 30, that all went away when anybody worth shit got up on a stage. We loved anybody who made good music and liked anyone else who felt the same way. Youth culture loses appeal when it is petulant, because in a healthy society most young people like their elders. Of course this hasn't been the case in a long ass time either.

Agreed, after that engineer decided to off himself to leave everything to his wife (child? yeah, right) I though: "okj, this movie is shite"

And when it was my mother who recommended it literally clapping her hands in joy saying "what a man! This is such a great movie" I knew for sure it was boomer propaganda for capable men just to die already.

The engineer could have done all that AND moved to mexico/Europe, wherever grab a teen wife start some religion, do whatever is it he wanted to do because he is a fucking engineer! Good luck his loser ex wife trying to get alimony from him there. This is what the movie should have shown.

Or at least, him using his contacts and position to completely rek her loser leech life for trying to ruin his Clint Eastwood way of speaking (silent yet active, not the gun part) style.

A "Punk's" fashion, trends, ideology, all of it is now largely dictated by their facebook feed nowadays. What I mean by that is, it, like other subcultural trends, have become commercialized. "I am unique because I have the limited edition full of hell 2016 patch!" "I have 2000 vinyl records in MY collection!" Its the same shit everywhere. A lot of these trends have also bled into each other. But none of these are truly anti establishment or in any way authentic or different. Its just people who are just as ruled by the consensus as anyone else. They dont go off script. They all have the same blm donation page in their Instagram bio's, the same few permutations of pronouns, pride flag, black power fist in their handles. Easily conditioned herd animals. And also rampant substance abuse problems.

It's gotten really bad. People I know that fancy themselves free thinkers are GONE. I know so many people and I talk to three, other than my roommates. They come to me and call me to say shit they can't say to anyone. It's pathetic. When I am the last vestige of conversation for real people, and I am a thousand miles away, we are in a heap of trouble. It's not enough that rich mother fuckers like Rogan and Elon are saying enough... now they are bad guys? WTF? I never agree with ANYONE about everything, and not because I am a contrarian. I am a fucking writer. there are no rules for words. period.

I hear you. I used to be involved with a lot of these crowds when I was younger. But I saw how faux and contrived it was. Theyve all become commercialized nihilists hurting themselves and others in their own self destructive confusion. You cant have an actual conversation anymore. No "what if...?" No actual interesting conversation or line of thought. They just want to destroy themselves and dramatize their broken lives and experiences into their narcissistic personal mythologies and try to out-virtue one another.

I never agree with everyone about everything either, which has caused everybody to leave, because the average idiot now wants everybody in their lives to be a total echo chamber. Actually having a conversation where they don't always agree with another person is too threatening to their weak feelings. And everybody loves categories now, I am forced to either be seen as leftist or a cuckservative, not anything else, so people become even angrier when I don't neatly fit into one of those. People have become pathetic.

    What? No.
Punk wasn't a fashion statement, it was a youth culture between like '76-'79 because kids became disconnected from the corporate world when the economy started going to shit. It became a fashion statement in the 80's, which is now New Wave.

In reality, the social backlash was against socialist governments running things into the ground, and Thatcher and Reagan won as a result,

But Hardcore punk still exited in the US, and it was a lot like the old punk scene.

One day one of my punk friends and I were walking down the street and someone hit a newspaper machine. He picked it up and we took it back to my aPT. There was about 60 dollars in there. What was hilarious was it was the middle of the day and no one stopped him or asked any questions. Circa 1984. None of them worked. I was a bartender but they all had more money than me. Weed. Panhandling, newspaper machines, no visible means o f support. I actually wrote stories about the newspaper machine guy. He was kind of a legend ... everyone called him Dead Frank. Mohawk. I like to listen to old shit. I like metal. I like Dire Straits, Talking Heads, Pretenders, shit like that when I don't want to have to think about it. When I did weBpages I listened to a lot of Radiohead. I know that isn't punk, that's what I used to relax while I was working. I have seen a lot of live shows in my life. I hung with sound guys in New Orleans for years. One of the best shows I ever saw was Misfits who opened for Gwar. I didn't know about Gwar. What a shock that was!~ I worked in music clubs so I saw shit like Buddy Guy and Jr. Wells and BB King and Taj Majal and Ry Cooder. RL Burnside. One night I took JaMES Hetfield around town because he wanted to get out of the tourist part of town. The only show I am tempted to see in the near future is Steely Dan because they are still tight and touring with Winwood. I probably won't because God knows what the tickets cost. Last big live show I saw was Ian Anderson doing Jethro Tull a musical which was pretty weird. Paid 100 to stand up in the wings for it. I saw the sign getting off the 101 in Guerneville CA and said WHAT? Sonoma County was CRAZY like every night there was something. Oh no I've said too much. I've seen almost everyone I wanted to see, and met many that were like Gods to me. I know it's all a spell but damn it was fun for a while.

What happened is that Boomers made laws to arrest the best of our generation so they could not compete later on with boomers positions., No excuse however for us after divorce and surviving as a feral in a society gone dyustyopåic, not to do anything. We tore down the Berlin wall when politicians were just on fear mode all the time. Situation is similar - we can do this better now that most of us have our shit together. Zoomers will support us so treat them well. Join politics, become active in your community, stand up against the absurd laws and change them, we can tear down this new wall of imbecility.

We must start from the bottom up however because once Boomers realise they lost the power they will try to trigger M.A.D. Something boomers always fantasised about, and now the pieces are coming together I understand why (and mind you, they might do this justr because they don't want people to say how hypocritical they were as parents and as people):

punk is a pointless fashion statement that was made safe by gnomish music industry and globalists. its outlawed in every country and turned into a retarded clothing consumer buyout.
punk was about annihilation of all government, intelligence agencies, independence from the system, freedom from the central contrl of the way the world is headed: 1 world govt

      For every living soul
That is all they talk about
      At Data Control
      They know everything about you
      Keeping secrets is too hard
Your life is all recorded for you
In holes punched in computer cards

      Data Control (digital readout)
      Data Control (perforated feedout)
      Data Control (microfilm files)
      Data Control (1984 style)

      A multinational corporation
      A stockholder's dream
      A nightmare of diversity
      A defense system so supreme
      Too technical to talk about
      Too complex for layman's brains

Or drive you crazy losers sane

I am not typically a lyric poster or fan but damn if you can't even find Inside Job anywhere on youtube for the last two or three years... While you were sleeping They came and took it all away The lanes and the meadows The places where you used to play It was an inside job By the well-connected Your little protest Summarily rejected It was an inside job Like it always is Chalk it up to business as usual...

Ideological control of society has been something slowly but surely happening over the entire planet, syncrhonized at the same exact time. When I was young in the USSR this was the mid 80s so we had no choice but to participate ina ll government projects and activtiies. Every aspect of life was political and you were forced to either adapt ideology or be shunned from social activities and economic activity. This is what they are doing to the entire planet. Everything must conform to the new ideology.
Look at all the major countries:
Germany, USA, Russia, Israel, China, all have insane amount of central control with intelligence services and hyper censorship. This is the plan they want for us all.
LULZ used to be the only place on the net that opposed this, but I've noticed an increasing amount of "people" now supporting large central government authorities, deepstates, etc. By 2030 the world will probably be living under 1 centralizated bureaucracy.

So this is why they're laying the bans now, in every country, around the world at the same time.

Subversion works slowly, compounding over the course of peoples entire lives. you're american, the day it all began for you at a noticable level was 9/11. but it started a lot earlier than that. it just became more noticed because they used peak hysteria. but if you look up to the run up to the Patriot Act and other totalitarian measures of control you can see plain as day that was where they were pushing you.

It's music. Always has been. If the music means something to you and evokes the emotions you want then listen. As for some social movement of punk. It was always bullshit that would fall in and eat itself. If you're looking to others to affirm what you think something is... well you missed the point of punk.

soldiers of Islam are loading their guns
    They're getting ready
But the Russian tanks are mowing them down
    They're getting ready
There's children in Africa with Tommy Guns
    Getting ready
While the Islam armies are beckoning on
    Getting ready
    There's a burning sun
And it sets in the western world
But it rises in the east
    And pretty soon
It's gonna burn your temples down
While the heads of state are having their fun
    Are they ready?
We're looking at the world through a barrel of a gun
    Are we ready?
You stand there beating on your little war drum
    Are you ready?
And it won't be long before your time has come
    Are you ready?
    There's a burning sun
And it sets in the western world
But it rises in the east
    And pretty soon
It's gonna burn your temples down, down

Life is good friend, life is great actually. The system they've built for everyone is designed to make you feel despair, to alienate you, and to slowly subject you to mass propaganda into ideology. in Poland we had to join the Communist scout movement,s inging communist songs, I remember these days. We were just kids. If a kid's parents didn't put them into this program they were shunned, and harassed by police, etc.
My point is that this is what they're doing to us. In 1984 nobody likes to remember the parts where Orwell talked about:
1- weaponization of linguistics. used to subvert all meanings and create 'newspeak' terms (already exists in my opinion: globohomo, racist, neo-nazi, micro aggression, etc)
weaponization of linguistics is designed to trap you into newspeak, which is consistently rooted in ideology and therefore get you to basically be a walking propaganda loudspeaker at every moment of your life.

2- turn the kids on their parents
people forget this part of the book and dismiss it, but it doesnt have to do with just kids. its about ideologicalization of all society at all forms. its already happening. you have roomates with helath issues more concerned with bullshit ideology politics than about their own health. thats not normal ,and was never the normal for early, free living man.

Chin up, they WANT YOU to feel hopeless, despair, trapped, etc. its how the system is designed to control you. take it from me who was nearly killed by communist authoritites in 1996 when i was 15 years old

Not me. I wore the same sweater and jeans every fucking day and fuck Disney and every aspect of their empire. I was on to them by the time I wAS 10 in the early 7os. Why do you presume anything about me? I already said I am old. I am ov er educated and have never been a slave to fashion. I bought my children their expensive shoes because I knew they had to have them to survive in their fucked up culture... imagine being the only one without Doc Martins when you were young. I didn't prohibit anything because I know how that backfires but I certainly didn't push Disney or Nick shit. My children grew up on Built to Spill and Blue Oyster Cult and Pink Floyd while their friends were doing Nickleback and shit. They are now adults with refined tastes of their own, and now and then I listen to something they tell me about but SADLY both of them are going retro because there is nothing worth listening to out there right now. They don't do rap. I think the last "modern" shit I got from them was Daft Punk, and I did like it but it was derivative. Good derivative but not original.

Actually I ripped them from a dialogue that sticks with me from a French class. I took six years, but nothing stays with me like the first two.
              Claude est la?
              No il est au zoo.
              Avec Edith ou avec Claudine?
I think everyone my age in America had that same book for French. Six years later we were reading and writing but meh I stopped bothering. I do love the language though. I wanted to learn Russian too but that was a no go from my dad when he was paying my way. BUT truly my favorite short story writer is Borges and I can't imagine how great he is in his own language. I feel robbed depending on translations and the older you get the harder it is to learn another language. If you are young and reading this, get another language. Any one. Except German. Fuck German. ha

Punk was sped-up garage rock with a nihilistic message.

Sex Pistols was just a marketing stunt done by a gnomish guy who wanted to promote his gf's clothesline.

It's post-punk that actually created a lot more interesting music. Punk itself is poor in good music. It's mostly about attitude, but that attitude was ironically the result of a gnomish cultural stunt.

Punk was promoted by (((record companies))) for the same reason they promoted gangster rap and other degenerate music. Why would they do something like that? You think it was all organic, bottom up movement? You need to explain why (((they))) in the record business and media promoting it then.

    >but we questioned authority!
A certain amount of dissent, even violence is allowed by those in power if it serves their aims. The most recent example is the astroturfed BLM. Lots of naive teenagers will grow up thinking they were part of a 'movement' and stuck it to 'the system' but what did any of these things really achieve? In decades to come, they'll look back at the protesting and rioting with rose tinted glasses, genuinely believing that what they did was an organic, grass roots thing that was against 'institutional racism'.

The real movements that can't be co-opted get shut the fuck down pretty fucking quickly and are dealt with very harshly. That's how you it's legitimate.

      Anonymous

I knew as a child it wasn't organic. My uncle, a few years older, told me I wouldn't know about the Osmonds and the Jackson 5 if it weren't for the radio stations playing them all the time, and the magazines, owned by the same people, promoting them. It's always been like that. Growing up and watching real musicians never make it out of town no matter their talent reinforced all of that. I can't think of a single musician since the 70s that wasn't thrust upon the public, even those that seemed INDY which was its own industry. My friend "programmed:" college radio for YEARS. He was the decider. Yes he had good taste but never think that shit was INDY on any level. It was just alt whatever which is its own genre now. We now conclude our programming for the night. Sun's rising. Or some facsimile thereof.

They said that we were trash

They can stuff their punk credentials
Cause it's them that take the cash
They won't change nothing with their fashionable talk
All their RAR badges and their protest walk
Thousands of white men standing in a park
Objecting to racism's like a candle in the dark
Black man's got his problems and his way to deal with it
So don't fool yourself you're helping with your white liberal shit
If you care to take a closer look at the way things really stand

Punk was once an answer to years of crap
A way of saying no where we'd always said yep

The qualifying factors are politics and class
Left wing macho street fighters willing to kick arse
They said because of racism they'd come out on the street
It was just a form of fascism for the socialist elite
Bigotry and blindness, a marxist con
Another clever trick to keep us all in line
Neat little labels to keep us all apart
To keep us all divided when the troubles start

Pogo on a nazi, spit upon a garden gnome
Vicious mindless violence that offers nothing new
Left wing violence, right wing violence, all seems much the same
Bully boys out fighting, it's just the same old game

No they wore that shit to get attention and to discredit the actually dissident ideas. It is a trick the system plays. co-opt the most vapid yet popular side of a movement. push the aesthetics on TV but make sure none of those pesky ideas get out. Turn an angry social movement into a neutered fashion trend. What else did the sex pistols achieve? All of the famous punks are vapid losers and druggies that would do anything for a $20k cheque. Oh wow he told the queen to fuck off. Wow. What was at stake? What was gained? the country life butter shills are here boys.

Well then from where are we supposed to get moments of deep philosophical insight if not from art? These social movements in music are co-opted as fashion trends and then sold back to the people as a means of control. The only music that is pushed by the system is music that is no threat to the system. Everybody's heard of the sex pistols. What revolutionary ideas do you associate with them?

I'm more a grunge guy but I listened to all the punk greats. "Do whatever the fuck you want to do and fuck any authority that tells you otherwise." is punk.
I pirated all my music and I don't buy much.
I suppose it has different meanings for different classes.

                yes
punk is rough, angry, and hateful.
grunge is smooth, angry, and vindictive.
punk is a punch in the face, grunge is a bullet from 300 yards.

I highly recommend mythology for a start. I worked at a university with this fabulous horrible painting no one wanted in my office. It was a Sisyphus/Prometheus amalgam, with an eagle eating the liver while the man was pushing the rock up the hill. Everyone hated that painting, but I thought it was hilarious and explained it to anyone who was smart enough to notice it. In short, Zeus was an asshole. Kafka had a great take on it but I am too lazy to find it. IF ANYONE gave a shit I would but I can read a room.

Camus' take on the myth was to just imagine Sisyphus with a smile on his face.

                >Camus uses the Greek legend of Sisyphus, who is condemned by the gods for eternity to repeatedly roll a boulder up a hill only to have it roll down again once he got it to the top, as a metaphor for the individual’s persistent struggle against the essential absurdity of life. According to Camus, the first step an individual must take is to accept the fact of this absurdity. If, as for Sisyphus, suicide is not a possible response, the only alternative is to rebel by rejoicing in the act of rolling the boulder up the hill. Camus further argues that with the joyful acceptance of the struggle against defeat, the individual gains definition and identity."

I love Camus. I had a wonderful french on the left english on the right version of the stranger. It was so perfect. The plague was a real trip and the question it left me with was WHY didn't the doctor get it? Pardon my no caps but pinky is fucked up. I loved reading Camus in French and English, but I surely get why French is superior for literary purposes. It was really cool to have a page per page translation to reacquaint me with what I already knew.

The doctor helps plague victims because he is a doctor. not for any moral / ethical or philosophical reasons. He is just a practical man doing what needs to be done. He knows that he cannot win against death but he continues anyway - embracing the absurdity. he is essentially a self insert for Camus' absurdist philosophy at its most high minded. If you know Camus then you will know why he doesn't kill himself.

BUT it's never mentioned. His fear. His avoidance. Techniques. I read it twice with that in mind. If you can give me an example of him having any question about it do tell. It may have been lost in the translation.

the plague is not just a plague. Its a literary device. It represents an individual's inability to affect their own destiny or their impotence in the face of eternity. I'm pretty sure in the novel the doctor tells everyone to wear surgical masks and to not leave their homes for two years except to protest with BLM or gays.

Punk is much like doomer culture. You know something is fucked about society and it makes you mad and sad.

Yeah I'm a product of your systm and
my soul is soiled and my heart's impure.
my mind is a disease and there is no cure.
we are all just captive animals. we're forced to live mechanically
like all the tools we've learned to use with hands that we've so long abused
the priviledge of having. all we're good for's wrecking havoc.
we embrace our ignorance so we don't have to know the pain that we inflict
without a thought. just a flick of the wrist.
if we're created by a god, then your god must be an idiot.

they ignore the words that come from our lips
            when they're coupled with violence.
we're kept docile and imprisoned with no chance of a release.
we don't get a damn thing when we're begging them please.
they measure out the cost but they don't think of our pain
so we lash out through impulses we try so hard to contain.
we thrash out and we seal our fates when all we have is our frustration.
we act out and damn ourselves when all we have to give is hatred.

stand in line and give no lip cause your freedom is just a priviledge
that you have been given just as lot as you embrace the system.
hide your eyes, keep yourself hidden. you're disgusting. you're afflicted.
stay hopelessly disconnected. pray away every erection.

there is no escape so there's no point in even trying.
i can tell you the apocalypse is gonna be D.I.Y.
and i can tell you truly, i've always been looking forward
to the end of our existance since the day that i was born.
we've been praying for the end of days since our first breath.
all we need's a little time to end the fucking world ourselves.

my soul is soiled and my heart's impure.
my mind is a disease and there is no cure.

No. Punk was a well crafted gnomish trick to harness the anger of White working class and redirect that energy to creating the shit reality we exist in now.

Probably. The new 'pistols' drama is a decent watch if you watch it through the lense "garden gnomes do garden gnome stuff to destroy functioning society."

I think punk is so far removed from what the solution is, and that is the problem. Pink wants to destroy society and bring on an Atlantean world of spiritually intelligent people. But when your method of doing that is to act like a crusty animal, you bring the world further toward 3D than 5d. You don’t make an awakening by dressing like a degen.
I believe that is what the new right is about, people not needing to be enslaved to their jobs and for the goals of society to be growth in a way that is humanitarian and also in line with nature. The fuhrer decides what are acceptable goals and things to build and does so with love for the people, not profit or control.

The 20s is probably when the cultural shift/subversion began. Weimar Berlin is a strong example but also the artists and intellectuals of NYC, in Greenwich too. The Communists back then were intrigued by the black man, glorifying their art and writing because it was against the white man, the conservative, the traditional Christian good. Claude McKay in the early 20s for starters, leading the "Harlem Renaissance" even visited Soviet Russia.

Damn y'all I am no tease

Franz Kafka wrote a short piece titled "Prometheus," outlining what he saw as his perspective on four aspects of this myth:

According to the first, he was clamped to a rock in the Caucasus for betraying the secrets of the gods to men, and the gods sent eagles to feed on his liver, which was perpetually renewed.
According to the second, Prometheus, goaded by the pain of the tearing beaks, pressed himself deeper and deeper into the rock until he became one with it.
According to the third, his treachery was forgotten in the course of thousands of years, forgotten by the gods, the eagles, forgotten by himself.
According to the fourth, everyone grew weary of the meaningless affair. The gods grew weary, the eagles grew weary, the wound closed wearily.
There remains the inexplicable mass of rock. The legend tried to explain the inexplicable. As it came out of a substratum of truth it had in turn to end in the inexplicable.[90]

It’s like being a secret agent, I can wear many hats. And I adopt some of the lessons from each group but filter out the trash.

Well I am a child, only, of A Bohemian and a Black Irish guy born on an Air Force Base in TX who lived in Montana, Ohio, PA, MO, TN, LA and more. I prefer cowboy hats, myself, I never tried to fit in to anything. If I talk to people in the south, I sound like them. I can't fake it, I can't help it. I can talk trash too but that's not about an accent. More about grammar, which I purposefully fuck up to communicate when in such environments.

Punk was a gnomish psyop designed to corrupt and ruin rock music, which had become an increasingly artful expression of white (and occasionally black) joy and imagination. This corruption was rejected and hijacked by post-punk in its many forms, which was later defeated by a more sophisticated attack in which the punk ethic was injected into radio friendly metal. Before we could recover from this, media companies pushed a resurgence of R&B which was similarly defiled by the worst sort of hip hop conventions. Anyone who calls themselves punk in the face of this genocidal cultural sabotage is a fool and an enemy.

I will note that the executives who steered rock music through its best days were also gnomish, as were key people in the emergence of post-punk in the US. I knew some of these people, and they were not interested in pushing agendas. They cared about the music they were involved with. But that was a long ass time ago.
