Philosophy is a waste of time

Philosophy is such a waste of time. I've spent the past 4 years studying all of it because I thought it was going to show me some enlightening truths or something of the sort but it's done nothing but fill up my brain with useless information. Everything in philosophy is stuff we all already know but written out over 500 pages. Do you really need to a year and a half slowly reading a terribly written 700-page historical philosophy book on whether a chair is actually a chair? You already know all the arguments in the book. I guarantee everyone in the world could you give you all the arguments in the 400-year period of philosophical debate. Nothing would be enlightening. We read it for the ego because there is no other reason to read it. You aren't going to learn anything you didn't already know. You can this test out if you haven't already read the great works of philosophy. Ask them. What did you learn? What did you learn that wasn't already obvious? They can't tell you. It's a fraud. The fricking self-help philosophy books like Epicurus, Schopenhauer, etc. Those are usually better than most philosophy works because at least they're poetic but still do you really need to read a 600-page book to tell you that you shouldn't do things that are bad for you and that you should do things that are good for you? Really. Did you need that? 99.9% of philosophy is completely useless and a waste of time. I mean rarely is it useful. One out of 600 philosophy books will make you go. "Wow I never thought about it like that" or "Wow that can be useful in our society". Spend your time learning something useful or soul-stirring.

    >What did you learn that wasn't already obvious?
    >You aren't going to learn anything you didn't already know.
So I already know what Marx and Ayn Rand argued? Are their arguments obvious? How can that be if they oppose each other?

Philosophy is just celebrity worship. Worshipping Plato or Kant or any other historical old white man is no different from worshipping Jordan Peterson or Andrew Tate today.
In science you have textbooks presenting contents independently of who discovered them. You can study quantum mechanics without needing to read original texts by Schrödinger, and in fact you don't even need to know his name when applying the equation he discovered. A textbook about philosophy on the other hand will always be a dry list of "Plato said this ... Nietzsche said that ..." Philosophy has produced no objective insights, philosophy is merely a collection of opinions from ancient meme influencers.
Studying philosophy is not just a waste of time, it's also the epitome of cuckoldism. There is no moral difference between "I let this other guy fill my wife's pussy with his cum instead of my own cum" and "I let this other guy fill my mind with his ideas instead of my own ideas". If you take philosophy and philosophers seriously you're just too immature to think for yourself.

Not in my case. I also studied finance and they talk about who discovered what.

Do you also study these people?

Well, finance is not a science. It's ideology + scam.

Why spend your life reading books you won't remember instead of memorising one much more intimately?
You only need one wife as chasing prostitutes is a waste of time, and you only need one book: the Bible.

You're reading the wrong books, and by the sounds of it you're spending far too much time on the wrong books if you're really reading that many.

ever since mathematics and physics separated themselves from philosophy, philosophy has been >>>/x/ tier ghost stories with zero predictive power, a magnet for pseuds, midwits and morons who will never be smart but want to feel like it
its an academic cargo cult, just like those primitives were building airplanes out of sticks and leaves, philosophy is publishing academic papers trying to emulate scientific papers

you have to be an absolute fricking moron to touch philosophy in the 21st century

Clearly you did it wrong. Philosophy is supposed to be enjoyable at the very least. You didn't at least think to take note of which concepts reoccur over different lifetimes? Knowledge wasn't at our fingertips until 25 years ago. These people all had to study or ponder or simply live life to come to these conclusions.

I literally became a more accomplished person after spending years of overreading philosophy(all kinds of philosophy, from the ancients to the PoMo to Zizek and Dugin). There is a hidden ethics in Hegel. When you find it you will win at life. Enjoy this info.

I definitely did not know everything in the corpus of philosophy before I picked up my first book. That said, while I've many times even said aloud: "huh, I never thought about it that way before", I've not adjusted my beliefs in response to new information presented in philosophy whereas I definitely have with more approachable political theory, current issue works, etc.
