Personally i feel like zoomers are the first generation who's collective consciousness doesnt really feel connected to this war anymore. It may just be me (as my family has a history) but up until now i always felt that we still lived in a post-ww2 world.

Living in a German industrial center means they found allied bombs every few weeks, sometimes several at once, and whole neighborhoods have to be evacuated until they got rid of them. Pretty sure zoomers at least here aren't completely rid of the war yet. Not that they care or most even know anything about it

Same. It still feels like it happened recently. Hell they even had nuclear bombs and computers back then. All the important things were already invented.

Historically speaking WW2 was fricking yesterday.

Yeah to me WW2 still feels recent. I’m not sure how long it will take till it feels truly old like the Napoleonic wars. Maybe another 100 years.

Just wait until you start meeting zoomers who refer to the 20th century as the "nineteen hundreds" with the 1990s as the "late nineteen hundreds."

Yeah to a degree, Zoomers are the first generation to not have Grandparents who fought in or just lived through the war. So it seems a bit more distant.

Yeah. So many of the men in the WWII generation were in the war, if you were of fighting age and weren't in the army, it was like "what the hell are you doing?" I remember hearing my grandfather's stories.

You're a fricking moron. I'm 30 and my grandpa was an infant in WW2.

Zoomer here. I personally don't feel that connected to it. And we were taught about it quite a lot.

My grandfather was a child when it happened and lived through the Dutch fanine.
Despite all of that, it still feels distant, to me at least.

What? I'm a 2000 baby, peak Zoomer, and my grandpa was 20 years old when the war ended. Plenty of us have veteran grandparents.
The issue now is that those grandparents are dying out fast. My gramps just passed away this year, leaving me with only 1 grandmother (born 1935) left

For some reason, WWII feels closer than Vietnam or Korea to me.

Possibly because people around here can't shut up about WWII.
