I have only listened to the pony album years ago and thought it was very forgettable but every zoomer/wigger/artsy crossover homosexual these days listens to them. I don't know why. Pantera is based though

They're just a good band at the intersection of a lot of popular genres. Heavy enough for the metalcore crowd, dream pop for the artsy indie crowd and a bit of hip hop for the, ahem, urban crowd

Deftones was the nu-metal band that people put on when their mom was in the car. Don't let any zoomer convince you they're not remembered more fondly now than they were actually popular in the late 90s. They weren't anywhere near as big or important as bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit or Slipknot.
As for their stuff past like 2000, same as the other 3 bands I mentioned, they were past their prime.
