>Get into Elvis, it's honestly been the most rewarding musical experience of my life
>He makes Rateyourmusic.com seethe, checked the comment boxes and it's a war zone.
>No idea what's the best way to collect the 50s material.
What's the best way to get his 50s material? The Sun collection or the original RCA albums? With the Sun Sessions you get uniformity, but with the RCA albums (I.E. LP Fans Only, the debut etc.) you get a bunch of unique EP and RCA tracks.
I hope you find your answers but you will just get trolled here. Elvis is kino watch the movie dude it’ll probably win the Oscar
You're going to want the Golden Records series regardless, which overlaps with his second LP Elvis.
Sunrise for the early stuff, RCA albums (plus Golden Records series) for the rest.

The 1975/77? Sun Sessions collections are ehhh, RCA added this echo for stereo and it is horrid, plus it is an incomplete set. "When It Rains It Really Pours" was recorded but was lost at the time. The Sunrise compilation is PURE and amazing, This is peak Elvis. RCA Elvis is a different animal, thus the early albums are a mess. I love "Poor Boy," but it sticks out when juxtaposed against the Sun stuff. The RCA albums were mostly made to make profit and rushed, historically they are important, but in hindsight it is clear they were cash grabs. The EPs are worthwhile, same goes to the Golden Records series. So get the Sunrise set, and the Golden Records collections, you'll save money.
I like Elvis in the 50s. I think you need the sun personally because it’s alot of the best. M
Very good performances not a lot of fuckin about and studio tricks. And it really gives a look at the American golden age of the 50s. So for me Elvis has a bit of sadness to it all considering that world is gone.
30 #1 Hits [RCA, 2002]
By my unofficial All Music Guide tally, this makes 385 Elvis comps, some as collectible as his soundtracks themselves, not one definitive. Although pursuing his pure essence is a fool's mission, only fools gainsay The Sun Sessions. A Valentine Gift for You is something to cherish. And there's use value in the five-CD The King of Rock 'n' Roll: The Complete 50's Masters, which duplicates 13 of these selections. But this chart-seeking slice-and-dice feeds off his schlock power. It validates his audience. And it suggests that his life was a continuous whole, not the tragically bifurcated mess of current convention. What holds it together? Think lightness, even on the supposedly feral "One Night." A+
He openly admitted in a review that he didn't like Elvis because he was too much of a chad
I have zero clue what the fuck this goofball is ever going on about. He likes the Sun Sessions but likes the hits? He lost me.
Elvis is a chad, only Bruce Campbell and Kurt Russel are worthy of his status and that's saying something.
There's a lot of different material to check out, from R&B to country to awkward 60s pop fluff. You'll find your era, the 1970s NY concert made me a fan.
Link Wray... and Elvis... weird comparison but okay.
I'll check out the 1970s NY concert. Thanks.
He's alright but Link Wray is better. Funny seeing LULZ evolve to liking normie boomer music while remaining completely sexually inactive.
You have to be 18 to post here.
Though it really should be 25 or some shit.
I tried to listen to Elvis. I get his status and everything, but I just couldn't get into it. I did enjoy the movie Jailhouse Rock though. I felt bored listening to the music though.
Elvis was a fun guy I love that one famous live performance of Suspicious Minds
Also recommend checking out his 1969 Memphis sessions, specifically the 2009 2-dic set of Elvis in Memphis that has all the tracks from that period that were dolled out on later albums.
for me its scotty moore, his guitar work on elvis' songs are fantastic and right p my alley
I've had that Elv1s comp since I was a kid. It's all I know of his besides Christmas but I still put it on sometimes.
also this is my favorite live
Elvis was a pedophile. He raped children.
15 and played house, get your words straight.
It's a good one, very well put together complication
