Jesus Christ you’re a retard. LINK is earning more in protocol revenue rn than any other coin besides eth. Ofc a big part of staking revenue will be from fees. So the 5% APY figure is kind of like a dividend correct? So the link token price and the staking APY are separate correct? Kind of like how VOO can have capital appreciation of 10% and a dividend yield of 1.5%.

I don’t know shit about stocks man. There’s half a billion link circulating rn, sergey is going to allow 25m of that 500m to be staked initially. That 25m will be earning 5% Apy, approximately 50% of which will probably be from the node incentive fund. The 25m hard cap looks like it won’t last too long though.

TVS isn't TVL. 30x is only ico not any real intial price, we're genuinely not that far up somehow now. No huge corporations have shown any meaningful interest yet. We almost had oracle then they bailed.

bro t mobile and accuweather are literally running a node, we have the ex ceo of Google on board and sergey gets interviewed by swift like twice a year at this point. Even Citibank and jpmorgan said LINK is going to be “bigger than bitcoin”. what more corporate interest do you want? Are you an r9k poster?

                Anonymous

Citi said link could be, not that it would be. Accuweather is noone and running a node isn't remotely the same as being an industry user of the network. We need data buyers. With node subsidisation amd minimal feed use a blockchain dpt lazily spinning up a node was literally free money for years.

Again im not going to waste time dissuading but you can see how easy it is to knock away hopium. There's been fuck all for years. As said if you want please buy more, im just done.

                Anonymous

Based understander. Running a node requires literally 0 effort and allows chainlink to use their name recognition for legitimacy. At the end of the day the only entities consuming chainlink data are defi rugs and nft rugs. There just not all that much you can do with this shit tbh

    OMG
    >Native token emissions from the LINK token supply will be used to create an initial base level of rewards for stakers, with the goal of tapering off over time as other sources of rewards grow and begin to be directed to stakers.

Why did they not start this 1 year ago?
It would have pumped the token price into mid 3 digits.

Sergey is gifting a part of his remaining tokens to stakers now.

        Checked.
Maybe it was but I didn't expect this seeing as how they were trying to make the network profitable and didn't use this to capitalize on the bull run last year.

The network was a bit in the starting phase of adoption so I was ready to wait 1-2 years until it grew a bit more to sustain staking, but with this they will attempt to make it profitable day 1.
It seems they saw the despair of the LINK holders after the BTC suppression and decided to reward them.

    >Another key goal of staking is empowering a greater number of community members to directly participate in the Chainlink Network by enabling them to stake their LINK tokens to support the performance of oracle networks. Importantly, stakers can raise alerts if they believe an oracle service has not met predefined performance standards, with the opportunity to earn a reward for timely and valid alerts. Community monitoring and alerting plays a key role in further decentralizing the Chainlink Network and enabling a robust reputation system and slashing mechanism.

    >Ecosystem participants including community members and node operators can stake their LINK tokens in distinct allotments within a staking pool.

So how are they defining what community members are? I don't think that they'll be adding any nodes to the ETH/USD feed (particularly when testing the initial staking implementation) so this means that there's another mechanism. Maybe the pools that Sergey spoke about in the Jan 1 talk.

But again, how do they select "community members" to get access to this? 25m LINK will fill up quick so can't be first in, first served.

Anyway, exciting stuff. We've waited a long time. I like the rollout, if this works we retire.

Why is link pumping? Not that I mind but there was no new news

People are literally starved for news. Look at link twitter for a microcosm, if they even mention any of the features expected a year ago people start uploading photos of their assholes to entice sergey. I sympathize with smartcontract not doing any work at this point given the desperate cunts they have as a community.

I am butthurt, this has been a pretty miserable hold since mid 2020 and even longer if im being honest in terms of the team showing their work. Also yes the team literally does owe token buyers given that's how they've funded operations.

I don't get this joke. WTF. Just because chainlink introduces staking 2.0 doesn't mean we expect Bitcoin dump. Other projects such as Subsquid are upcoming and will be doing some magic because of their unique use cases in data indexing

        >To initially fill the community alerter allotment, a fair entry mechanism will be used to help ensure participation from a wide range of community members. This entry mechanism will aim to prioritize long-term token holders, who are most likely to actively participate in the alerting mechanism.

its funny how this release matches the mainnet release in 2019 in terms of the stage in the crypto bear market cycle. I'm expecting the market to shit the bed but hopefully link will remain steady and gradually go up.

The ETH/USD feed is the single most important feed in crypto. Just think about that for a second. The total staking cap for this iteration is only 25M LINK all dedicated to the ETH/USD feed. To those that don’t understand, this feed is free to use. As soon as staking is live, the ETH/USD feed will be the first truly decentralized piece of definitive truth. And as a result it is likely, that node operators will begin charging fees for this feed because it is crypto-economically secured. Then you will begin seeing other price feeds request a similar setup to the ETH/USD feed. Here’s a nice tasty tidbit for you lads, there can be an infinite set of DONs within the Chainlink Oracle Network. You literally just win.

      Anonymous

You need to opt in to the new staking backed ETH/USD feed since the interface will be completely different. Most projects will not migrate over and will be ok with the implicit staking aggregator contract that exists right now

How much shit I copped for repeatedly sense-checking schizo anons' expectations for staking by saying it would definitely be released as a beta version and they may not be able to stake straight away. It's a literal beta version and they may not be able to stake straight away. I wonder if those retards keep track of the stupid shit they say.
