Is hyperpop psychologically no different from regular pop, with just the inclusion of extra bells and whistles?

Hyperpop is similar to pop but it makes pseuds feel special for listening to it

pop music has hooks and simple memorable melodies
hyperpop has none of that, it's what the name implies, its if you took pop music but cranked everything up to 11 until you've created a man made horror beyond your comprehension.

I know but it actually does have hooks at its core and tends to be overtly melodic. Anything strange about it is from the effects that are added in production. So it is retarded that it claims to be avant-garde.

          >but it actually does have hooks at its core and tends to be overtly melodic
not really, they don't have hooks so much as elaborate choruses, and their "melodies" are complex and highly chromatic. Again, it's just what the name implies, its like pop music but everything has a combination of autism and ADHD.

Haven't heard one hyperpop song that didn't center around simply looping a few chords, unless there is some advanced hyperpop I am overlooking. It's definitely chromatic, but chromatic in the sense that 2000s pop was.

only good thing to come out of hyperpop was hypertrap beats

that "pop music but slightly better produced" shit is lame as fuck

Hell the most extreme of metal is still pop music
Music is either Classical, Folk, or Pop

        >Hell the most extreme of metal is still pop music
i don't think that's really accurate, the most extreme metal is probably more inaccessible and has less popular appeal than most classical or folk music

The classification anon's using is based on the function that the music serves.
But it's still kinda cringe cause art music as a classifier is used to like make it distinct from music that doesn't have an established academic tradition or something but if you're making music in any kind of form you're responding or reacting against the conventions of the current you're in, and all it takes for it to become academic is just financial backing from boomers
